Favorite Books of 2014

01/09/2015

Top Picks for 2014

Wow, so in compiling this list, I realized that the same authors dominated my list again! Kristen Ashley, Tara Sivec, Mia Sheridan, Harper Sloan & RK Lilley are all going to be at Wicked Book Weekend next month, and they dominate my list! Also, Jasinda Wilder, a 3x author at Wicked Book Weekend and Colleen Hoover has gone as well. As much as I want to diversify my reading a little, these authors keep pulling me in for more, because they never fail! Sure I have some other authors on here, who are now new favorites. It’s so hard to find time for new authors when you love so many that you can’t miss their books! I am striving to read more new-to-me authors this year,

I also noticed my list is dominated by light and happy books. This year I am going to try to read a bigger variety. We will see how it goes!

This list started in order…but then after the first few, kind of lost any order. So with our further blabbering, here are the 2014 Favorites!

The Will (The Magdalene Series Book 1) by Kristen Ashley

Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant.

While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia. There was nothing disguised about Jake. Including the fact he made a habit of making very bad decisions about who to give his love.

But for Josephine and Jake, there was one person who adored them. One person who knew how to lead them to happiness. And one person who was intent on doing it.

Even if she had to do it as her final wish on this earth.

QUOTE MARKPanties off, Josie,” he ordered, his voice rough and commanding…”

“Never keep anything from me, I don’t give a shit how you think I’m gonna react. I’ll react how I react. I will NEVER harm you doin’ it.

The Will was a rare 10 star read (1 of 3 ever). It was an epic romance, featuring an older hero with 3 kids and an older heroine. Pick up The Will. You will laugh, you will cry, you will swoon, you will smile, you will get turned on, you will get angry, you will cry happy tears, and in the end, you will hug your e-reader.

Tattoos and TaTas (Chocoholics 2.5) by Tara Sivec (Can stand alone)

Claire and Liz have always had a friendship that defied the test of time, but when one of them is diagnosed with a disease that every woman fears, their bond is put through the wringer. How do you cope knowing your soul mate could be taken from you?

Filled with memories of their life long friendship, inappropriate behavior, bad tattoos and shaving cats, the two friends will realize that laughter really is the best medicine.

Tattoos and TaTas is not your typical love story; it’s a story of friendship and learning how to let go when something is beyond your control.

QUOTE MARKRight at that moment, I knew that I would do anything for my best friend. I would hold her hand when she was in pain, scream at my catatonic fiancé when he saw her vagina and sit by her side when she became a mom. There was nothing I wouldn’t do for her and I knew that’s how it would always be.”

Tattoos and Tatas was another 10 star read for me. The 1st 10 star read was actually the first in this series, Seduction and Snacks, but this one was even better. Tattoos & Tatas is pure genius. Tara wrote a story that I think people new to her will enjoy because it covers the past 30 years (though it may have some spoilers of earlier books), and people who know and love the Chocolate series will love it even more. She does a beautiful job of making you bawl your eyes out and then laugh within a page or two, so you never wallow in your sadness. It was an amazing tribute to best friends, and still worked so well in the overall story. It filled in some of the little blanks from the years, like how Liz and Jim met at the party, and went even earlier, to how Claire and Liz met. I never had an issue with the flashbacks, and never got confused as to what I was reading. I honestly can’t imagine any way Tattoos & Tatas could have been better. It was a brilliant book that made me laugh and cry throughout it all, AT THE SAME TIME!

Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan

** A NEW YORK TIMES, USA TODAY, and WALL STREET JOURNAL Bestselling book **

When Bree Prescott arrives in the sleepy, lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, she hopes against hope that this is the place where she will finally find the peace she so desperately seeks. On her first day there, her life collides with Archer Hale, an isolated man who holds a secret agony of his own. A man no one else sees.

Archer’s Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom. It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice. It is the story of suffering, fate, and the transformative power of love.

QUOTE MARKIt was as if my body was his instrument and he learned to play it so perfectly that the melody vibrated within my very soul.”

I absolutely LOVED the “Awkward boy. Sweet, silent Archer Hale.” Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan had me spellbound. It was was beautifully touching, unique, and had an underlying message. Everyone needs friends. Everyone needs love. Sometimes you need to step out of your comfort zone and reach out to someone who may be a bit different than you. I eagerly look forward to reading so much more from Mia Sheridan.

Play (Stage Dive Series Book 2) by Kylie Scott

Mal Ericson, drummer for the world famous rock band Stage Dive, needs to clean up his image fast—at least for a little while. Having a good girl on his arm should do the job just fine. Mal doesn’t plan on this temporary fix becoming permanent, but he didn’t count on finding the one right girl.
Anne Rollins never thought she’d ever meet the rock god who plastered her teenage bedroom walls—especially not under these circumstances. Anne has money problems. Big ones. But being paid to play the pretend girlfriend to a wild life-of-the-party drummer couldn’t end well. No matter how hot he is. Or could it?

QUOTE MARKHe grabbed the back of my head, dragging the length of his warm, damp tongue up the side of my face. I froze against the onslaught. “You did not just do that.”
“It’s a sign of affection. You think I salivate on just anyone?”
“You… I can’t even.”
“There are women who would kill to have me licking their face. You do not begin to appreciate just how lucky you are to have my spit. Now lick me back.” He pointed to jaw demandingly. “Anne, do it. Do it now before I get offended.”

Play by Kylie Scott is a book I would love to read again (if I ever get time for a re-read again in my life!). It is just perfect for my tastes, it had everything I love – characters I adore, laugh-out-loud scenes, hot sexy times, tons of banter, and just an all-around fun and sexy read.

Passion and Ponies (Chocoholics #2) by Tara Sivec

Ava Gilmore has the perfect life. She’s surrounded by people who love her, she’s having sex on a regular basis and her Coach bag collection just grew by three. The problem? She’s expected to follow in her family’s footsteps at Seduction and Snacks, working with sex toys and baked goods.

Ava loves vibrators and cupcakes as much as the next person, she’d just rather play with them than sell them. With her shopping addiction reaching an all time high and her credit card bills piling up, Ava decides to put her obsession to good use and start a fashion blog. But she has one other problem – the guy she’s having sex with has a My Little Pony addiction.

While dealing with her family’s disappointment and confusion over her choices, she finds support in the unlikeliest of places – Tyler Branson. Tyler has slowly wormed his way into her bed and her heart and he refuses to leave. Tyler has his own family problems to deal with and for the first time ever, Ava finds herself feeling bad for the annoying, immature guy and chanting “Friendship is magic!” during the sex she’d swore to stop having with him.

Ava needs to get her life in order once and for all before she finds herself doing something she never wanted to do – fall in love with a Brony.

QUOTE MARKI JUST SAW A GAY PENIS! MAKE IT GO AWAY, MAKE IT GO AWAY!”…
“Honey, my penis is the same as yours.”
“FALSE! My penis prefers the pink and yours likes the stink.”

I was a bit concerned at first that Tara may not be able to keep up the level of humor from the other books without going overboard, but I must say, she just keeps getting better. Passion and Ponies turned out to be my 2nd favorite, or tied with Seduction and Snacks. It was a perfect blend of funny, stupid, silly, sexy, heartwarming, angsty, and just plain lovable. It was a hell of a story, and I so hope that Molly’s story is next.

Cage (Corps Security Book 2) / Uncaged (Corps Security Book 4)

CAGE: Greg Cage was born to protect. While growing up, he was his mother and sister’s shield against the world… until he failed. For the last decade, he has carried that guilt and need for vengeance around… until it was stripped from him. Now, with his best friend getting married and no longer needing his protection, he is even more lost, completely adrift, and desperate for some control. All he has ever known was how to protect: his family, his friends, and his country. Can he go against everything he has ever known, and give up that control?

Melissa Larson will never let anyone hold the reins in her life. She has been the rock in her family for more years than she can remember, and the fight to keep them together is her main priority right now. She has always been fiercely independent and proud. The last thing she will ever do is ask for someone else’s help. But when that choice is out of her control, forcing her to rely on others to save her and her family, and pick up the pieces that are left, will she be able to let someone else be her strength?

The second Greg locks eyes with Meli, he knows that she is someone he needs. Someone he craves. Meli knew the second she met Greg that he would be nothing but trouble and heartache. Her life takes an unexpected turn, and that bitch Fate is back to wreak more havoc on another member of the Corps family.

All hell breaks loose, leaving Greg no choice but to call in a favor. He hooks back up with his old friend Braxxon Breaker from the Breakneck MC. Together, they make sure that nothing threatens anyone Greg loves again.

CAGE is a complete story with a HEA.

QUOTE MARKYou won’t be complaining about that one when it’s slamming against your clit, promise you that.”
I absolutely LOVED Cage. If you love a pierced, alpha, protective, possessive security type with a super mushy core, Greg Cage is the perfect one for you. If you don’t fall for his pierced peen, beast in the bedroom and protective nature, you won’t be able to resist when you see him with little Cohen.

UNCAGED: Greg Cage’s life is more fulfilling than he ever could have imagined. He’s married to the love of his life, has an amazing son, and in a few short months, his family will grow again with the birth of his twin girls.

The past year has been a tough one for the Cage family, but they are now on the road to healing by learning to let go of the past and looking forward to their future.

When situations beyond his control threaten to take away so much of what Greg holds close to his heart, he has to learn that he doesn’t always have the control he tries to maintain in their lives. Will he be able to handle the stress of knowing his wife and newborn daughters are beyond his protection?

Join the Cage family as they embark on yet another one of life’s journeys with a rambunctious four-year-old, pregnancy complications, and the fear of the unknown.

Will the love that Greg and Melissa share hold true as they fight to overcome the obstacles that face them?

UNCAGED is not a standalone. It is a continuation of CAGE. It is recommended that you read the first 3 books in the series before UNCAGED.

QUOTE MARKHA! Daddy has his wiener rings in! Daddy, your wiener is funny looking with mommy’s earrings in there!” He starts dancing around the room, chanting about my goddamn wiener rings.

Harper totally hit it out of the park with Uncaged. Even though it was a novella, it was a very full story. We already know the characters, since this book doesn’t stand alone, so there was no wasting of pages. The whole book was chock-full of wonderful story, emotion, love, heartbreak, fear, sex, humor and everything else you could want in a book. Uncaged is up there with my favorite books of the year so far, and the whole Corps Security Series is a must read.

Locke (Corps Security Book 6) by Harper Sloan

Locke: Darkness is the only thing I see. Ever since the day my life changed. The day that everything and everyone I held close to me ceased to exist. The day I lost it all and the demons of my past consumed my every waking moment.

I tried to keep others at arm’s length. Tried not to let my darkness taint them. Ruin them. Harm them. And whether I want to admit it or not, as much as I wish I could keep them locked out, they refuse to leave. Refuse to let me suffer alone.

If I hadn’t been so focused on keeping those demons from flying free, I wouldn’t have missed how one perfect angel was able to sneak her way under my skin—refusing to let go. Making me want things I don’t deserve.

She consumes me. Her beauty knows no end. The love she promises tempts me every time she’s near. But that pure heart that makes her MY Emmy is the one thing I’m convinced I’ll destroy if I ever let her close.

I’m a broken man. A broken man with too much darkness in his soul to ever let her light shine upon me. But even that doesn’t stop me from craving her with every single breath in my body.

QUOTE MARKI know exactly what I’m talking about. I know because my soul recognizes its mate. Its kindred spirit. We both have our pain, Maddox. We both have the shame of our past and the fear it holds on the future. The only difference is that you let that pain and fear rule your heart. And the difference in me is that I am willing to risk it all day in and day out for just a second of your love.”

Locke was the perfect ending to an amazing series. The whole series has everything I love in a book. Alpha, rescuing, sexy, dirty-talking heroes, delicious sex, funny lines, epic romances, tons of amazing quotes, good friendships and more. The addition of kids to the mix, just makes it better, and now we have their books to look forward to!

Becoming Calder, Finding Eden by Mia Sheridan

*MUST be read together. This is 2 parts.

Becoming Calder: There is a place in modern day America with no electricity, no plumbing, and no modern conveniences. In this place, there is no room for dreams, no space for self-expression, and no tolerance for ambition.

In this place, there is a boy with the body of a god and the heart of a warrior. He is strong and faithful and serves his family honorably. But he dares to dream of more.

In this place, there is a girl with the face of an angel and a heart full of courage. To her family, she is the vision of obedient perfection. But she dares to want that which she has been told can never be hers.

Becoming Calder is the story of good versus evil, fear versus bravery, and the truth that the light of love has always found its way into even the darkest of places . . . From the beginning of time, to the end of the world.

QUOTE MARKThe gods created this place for us…so we’d have a place to fall in love.”

“Calder kissed me in a way that made me believe I had not only always been his, but I would be his forever. In this life or any other.”

Finding Eden: Finding Eden is the continuation, and conclusion, to Becoming Calder.

When the world as you know it has ended, when all that you love has been washed away, where do you find strength?

When the new world you’ve stepped into is as isolating as the last, when your heart is broken, and your future is unclear, where do you find hope?

Finding Eden is a story of strength, discovery, forgiveness, and undying love. It is about believing in your destiny and following the path that leads to peace.

QUOTE MARKI think we have to focus on on the beauty we’ve been given in this life, and make that the thing that defines us.”

The writing was flawless. Emotional and sexy, heartbreaking and heartwarming, Becoming Calder & Finding Eden brought out so many emotions, from anger and frustration to fear, to hopefulness, to disgust, to pure unadulterated joy.
Becoming Calder is about hope. It’s about undying love in the worst circumstances and has a good vs. evil theme throughout. Finding Eden is about strength, about forgiving yourself, and finding the road to happiness. Together, the two books are definitely going into my all-time favorites group. Filled with so much emotion and heart, this duo of books is one I can’t wait to get signed at Wicked Book Weekend.

Kaleidoscope (Colorado Mountain Series Book 6) by Kristen Ashley (Can stand alone)

When old friends become new lovers…anything can happen.

Sexy, gifted, and loyal, PI Jacob Decker is a tall, cool drink of perfection who had Emmanuelle Holmes at “hello.” His relationship with Emme’s best friend kept them apart for years, but things have changed. Now that a case has brought him to Gnaw Bone, Colorado, the road is wide open for Emme and Deck to explore something hotter and deeper than Emme dreamed possible. So why is she sabotaging the best thing that’s ever happened to her?

It isn’t easy to catch Deck off guard, but Emme does just that when she walks back into his life after nine long years. The curvy brunette had her charms back in the day, but now she’s a bona fide knockout . . . and she wants to rekindle their friendship. Deck, however, wants more. Emme’s always been the one; she excites Deck’s body and mind like no other woman can. But a dark chapter from Emme’s past overshadows their future together. Now only Deck can help her turn the page-if she’ll let him . . .

QUOTE MARKYou piss me off. You make me laugh. You make me think. You’re absolutely fine with me being nothin’ but me. You’re fuckin’ gorgeous. You’re a great lay. And you like my dog.”

Kaleidoscope is the 6th in the Colorado Mountain Series by Kristen Ashley. Though it can easily stand alone, I highly recommend the whole series, it’s one of my favorites. When I finished Kaleidoscope, I hugged my kindle, and thought “she’s back.” Though Kaleidoscope was a little slower in pace, and not quite as funny as some of the other Kristen Ashley books, I felt it was smarter. The characters are both highly intelligent (though believe me, Decker still spoke KA alpha-speak), and a lot of the action was in both of their heads. Emme was lonely. Decker was lonely. Together, they were complete.

Alpha by Jasinda Wilder

The first time it happened, it seemed like an impossible miracle. Bills were piling up, adding up to more money than I could ever make. Mom’s hospital bills. My baby brother’s tuition. My tuition. Rent. Electricity. All of it on my shoulders. And I had just lost my job. There was no hope, no money in my account, no work to be found. And then, just when I thought all hope was lost, I found an envelope in the mail. No return address. My name on the front, my address. Inside was a check, made out to me, in the amount of ten thousand dollars. Enough to pay the bills and leave me some left over to live on until I found a job. Enough to let me focus on classes. There was no name on the check, just “VRI Inc.,” and a post office box address for somewhere in the city. No hint of identity or reason for the check or anything. No mention of repayment, interest, nothing…except a single word, on the notes line: “You.” Just those three letters.

If you receive a mysterious check, for enough money to erase all your worries, would you cash it?

I did.

The next month, I received another check, again from VRI Incorporated. It too contained a single word: “belong.”

A third check, the next month. This time, two words. Four letters. “To me.”

The checks kept coming. The notes stopped. Ten thousand dollars, every month. A girl gets used to that, real quick. It let me pay the bills without going into debt. Let me keep my baby brother in school and Mom’s hospice care paid for. How do you turn down what seems like free money, when you’re desperate? You don’t. I didn’t.

And then, after a year, there was a knock on my door. A sleek black limousine sat on the curb in front of my house. A driver stood in front of me, and he spoke six words: “It’s time to pay your debt.”

Would you have gotten in?

I did.

It turns out $120,000 doesn’t come free.

QUOTE MARKOne word out of you, and I’ll snap. I’ll pull into the nearest alley and fuck you where you sit. You’re flushed and nervous and the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, and you smell like expensive wine and good food and pussy. I’m barely holding onto my restraint right now.”

Alpha wasn’t an epic, New Adult bawl-your-eyes-out kind of book like many of Jasinda’s books. It’s a gripping erotic romance with suspense. It hovered close to having too much sex without going over (or maybe that was me?) but there was more than enough story to even it out, and believe me, I wasn’t complaining! I thought it was a short, fast read and was surprised to find out it is 445 pages! Jasinda’s pacing makes it a quick, easy, totally hot read that I am saving on my kindle for those nights I need a little extra motivation for Mr. Ana.

Lovely Trigger (Tristan & Danika Book 3) by RK Lilley.
Does not stand alone, but it is a 5 star series.

BOOK THREE: TRISTAN & DANIKA

THE IMPACT
Tristan hit rock bottom, and no one felt the impact harder than Danika. She was forced to see, in the most brutal of ways, that love does not conquer all. Bruised, bloody, and broken she had to walk away.

THE AFTERMATH
Picking up the pieces of your life after a tragedy is a daunting prospect, and that’s considering you still own all of the pieces. But what if you don’t? What if someone else owns those pieces, and those pieces are a part of your soul?
You dig deep and work with what you’ve got.
That’s what Danika told herself and believed, every single day, for years.
Tristan and Danika’s love had failed every test that life had thrown at them. She couldn’t forget that, not for one second. And if those tests had been overly harsh, well, she wasn’t one to wallow in self-pity. The failure was the thing she had to focus on. The failure was the lesson. She had no intention of working so hard to make it out of hell without learning that lesson well.

THE REUNION
Over six years after the night that changed everything, Danika finds herself forced to spend the weekend constantly in Tristan’s company, as they attend the wedding of two of their dearest friends. It’s been long enough that she feels they can be friendly again without it destroying her peace of mind, but just a small amount of time in his presence has her remembering something she had forced herself to forget: There’d been a reason she’d gone through hell with this man, for this man, some true good to precede the bad.
She shocks herself by quickly giving in to a hunger that she never imagined could still consume her.
Even the best intentioned denial has a breaking point.

THE HARSH REALITY
After everything that’s happened, the rise and the fall, the pain and the aftermath, can these two navigate the waters of acute regret, survive the trials of coming face to face with all that they have lost, and find the strength to try again?

QUOTE MARKLove doesn’t let you walk away clean. Love is messy…. Love takes a fucking piece of you before it’s done.”

RK Lilley is one of my favorite authors, and I have to say, this series is one of my favorite ever. The series is 5 stars or more all the way through.  I laughed, I cried (good and bad tears), I jumped my husband, and I fell in love with the ‘new’ Tristan and Danika. This series makes you fall in love, then breaks you, then puts you back together in a different way, but a way that is stronger than ever.

Frenched by Melanie Harlow

Can stand alone

When Tucker Branch, playboy heir to Branch Bolt and Screw, screws and bolts a week before their wedding, Mia Devine wants nothing more than to crawl under her newly monogrammed sheets and plan a funeral for her dignity. But her friends convince her that bitter tastes better when it’s drowned in Bordeaux, so Mia grits her teeth and packs her bags, determined to make the best of her luxurious Paris honeymoon—alone.

She never planned on meeting Lucas Fournier.

The easygoing bartender’s scruffy good looks and less-than-sympathetic ear annoy her at first, but when she takes him up on his offer to show her around the city, she discovers that the romance of Paris isn’t just a myth.

Nor is the simultaneous O.

The last thing Mia needs is another doomed love affair, but since she only has a week, she figures she might as well enjoy la vie en O with Lucas while she can. But each day—and night—with Lucas is better than the last, and suddenly her heart is telling her this is more than a rebound fling.

Is it just the seduction of Paris…or could this be the real thing?

QUOTE MARKIt felt so different, so good to have someone willing to take his time. Someone to care about fulfilling my needs, someone who wanted to please me.
Someone who whispered my name in awe as he held himself deep within me.
Actually I think I did die. Because this feels like heaven.’

I friggen’ LOVED Frenched by Melanie Harlow! It made me happy to read, it made Mr. Ana happy that I was reading it, it made me laugh, cry, swoon, get all teary, get horny as hell, and had me smiling throughout. There was a little angst, but not much. Frenched was just an all around feel-good book. I totally recommend you take a Paris vacation with Mia and Lucas in Frenched.

Reaper’s Legacy (Reapers Motorcycle Club Book 2) by Joanna Wylde
Can stand slone

Eight years ago, Sophie gave her heart—and her virginity—to Zach Barrett on a night that couldn’t have been less romantic or more embarrassing. Zach’s step-brother, a steely-muscled, tattooed biker named Ruger, caught them in the act, getting a peep show of Sophie he’s never forgotten.

She may have lost her dignity that fateful night, but Sophie also gained something precious—her son Noah. Unfortunately, Zach’s a deadbeat dad, leaving Ruger to be Noah’s only male role model. When he discovers Sophie and his nephew living in near poverty, Ruger takes matters into his own hands—with the help of the Reapers Motorcycle Club—to give them a better life.

Living with outlaw bikers wasn’t Sophie’s plan for her son, but Ruger isn’t giving her a choice. He’ll be there for Noah, whether she wants him or not. But Sophie does want him, has always wanted him. Now she’ll learn that taking a biker to bed can get a girl dirty in every way…

QUOTE MARKJesus you piss me off.” he murmered. “Good thing your cunt’s so fucking hot.”
“Don’t call it that.”
His lip twitched.
“Good thing your vaginas so gosh darned hot, because I really, really want to stick my penis in it and have repeated sexual intercourse, bringing us to a mutually satisfactory culmination of our desires. How’s that sound?”

The Reaper’s MC series by Joanna Wylde is up there in my favorite series now. Jo knows how to balance great characters, a realistic, gritty storyline, hot as hell men & women and an exciting storyline with the perfect amount of romance and tenderness to fall for the guy but never have him look like a pussy. I read Reaper’s Legacy in one eager sitting, then when reviewing my notes to review it, read it straight through again. The first, Reaper’s Property was a book I LOVED, and who wouldn’t with a guy named Horse for obvious reasons? But Reaper’s Legacy is even more. More what you ask? More everything! More real, more sexy, more fun, and more addicting.

Perfect Ten by Nikki Worrell

Standalone

Joseph Starling Jr. was in the right place at the right time. It didn’t take him long to discover his particular talent. He knew how to make a woman feel good. If she wasn’t screaming out his name, purring like a kitten or clawing at him like a lioness, he had failed. Mediocre was not a word in his vocabulary. Her enjoyment was so important to him that his own pleasure was a secondary concern.

Faith Graham was nothing like the women he was required to date as an escort—it was what he liked about her from the first time he saw her. She was imperfect and insecure. Her hair was a bit on the wild side, and her clothes were slightly rumpled. But her curves! They were alluring. She had curves where most of the elite clientele he mingled with had straight lines, and not an ounce of softness to be found. Shocking him to his core, she didn’t want anything to do with him.

Joe had always thought that working as an escort for Perfect Ten was a dream come true, but he was beginning to wonder if there was more to life than raking in the cash and having his pick of women on any given night. Could he start over with a new direction in life, or was he already at the age of twenty-six too jaded? Was there more out there for Joe Starling or was he destined to be a boy toy at the whim of any woman rich enough to afford him?

QUOTE MARKHey, we just met, and I don’t mean to be rude, but I like my women— for lack of a better word— womanly. I need softness and curves. I’m sure plenty of men find your type attractive, but I’m not one of them.” I pulled Faith close again lowering my hand to rest on the soft curve of her bottom. “I certainly find your sister womanly though.”

Perfect Ten by Nikki Worrell may be the most relatable book I have ever read. The heroine is a size 16 and completely down on herself. I loved reading about a heavy girl who actually hated herself. I know that might sound crazy, but I think that is more realistic than the curvy girl who loves her curves. Even the ones who are usually body-positive will sometimes cringe when they see their double chin in that selfie. Sure, this story is a bit of a Pretty Woman fantasy book. The premise is not that original, but I just loved the execution. I laughed a lot, cried a bit, and wanted to hang out with the heroine (or throw her in front of a bus and take her place.)
I think Perfect Ten is great for any woman who loves a happier, upbeat, very sexy book. Do you have to be chubby to read this? NOT AT ALL. Though it’s nice to be able to relate, I think most women have felt that “why would he want me?” feeling, and Perfect Ten nailed it.

Sasha (Mixed Drinks #1) by Rae Matthews

Sasha is the first book in the connected standalone series Mixed Drinks

When it comes to relationships, I have really bad luck. Each time I meet a guy, I cross my fingers and hope he is at least halfway normal. I’m so tired of dealing with crybabies and freak shows that I could just scream. At this point, I’m so close to just joining a convent, taking the vow of chastity, and calling it quits with men entirely. Well, I probably don’t need to go to that extreme… I mean who am I kidding? There’s no way I could be a nun. But becoming an old crotchety lady with 20 cats lurking around? Now THAT is a definite possibility. That is until I see him, my brown-eyed stallion man, swooping in to save me from an unforeseen wrinkly old balls attack, and then… he is gone. Well, not gone completely, because I can’t stop fantasizing about him.
I fantasize about him so much that when I finally do see him again, I make a complete and total ass of myself. Several times in fact. How I do not drop dead of embarrassment right then and there is beyond me.
So, remember I said I have really bad luck? Well, sit back, grab a glass of wine or your favorite mixed drink, and let me tell you how it all started, and how it all ends…

QUOTE MARKT-minus 2 hours to party time. Get your legs and vajayjay shaved, and Sasha, don’t forget those pits!!! No one wants to see the Sasquatch in you.”

I didn’t really know what it was about, and I had NO CLUE that I would end up laughing my ass off the whole book! Seriously, Sasha is up there with Tara Sivec, Alice Clayton and Laurel Ulen Curtis for favorite funny books. Sasha was laugh out loud funny and totally sweet and sexy. My perfect combo. I can’t wait to read more from Rae!

Flat-Out Celeste (Flat-Out Love Book 3) by Jessica Park

Can totally stand alone, but so much better if you read at least Flat Out Love (one of my all-time favorites) first.

For high-school senior Celeste Watkins, every day is a brutal test of bravery. And Celeste is scared. Alienated because she’s too smart, her speech too affected, her social skills too far outside the norm, she seems to have no choice but to retreat into isolation.

But college could set her free, right? If she can make it through this grueling senior year, then maybe. If she can just find that one person to throw her a lifeline, then maybe, just maybe.

Justin Milano, a college sophomore with his own set of quirks, could be that person to pull her from a world of solitude. To rescue her—that is, if she’ll let him.

Together, they may work. Together, they may save each other. And together they may also save another couple—two people Celeste knows are absolutely, positively flat-out in love.

Whether you were charmed by Celeste in Flat-Out Love or are meeting her for the first time, this book is a joyous celebration of differences, about battling private wars that rage in our heads and in our hearts, and—very much so— this is a story about first love.

QUOTE MARKI have social difficulties. I do not always read situations properly. Or, more correctly, I do not always read people properly.”
“Maybe people don’t read you properly.”
“That is a generous way to see me.”
“It’s the only way to see you.”

I loved everything about Celeste’s story. I loved how labels were never really used and the messages behind all of Jessica Park’s words. The message that normal is just a perception, and nobody should be able to set a standard of what is “normal”. The message to embrace yourself, quirks and all because that is what makes the world interesting was deeply embedded in this story without being obnoxiously in your face. If you are looking for a unique read with will make you laugh, cry, smile the whole time, hug your kindle and make you feel good about yourself or your quirky child, this is one series that can do it for you.

The Replacement | The Prisoner  by Rachael Wade

The Replacement: A gritty New Adult drama about a young woman’s self-destructive quest to find purpose, self-worth, and love in a broken world.

My name is Elise Duchamp. I’m twenty-three years old and I’m known as the town whore.

No, not the kind who exchanges sexual favors for money. The other kind. The kind who gives it all away for free, whenever and however she likes. I am that girl. The one everyone whispers about and the one none of the girls seem to like, because all of their boyfriends either want to sleep with me or already have. Promiscuity is my thing—the kind that slowly, violently turns my insides black, but gives me something I need.

All things considered, I’m not completely reckless. I’m safe, and contrary to popular opinion, I do have a heart. I live in a world of careless choices, and with those choices come careless people. I cannot judge them, because I am one of them. I too bow down to the altar of the self-serving. I am not a good friend. I am not and never could be anyone’s girlfriend. I’m convinced any goodness in me shriveled up and died long ago.

But I am a replacement. That is something I know how to be, and this is a story of the lengths I’d go to in order to keep it that way.

QUOTE MARKI’m Elise Duchamp, and I destroy relationships.  I destroy people.  Wives, girlfriends, good people.  People like you.  I fuck their husbands, their boyfriends, eat their food, sleep in their beds.”

SEE MY REVIEW

The Prisoner: ***THE PRISONER is a novella (approx. 25,000 words) intended to be read AFTER The Replacement. Contains explicit material and language.***

My name is Christian Walker, and Elise Duchamp is my drug of choice.

No matter how hard I try to break the habit, it’s a lost cause. Okay, maybe I haven’t really tried to quit this particular habit. All I can think about is owning her. Making her mine. Can you really blame me? With that sinful body, luscious mouth, and wicked tongue, she’s every man’s dream, and she knows it.

No one is immune to her charm, not even me, a man who has everything—a beautiful wife, an office with a view, and more money than most people can spend in one lifetime. Only I know how to make her toes curl. Only I know her body better than the other men she screws in her free time. None of them can compare to me.

But the joke is on me. I’m the prisoner.

The one who will never compare to him. The one man who makes me see red. His name is stored in her cell phone. It’s the first one she calls out to, the first one she cries for when all hell breaks loose. Ryder Jacobson.

The name makes me cringe.

She loves him, and I love her. In my own way, I always will. But the bad guy doesn’t always belong with the bad girl. Sometimes the bad girl needs a good man to believe in her, to give her that final push toward ultimate transformation. I wish I was that good man. That I could be her happily ever after. I guess that’s the thing about prisoners, though. They’re left alone with their torment, and in the end, they have no one to blame but themselves.

QUOTE MARKNow do as I say, Elise, and you’ll come so hard you won’t ever want another man to fuck you. Only me.”

SEE MY REVIEW

This was a unique story with a truly beautiful underlying message.  This story is about loving without conditions, but even more so, learning to love yourself. Elise’s journey was a tough one, yet there was hope throughout the entire book. Rachael did an amazing job with this story. It is not often an author can take a character we should all hate and make her someone to root for, but Rachael did just that, and taught us all a lesson at the same time.

I have a strong aversion to cheating books. When I told Rachael I would read The Replacement, I hadn’t been sure what I was getting into. Then I read it, and fell in love, despite all of my misgivings. Then with The Prisoner, once again, I love a cheater. How Rachael Wade can work her mojo into making me love a cheater, I don’t know. But she did it twice. I usually like to let standalones stay alone. I never beg for a sequel. But I wanted more Christian. I got it–but now I want even more!

Captured by Jasinda and Jack Wilder

Love is never easy. It’s especially difficult when you love a Marine. I knew the risk when I said “I do”, but I chose to love anyway.

In a flash, he was taken from me, and now I’m alone. Struggling and desperate. There’s no hope, no future. Just the endless cycle of day-to-day survival. But a letter returned could change all of that.

Hope and love often come from the last place you’d think to look, when you least expect it.

* * *

I was a lost, broken soul, tortured by the memories of what I’d endured. When I visited that old farmhouse in rural Texas, all I wanted to do was return the letter. Keep a promise to a friend.

What I got was healing. Understanding. The chance to find a measure of peace when all I’ve ever known is war.

We both lost everything. But in each other, we found something worth fighting for.

***This is a full length, stand-alone contemporary romance, set in the world of WOUNDED**

QUOTE MARKYou look at me like I’m beautiful, and I really like feeling beautiful again. I like it, and I don’t want to give it up.”

“I like the way you make me feel, too. Like I’m a real man again. Like I’m more than just the soldier with scars and PTSD and a sack load of psychological damage. Like I’m more than the fucked-up ex POW.”

Captured was the best of Jasinda and Jack Wilder. It had the excitement, grittiness and action of war. It had a few plot twists. It had an epic romance. It had tons and tons of great sex. It was ridiculously emotional. It had a child to lighten the mood. It had really, really intelligent writing that was almost poetic at times. I’m not sure how much input they Jasinda and Jack have had in each others books, but let me tell you, this partnership worked.  I can’t wait to read the next book from this dynamic duo.

Owned By Fate (Entangled Brazen) (Serve) by Tessa Bailey

Her mind rejects his world. But her body knows its master.

Journalist Caroline Preston arrives at Serve, New York City’s hottest BDSM club, with one goal—to hate it. If her brother wasn’t trying to turn the family’s respectable financial magazine into a publication that features “lifestyle” pieces for the wealthy and adventurous, she wouldn’t even be there, trying to write an article about a world she doesn’t understand.

But then she sees him.

Jonah Briggs doesn’t leave his post for just anyone. As the owner of the club, his sole purpose is to ensure that his clientele get everything they need, but when he sees Caroline, his only thought is what he wants—to dominate the sexy little reporter and give the most exquisite pleasure she’s ever experienced.

Caroline has no intention of entering that particular lion’s den—not with her family’s reputation at stake—no matter how dark, sexy, and complex the lion in question may be. But with every encounter, she craves more, and with every slide of his lips, she realizes Jonah might just be the man to break down all her defenses…if she’ll let him.

QUOTE MARKCareful, baby. You’re giving yourself away. You love it, don’t you? That sharp bite echoing between your gorgeous, shaking thighs? Who’s the one providing the bite, Caroline?
“You are, Master.”
“That’s right. Thank me for your punishment.”

Tessa was already queen of the dirty talking alpha. In Owned by Fate she took it a step further and made it a dirty talking alpha Dom. And not only a Dom, but the owner of the exclusive BDSM club. In this sexy opposites attract story, we get banter, dirty talking and great sex all read with a grin on my face. I loved it, and I can’t wait to get an extra free few hours to read Exposed by Fate!

Maybe Someday | Maybe Not: A Novella by Colleen Hoover

Maybe Someday: At twenty-two years old, Sydney has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter’s cheating on her–and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by Ridge, her mysterious neighbor. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

QUOTE MARKI’m convinced that people come across others in life whose souls are completely compatible with their own. Some refer to them as soul mates. Some refer to it as true love. Some people believe their souls are compatible with more than one person, and I’m beginning to understand how true that might be.”

SEE MY REVIEW

Maybe Not: Colleen Hoover, the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe Someday, brilliantly brings to life the story of the wonderfully hilarious and charismatic Warren in a new novella, Maybe Not.

When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change.

Or maybe not.

Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory.

Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love?

Maybe.

Maybe not.

QUOTE MARKI feel like I’m two different people right now. I’m a guy who finds his new roommate insanely attractive, but I’m also a guy who can’t stand to be around his bitchy new roommate.”

Even though it was a fairly short novella, I absolutely LOVED Maybe Not, even more than Maybe Someday. Colleen Hoover is a total genius, and I honestly think she can’t write a bad book. Seriously, it’s a perfect little quick read filled with fun, emotion, heat and romance. I loved it, and highly recommend you read it after Maybe Someday.

Burned (Ignite Trilogy, #1) by Tara Sivec

Seventeen years old when he broke my heart.
Seventeen days later when another picked up the pieces.
Seventeen years together.
Seventeen thousand problems.
Seventeen days of reliving my past and finding a new future.
Seventeen minutes until it all went up in flames.
Seventeen breaths until I took my last.
This is my story…and it’s going to burn.

QUOTE MARKThe look in Collin’s eyes as he continues to turn up the bass tells me he is definitely going to fuck me like an animal right now. And he’ll make me love every dirty minute of it.”

It’s amazing what Tara is able to pack into this fairly quick read. It had everything. Epic romance, realism, suspense, humor, angst, and completely hot dirty talking fireman sex. The quality of Tara’s writing is incredible and it’s amazing how she was just able to nail another genre. Burned is one you don’t want to miss. QUOTE MARKBabe, I’m yours. How am I a promise?”
“Every day is a new promise, Ben. Every night I go to sleep knowing’ in some way it’s gonna be fulfilled and repeat for…hopefully…ever”

Kristen Ashley has done it again. She has written another epic book filled with love, laughter, pure alpha hotness, amazing family and friends, a full, rich story with some excitement, and amazing romance. Play (Stage Dive Series Book 2) by Kylie Scott

Play was such a FUN read! I loved Lick, but Play just had that extra special element that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Or maybe I can…it’s MAL! I loved Mal…he made me laugh out loud so many times while reading this book. I mean, come on!

“Hello, Anne’s clitoris. It’s me, Malcolm, your lord and master.”

But aside from the funny, there was also the sweet…

“Pumpkin, I’m always serious when it comes to you. Even when I’m messing around, I’m still serious as shit. Whatever you need, whatever I have to do. It’s been that way since we met. Haven’t you noticed yet? We’re fucking destined or something. I can’t help myself. It’s pathetic, really.”

Honestly, the whole series is great. I am really looking forward to the fourth and final book, Deep.

Locke (Corps Security Book 6) by Harper Sloan

Holy shit. I cannot possibly put into words how much I ADORED this final chapter to the Corps Security series. I have been dying for Maddox’s story since the very first book. So dark, so mysterious…you KNEW he was harboring deep pain. And you just NEEDED him to find his happily ever after. Harper ROCKED this book. So much heartache, so much healing, so much love. Both of their stories had me in tears. There are two quotes that MADE this book for me.

“I’m going to be worthy of you Emmy,” I vow softly, my cheek pressed against hers and my lips whispering my promise in her ear. “I promise you, angel. I’m going to be the man you deserve. I — God — I f*ucking love you.”

“MOMMY! I wanna be a transformer just like Maddox Locke,”….”Baby boy, you can’t just decide to be a transformer. Only special people get that honor and only God can pick them. But you know what? That means that Maddox is an even bigger superhero. He’s a transformer because he saved people.”

This was the PERFECT ending to a BEAUTIFUL series. I can’t recommend this series enough. If you have not met Harper’s boys…you need to rectify that immediately!

Stolen Course (Wrecked and Ruined Book 2) by Aly Martinez

This book left me speechless. No word can possibly convey the myriad of emotions I felt throughout this book. I was broken and slowly put back together. Heart-breaking, yet beautiful. A powerful story of love, hate, forgiveness, rebirth, and freedom. Just wow.
Brilliant, Aly Martinez, simply brilliant. This book is the second in the Wrecked and Ruined series. And while all of the books COULD be read as standalones, I highly recommend reading all of them in order. I am truly enjoying this series. It takes you on a CRAZY journey…I LOVE it!

“Forgiveness is a very abstract term. It doesn’t erase the past. It is not a magical switch you can flip or a stained rug you can just turn over. It’s merely a scar that covers a deep, dark gash that hate carved in your soul.”

Series order: Changing Course  | Stolen Course | Among The Echoes  | Broken Course

Hate: A Love Story by Laurel Ulen Curtis

I went into this book totally blind, not knowing anything other than the fact that it was love story of sorts… and by doing that, it added to all the heart wrenching goodness that is this book. I will share this… The book will induce an ugly cry, or several, so have the tissues nearby. Laurel nailed it. I can’t say any more because I don’t want to spoil anything. Just know, this book is simply amazing.

“What’s it like?…To be loved by someone and know they love you back?”
“It’s…powerful…and completely debilitating all at the same time. It’s ecstasy and agony, and it’s one of the single most terrifying feelings in the world…. It’s safety and danger, and the thought of living without it after you’ve had it is almost enough to make you stay away. But only almost. It’s the most fulfilling thing I’ve ever experienced.”

Assumption: Underground Kings by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Aurora Rose Reynolds has yet to disappoint me. I adore each and every one of her OTT alpha males and her strong female leads. Assumption was no exception. I loved Autumn’s spunkiness. And Kenton? Oh, Kenton. So rough on the outside, so adoring of the ones he loves on the inside. One of my favorite possessive traits was how he would wrap her hair around his hand when they feel asleep! So beautiful. Well done, Mrs. Reynolds, well done.

“You’re the glue that holds all of my broken pieces together”

Exposed by Fate (Entangled Brazen) (Serve) by Tessa Bailey

This. This book. This amazingly beautiful and steaming HOT book. What can I say to do it justice? This story was way more than what I expected…and I expected a lot. You see, I’m a hard core Tessa Bailey fan…I mean, mad hard core. So I knew I was in for a fantastic ride. Tessa told this story so so well. There was significantly more depth to it than just a dirty taking dominant playboy educating a successful interior designer trying to find and own her sexuality. There was so much more. I had so many feels reading this book. From hurt to love. From f#ckhot to sensuality sweet. This is a book about forbidden romance…two people who have known each other forever, but it was always “look but don’t touch”.

I fell hard for Oliver. He was hiding so much under the playboy facade he’d created for himself. And Eliza, who’d thrown herself so heavily into her work, her life was passing by. This couple was exquisite!
Overall, I give this book 10 stars for storyline and 10 flames for heat. It did, after all, have THE hottest shower scene in the history of ever.

Standing ovation, Tessa!!!

“How did I survive this long without you? I love you, Eliza. It’s all I can feel. I’m made of it. If you’ve got even an ounce of this for me, I’m so damn grateful.”

Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan

I adored this book. So unique. So original. So beautiful. If you haven’t read it yet, GET IT NOW…seriously, stop what you are doing and click this book now. I’ll wait…..you can thank me later….after your world has been rocked on its axis.

“I didn’t know enough to dream of you, Bree, but somehow you came true anyway, How did that happen?… Who read my mind and knew exactly what I wanted, even when I didn’t?”

Staking His Claim (Entangled Brazen) (A Line of Duty) by Tessa bailey

Matt Donovan. Matt mother effing Donovan. It’s no secret that I adore Tessa Bailey and all of her dirty talking alphas. But Matt Donovan has a special place in my heart. This story was fantastic. I gobbled it up in one sitting…foregoing bathroom breaks and other important things, like eating. Check it out…you won’t regret it.

“Lucy Mason, you brought the color in. You brought me to life when I didn’t even realize that I’d stopped breathing.”

Seriously??? SWOON!!!!

Apartment 2B by K Webster

So beautiful. So completely soul wrenching. So utterly perfect. I don’t want to give anything away, so all I can say is BUY THIS BOOK. You will not regret it.
Pure genius.

“With one last glance over my shoulder, I feel whole knowing that they are happy. That’s my last thought as I find peace. At last.”

Closer to the Edge (Playing With Fire #4) by Tara Sivec

Wow. I don’t even have words to describe my feelings after reading this book. This story was the perfect end to this series. I had ALL the feels…I was happy, swooning, laughing, heartbroken, angry, and so very sad…then I felt healed, warm, and joyous. This was a sensationally BRILLIANT masterpiece from Tara Sivec. I can’t write a review that would do it justice. All I can say is buy this book, grab some wine and tissues, and settle in for a beautifully emotional ride.

“You’re my home, my future, my everything…you’re my yellow door, Liv.”

Just when I thought this series was utter perfection, Tiffany binds my heart and soul with her writing bondage. This book showed me why it’s called The Original Sinners. I loved every second of it. Take – (Temptation series book 2)- Ella Frank – I was so excited when I saw the cover for Take! I just knew Ella was going to deliver another amazing M/M story of Logan and Tate. I could read this book over and over. So damn HOT! “You make me crazy and furious and out of my mind with need, but in the end you make me so fucking happy. I can’t ever remember feeling this way.” **….and queue mini moan**

Make sure you read Try first (so freaking hot, the m/m for first timers.)

.

Fade In- M. Mabie – I stumbled upon this book by accident. It was like the universe aligned and had me run into this author on a post of Tara Sivec’s. It was meant to be! The characters in this book need to be my best friends. They would get me.My heart went out to Tatum as she was dealing with major life changes. However, my panties when out to the laundry after Ben showed up! He is in the running for serious book boyfriend status. Click this for a heartfelt yet hilarious ride!

.
Ricochet –(Renegades, book 3)– Skye Jordan – This could be my favorite of the series. Nathan is an Army Ranger. He is emotionally broken and looking for an escape before he goes back to the fields. Rachel Hart is looking for the same thing. Just to let loose and have some fun. ”I’m offering you exactly what you want. No-strings, no-shame, no-limits, no-complications, wicked-good sex. Complete with an agreed-upon end date, a vow of secrecy and an eight-thousand-mile anti-stalking guarantee when it’s over.” This was a very emotional read but in a beautiful HOT way.
Series: Reckless  | Rebel  | Ricochet  | Rumor

Kaleidoscope (Colorado Mountain Series Book 6) by  Kristen Ashley- I love a story about people who were friends at first and then something more. Jacob Decker had his heart broken years ago and fate brought him to Gnaw Bone and back to Emme Holmes. Their story is sweet in only a way that KA can deliver.

“Because it means that much to me, I’m gonna handle this with care. You just gotta believe me.”

.

If Only- (Masters of the Shadowlands book 8) – Cherise Sinclair – I absolutely LOVE the series. I was hoping at some point to read about Sally’s story and finally Cherise delivers! We see Sally give up on having a Dom of her own. Thankfully, Galen and Vance ( CO-TOPS!!!) come to her rescue in more ways than one. The books was off the charts HOT. Did I mention CO-TOPS?

See the Shadowlands series, and get the first one FREE! SO GOOD! They can stand alone.

.

Corps Security Series – Harper Sloan – I’m cheating a little and putting this whole series on my list. One, because at some point this year I have read them all and two you can pre-order the WHOLE series to be released on Jan 13. Hot. Alpha. Pierced, Tattooed, Sexy as Fuck Men!! This series has it all plus some glitter.

Series order: Axel  (review) | Cage (review)| Beck (review)| Uncaged  (review)| Cooper  (review)| Locke (review)

.
Archer’s Voice Mia Sheridan – I honestly can’t believe there are people on this earth that haven’t read this yet. I want to be like Oprah and scream ~ AND YOU GET ONE! AND YOU GET ONE! AND YOU GET ONE! This love story of sweet Archer Hale and Bree Prescott was a beautiful read. Such a different and heart warming story. You can’t help but want Archer for your very own.

.
Passion and Ponies ( Chocoholics book 2) – Tara Sivec – I’ve never wanted to have a Brony in my life until I read this book. She really opened up my eyes. There has to be a Tyler in the world looking for me!! This is exactly what we have grown to love and snort laugh with a Tara Sivec story. I read this book in one sitting because, honestly, I just couldn’t stop!

“PANCAKES, PANCAKES, MOTHER FUCKING PANCAKES!”

.

Lovely Trigger (Tristan & Danika Book 3) RK Lilley – This has to be way high up on my list of favorite couple. I absolutely love them together. I loved the visit from the Up In The Air series characters but I was greedy for more Tristan! Passionate, tragic and sexy – my must read of 2014.

As with most people, there is always a book waiting in the wings on a TBR needing to be read. I’m a major fangirl of Jasinda Wilder and if she writes a menu, I’m going to be there grabbing it so Alpha is a TOP 2014 pick for me, as is Frenched. There are others I have been dying to read like Archer’s Voice and anything by Tara Sivec, but my favorite and top read of 2014 is CARNAGE by Lesley Jones so I highly recommend you get on that bandwagon with lots of tissues in hand.

In 2022, the entire Tattered and Torn series released, and I loved every single one of them. I listened to them all on audio, and they each deserve a place on my Best of 2022 list, especially Fractured Sky, which I gave a rare 5+++ stars to.

They also have the most beautiful covers!

The first two audiobooks in this unrelated series The first two audiobooks in this unrelated series were on my Best of 2021 List, and Seatmate by @carabastone has continued the streak for my Best of 2022 list. The full cast narration and the production of this “audioplay” is what made Seatmate a 5-star read for me. I really felt like I was eavesdropping on a real conversation. This was a quick and fun listening experience, and though it’s nothing epic, it stood out to me in 22.

I enjoyed The Back Nine by Rachel Blaufeld. It’s I enjoyed The Back Nine by Rachel Blaufeld. It’s rare to find books about older couples and I so appreciate when an author writes a sexy one. I had a couple of issues with it, and I really struggled with the heroine’s name, James. Every time I read her name (and the female MC for the next book is Billy) my brain had to catch up for a second that it was a girl.

Taking the Leap by Kristen Ashley is my favorite book she has written in a while. It very much focuses on Alex and Rix and it didn’t feel like I had to remember a ton of other characters. I felt their chemistry and how perfect they are for each other.
I love how Kristen handled a disabled hero. This is one you don’t want to miss! Have you read it yet?
