Burned by Tara Sivec
Erotic Romance. Standalone.
Seriously, Tara Sivec can do no wrong. The woman can re-write the phone book and make it either hysterically funny, hot as hell, exciting, or emotional. The whore can write any genre and just does it so damn well! If you don’t know that I totally stalk her and try to hump her leg when I see her, now you do. I’m also proud to say that I have made out with Tara. Yup, tongue and all. I’d totally go gay for her! (Though I must say, Mr. Ana was thrilled to see it happen the second time).
Okay, so this review is not about my Tara obsession. Honestly, if the book sucked, no matter how much I love her, I would still have an honest review here. Luckily, I fucking loved it.
Tara has decided to continue her tradition of sending me some release day videos for me to put together and post. I thought a sex tape would be the best one for this release since it was so hot, but Tara shot that idea down. We had shooting the first time, then shopping…sex starts with an s!!!
See my review below the trailers.
Tara’s husband still has learned to turn the damn phone. Quality is a little messed up, but hell, it’s Tara, who cares?

Seventeen years old when he broke my heart.
Seventeen days later when another picked up the pieces.
Seventeen years together.
Seventeen thousand problems.
Seventeen days of reliving my past and finding a new future.
Seventeen minutes until it all went up in flames.
Seventeen breaths until I took my last.
This is my story…and it’s going to burn.

“Fuck, the things I want to do to your body should be illegal.”
I knew Tara was writing an erotic novel. I’m not sure what I expected, but it certainly wasn’t the deep, emotional, suspenseful story I got. I expected the steam, and oh boy, Tara delivered (I will never look at a big speaker again without getting ideas), but the realism in the story felt personal. Like she was writing about me, about her best friend, or about herself, similar to Watch Over Me. I felt the personal connection with the story.
Finnley was married for 12 years after 5 years of dating the guy she met in her senior year of High School (17 years). She began dating her husband after her first love, Collin, broke her heart in a note. Finnley’s marriage was a rough one. She threatened to leave many times, cried that she couldn’t take it any more, but her husband was a drug abuser who lied and promised and pleaded until Finnley forgave him every time. (This part was just so real. I know so many people who have been through something similar!) Until Finnley finally just stopped caring. And when she asks him to leave this time, there is no apology that will change her mind.
“The silence in my house engulfs me. I close my eyes and breathe for the first time in months.”
Jordan was the only man Finnley had ever had sex with. She had come close with Collin in the two years they were together, but never went all the way. After 17 years of lies and cheating, Finnley was kind of lost. Over the years she had given up all that was her to be Jordan’s wife.
Until she goes out to celebrate her official separation with her best friend and bumps into Collin, her first love, all grown up and a hot as hell firefighter.
“I’m probably going to regret everything about this night, aren’t I? Finnley asks Phina with a laugh.”
My lips brush her ear to whisper, “Hopefully you won’t regret everything about tonight”
To Collin, Finnley was the girl that got away, The one his best friend stupidly talked him into breaking up with in a note, and by the time he realized his mistake, it was too late. But there was no denying the chemistry between them, then or now.
“Collin and I both had a strange fascination with fire and I’ve always wondered if that was one of the reasons I was drawn to him. Collin and I looked at fire and saw possibilities. He saw the opportunity to save a life, and I saw a chance to make something beautiful.”
Finnley used to create incredible gunpowder art, and Collin fully expected her to become a famous artist.
“You were my fire Collin. I lost the desire to play with it when you left.”
The chemistry the couple has as soon as they meet up again is off the charts.
“You’re playing with fire, Lee (his nickname for Finnley) he growls as I shift my hips against him until I can feel the hardness of his obvious arousal.”
Let me tell you, when Finnley and Collin are finally alone together, Holy Hell!
“Open your eyes, Lee. I want you to watch me suck your clit into my mouth and push my tongue inside you.”
Did I tell you that Collin was a hot dirty talking, up against the wall firefighter?
“Do you want me to fuck you up against this wall, Finnley?” he whispers, running his hand back up my thigh until he’s clutching my bare ass.”
But it’s not just sex between Finnley and Collin, though the sex is fuckhot. The connection and the feeling that they are meant to be is very clear.
“You are everything to me, Finnley, everything. I have loved you since I was fifteen years old and I’m never going to stop.”
Burned was not just a second chance love story that was totally hot. Oh no, Tara did even more with it, she added suspense and some angst for such a perfectly well rounded story. I’m not sure you can classify it as erotica, there was too much story (though there was plenty of sex!)
“The look in Collin’s eyes as he continues to turn up the bass tells me he is definitely going to fuck me like an animal right now. And he’ll make me love every dirty minute of it.”
Likes:
- How much story Tara packed into a relatively short book (just under 200 pages).
- The totally hot dirty sex.
- The realism of Finnley’s marriage.
- Collin {swoon}.
- I loved the whole gunpowder art thing, I watched videos of it with my family.
- Big speakers (you’ll see).
- Edge of your seat suspense added to the story.
- The switching from Finnley’s to Collin’s POV and to Finnley’s flashbacks were seamless and I never had an issue following who was speaking.
- Definite build up to another book about their friends.
Dislikes:
- I wish I got to know Collin a little more.
- I had trouble with the names. Finnley could be a guy’s name, Jordan can be a girl’s and at first I had a hard time separating who was who. (Minor)
Rating: 5 Stars, 5 heat
It’s amazing what Tara is able to pack into this fairly quick read. It had everything. Epic romance, realism, suspense, humor, angst, and completely hot dirty talking fireman sex. The quality of Tara’s writing is incredible and it’s amazing how she was just able to nail another genre. Burned is one you don’t want to miss. Beware, you may need to visit my Red Room of Pain (and Pleasure) before you read this!
“Once wasn’t enough. Twice wasn’t sufficient. Every day until I die wouldn’t stop the burn.”
