Uncaged (Corps Security 3.5) by Harper Sloan
Adult Contemporary. Does not stand alone. Please read the first three before reading this.
“I love you, my Beauty.”
“And I love you, my Beast.”
Wow. Wowowowowowow. I just didn’t expect that! Going in, I thought Uncaged by Harper Sloan was a sweet, quick epilogue to Cage. While reading, I was crying and laughing at the same time thinking how much I loved the sweet epilogue. I didn’t have my reading progress turned on to know I had so much more to go. SO. MUCH. MORE. and I mean that in two ways. It was a full story itself, so it was more than the short, sweet epilogue I thought it was. And it brought all the feels. ALL OF THEM.
“There isn’t a damn thing in this world that can keep us from our happily ever after,” he vows before kissing me sweetly. “Sleep, Beauty.”
Cage is back with his “Trifecta of vaginal bliss”. Uncaged begins during the events of Cage, and then fast forwards to 6 months later. The beginning shows just how excited Cage is to learn that Melissa is expecting a baby. They are so sweet and happy, and there are some really fun scenes of all the Corps Security “family” together. I love the way the guys tease each other, and love to tease Greg about his piercings.
“Would have thought with as many as he’s rocking, that those little swimmers wouldn’t have a chance”.
Even better is Cohen…sigh…I love that little boy to pieces. And the fact that Cage is such an amazing daddy to him just had me melting. I was a total puddle of goo. Cage and Melissa are doing great. Her pregnancy agrees with her, and she gets the good side effects of pregnancy…horny all the time. Despite her big belly, they find a way to do the nasty (and do it well and very often) despite Greg’s fear of hurting her.
“Does my woman want my dick? Huh? Do you want me to take it slow, letting each one of my piercings rub against you, rub inside of that wet pussy until it hits that spot that always makes you fly through the roof?”
I loved the scene with Melissa having to get up and pee all the time while Maddox holds her close (my guy did that).
“Only to wake up ten minutes later, fighting free of his hold before I wet the bed…again.”
So here I was, crying the happy, sappy tears. I mean Greg is just so in love. And things are so awesome.
“There are moments in your life when you know that a higher power is at work. That someone is hard at work making sure that all the bad you’ve ever felt in your life is cashed in for something so incredibly perfect it doesn’t seem real.”
While crying the happy tears, I burst out laughing at his recollection of the sonogram.
“What the hell? My baby has two heads!?” I practically scream. Why is everyone so calm? My baby is going to be born with two heads!”
That moment cemented my love for the book. And I was only about a quarter in.
Cohen, being such an amazing big brother, a mini alpha, made me bawl again.
“I gotta know! Was I right? Am I going to have a sister? I have to know so I can practice. I gotta protect my sister!”
So Harper, being the total crazy whore she is, decided to go THERE again. Tragedy strikes Corps security once again, and my bubble of swoony happiness burst all over my face. (Yes, I even messaged Harper to yell at her.)
Seriously, as much as Harper knows how to kill you with emotions. I never put Uncaged Down. It was pure perfection crammed into 150 pages.
“HA! Daddy has his wiener rings in! Daddy, your wiener is funny looking with mommy’s earrings in there!” He starts dancing around the room, chanting about my goddamn wiener rings.
- Cohen. That boy has my heart! Love him!
- Cage is the most loyal, loving beast ever.
- Hot sex!
- Realistic portrayals of pregnancy and the hospital.
- How the whole Corps gang stood together for each other.
- Aaaahhhhmazing epilogue!
- Maddox. We got a lot more of him, and boy, I can’t wait for his book. And guess what? He is pierced too!
Rating: 5+++++ Stars, 4.5 Heat
Harper totally hit it out of the park with Uncaged. Even though it was a novella, it was a very full story. We already know the characters, since this book doesn’t stand alone, so there was no wasting of pages. The whole book was chock-full of wonderful story, emotion, love, heartbreak, fear, sex, humor and everything else you could want in a book. Uncaged is up there with my favorite books of the year so far, and the whole Corps Security Series is a must read.
