This is a record breaking month! I have never had so many high-rated books in one month! 3 5 stars and a 5++++ star reread plus a 4.75 and 2 4.5stars! WOW, that is an INCREDIBLE reading month! Below is my recap with the down and dirty review summary from each review. Click the titles for more detailed reviews including favorite quotes and likes and dislikes.
Book Review – On the Plus Side by Alison Bliss
“A smile lifted his cheeks, and his hand made a couple of slow circles over the round curve of her cheek, as if winding up for the pitch. Then he smacked her on the ass even harder this time, leaving behind a subtle sting in his palm from the effort. A sharp gasp flew from her lips, and a red hand print appeared almost instantly.”
I started this series because I wanted to read about plus sized heroines, being one myself. But this story refers to her as curvaceous, but other than that, her size has absolutely no baring on the story, and was barely a blip. I loved the first, but this one, for me, didn’t come close. I did laugh out loud, and I like her writing, but I really hated that this confident, adult woman was treated like a child and took it, and then proved she deserved it at one point. I want to read the next in the series, but I am hoping that we address the “plus size” title of “More to Love”.

Audiobook Review – The Catch by K. Bromberg
Narrated by Andi Arndt and Joe Arden
“I want you. All of you. Your flaws. Your mistakes. Your achievements. Your shortcomings. Your love.”
The Catch was so much more than I ever expected. While I really loved The Player, I only gave it 4.25 stars mostly because I thought it could be told in one book. I WAS WRONG. This was a duet in every sense. There was a full storyline in The Catch and SO MUCH happened. I will actually be noting on the first review that I was wrong and upping my rating. The Catch was so well written, so emotional and chock-full of surprises I couldn’t have imagined a better conclusion. I would count The Catch and now the duet as one of my 2017 favorites even though sports romances aren’t usually my thing. This couple was just so real and genuine together that I couldn’t help but fall for them.

Audiobook Review – Beautiful Mistake by Vi Keeland
Narrated by Sebastian York & Andi Arndt
“If I weren’t your professor and you weren’t a nice girl, your re-virginized pussy would be sore as hell right now”
Beautiful Mistake is so much more than a sexy student-teacher romantic comedy. She is 25, so it never really felt taboo or forbidden, it was more of a workplace romance, since he is a professor and she is his TA. The connection they had was electric and it could have been a simple romance between co-workers, but with a detailed back story plus some really amazing chemistry, hot dirty talking sex and a major story twist, Beautiful Mistake is definitely worth picking up.

Book Review – Plus One by Mae Wood
Note: This now has a new cover
If you are a foodie or wine connoisseur Plus One would probably be a great read for you. It was a large part of the story and something I am not at all interested in. Though it stands alone, I did feel like I missed something, and would have enjoyed it more had I been introduced to the characters better from the prior books. Bert was a hot, tattooed, almost 40, single dad restauranteur who was delicious. The storyline was realistic and sexy, but it took me 10 days to read, as it never “called to me” to pick it up, I found myself on Facebook more often than reading. It just kind of stagnated in the middle to me. I enjoyed the end, but I would recommend Plus One only to the food/wine/craft beer/biking/swimming healthy crowd which is as far from me as you can get!

Audiobook Review – Trust by Kylie Scott
Narrated by Andi Arndt
“Now I know how much there is to be afraid of and it terrifies me. But at the same time, I feel like if I could live through that, what happened to us, then I can survive anything. Like, what is there really to be afraid of?”
Trust by Kylie Scott is an older young adult book that deals with some pretty serious and very real issues for teens. It was a compelling and unique story and I hung on to every word. Despite some of the upsetting themes, it still had a hopeful, almost happy vibe. I really loved the main characters and their friends and reading a YA was a good change of pace. Though I love Andi Arndt as a narrator, I did feel that her voice was a little too mature for the book, but of course, she was still pretty great. I highly recommend this one, but for me, I think I would choose the book over the audiobook.

Audiobook Review – Dating You Hating You by Christina Lauren
Narrated by Shayna Thibodeaux and Deacon Lee
“Simply put, Evelyn Abbey is my former almost-girlfriend-turned-archnemesis-turned-tentative-ally whom I would now very much like to permanently seduce.”
Dating You, Hating You by Christina Lauren was a very well-written and well-paced workplace romance. It was a fun and different read, and definitely centered more on the workplace than on the romance. I loved how sexism in the workplace was such a large part of the story, and I was entertained and interested throughout. I just didn’t fall in love with him or her. I enjoyed the book thoroughly, but I never felt the all-encompassing love between the couple. Yes, they were perfect for each other and had chemistry, but I never really felt them fall in that all-consuming way. I would say this straddles the line between romance and chick-lit for me.

Audiobook Review – The Silent Waters by Brittainy C. Cherry
Narrated by Erin Mallon & Joe Arden
“I hadn’t known you could hear someone’s voice so clearly in the silent moments.”
This is almost a 5 star read overall, but there were a few storyline why’s that just didn’t sit well with me. I get that things needed to happen for a dramatic storyline, but it just seemed like it was too easy for her to just hide away her whole life. Still, the emotions this brought out, the epic saga with a life-long connection despite all the odds, the tears it brought, the love, heartache, fear, anger and hope it stirred up made for an amazing read that I would recommend to everyone.
*Note: I will not be rating on the heat scale for this, this is not the reason to read it.

Audiobook Reread Review – Games of the Heart by Kristen Ashley
Narrated by Rachel Fulginiti
“And you’ll get used to bein’ my woman and I’ll explain what that means. I’ll take shit but my woman won’t,” he leaned in and finished, “EVER. Not people feedin’ it to her directly and not indirectly through me.”
Even over 5 years later, I agree with my original assessment that Games of the Heart is one of my TOP FAVORITE Kristen Ashley books, and that’s saying a lot! It was a full, detailed, rich story, filled with second chances, heartbreak, older love, young love, family, teenage kids (my favorite), and one of the coolest heroines ever. I felt the full gamut of emotions while reading this long and well-developed story, and not once did my attention drift, which is rare for an audiobook, and even rarer for a re-read. I was actually very surprised at how much I remembered, because I don’t remember as much for most re-reads, but this stuck with me the first time for good reason. Games of the Heart is a Kristen Ashley MUST READ.

Book Review – Twisted Twosome by Meghan Quinn
“I need a penis in my life, and I need it now… Before I do something stupid like throw myself at the disgusting, pigheaded – way too hot – Racer McKay.”
There was some absolute laugh-out-loud moments, there was some very hot & sexy moments, and there was definitely some awwwwwww moments in Twisted Twosome. But I just never completely fell for it as much as all of Meghan’s other books I have read. I still really enjoyed it and recommend it, but I think I was never able to completely get over my dislike for Georgiana at the beginning, and reallynever liked her best friend. I did, however, like the visits from previous characters, so at least there were some friends I loved. Still, I’d love to see more from this crew, do we get Smalls and Adalyn book next? Note: after finishing this review, I went at looked at other reviews, as I often do. Many people say this is their favorite Meghan Quinn book.

Audiobook Review – Wrong by Jana Aston
Narrated by Erin Mallon
“It’s so wrong that it feels so good.”
“It’s never wrong when I’m inside you. Never.”
Wrong by Jana Aston is a quick, sexy, dirty, funny, taboo read featuring a young 21 year old and her gyno. There is a good amount of anal, so if you don’t like that, this is not a good book for you. There is not really a lot of relationship or character development or communication. It’s more lust turned to love, but that was OK with me. It was sexier and way dirtier than I expected and believe me, I am NOT complaining. Since this was the author’s first book, I have heard they get even better, and though this story lacked some things, getting better from here is saying a lot. I can’t wait to read more!

Book Review and Interview – The Time In Between by Kristen Ashley
I’d spent half a lifetime wanting to take care of Coert Yeager and now that I had my chance, I wasn’t missing any of it.
I didn’t share all of that with Coert but I knew he got it when he asked gently, “Running to catch up?”
“As fast as I can.”
Sigh….Swoon….The Time In Between is the perfect alpha male romance. Featuring an EPIC second chance romance, a mature couple who knows what they want, a great kid and amazing dog, a wonderful extended family and friends and a beautifully scenic location, The Time In Between joins the first two in the Magdalene series as all-time favorites. This is Kristen Ashley at her best. This series focuses on mature couples blending families rather than the explosions and kidnappings and motorcycles of some of the other series, but there is still drama and excitement, it’s just a bit more tame. I am so sad to see the series end here, but it seemed pretty clear that this was it for Magdalene. Luckily, you can keep reading below for my exclusive interview to see what’s next!

Audiobook Review – Royally Endowed by Emma Chase
Narrated by Andi Arndt and Shane East
“Somebody once told me a slow-burning fire is the hottest— and it must be true. Because Logan and I are a fucking inferno.”
At the beginning of this series, I never thought I’d like a story about royalty of a fake country, it just seems so cheesy and like a kids’ fairytale. But I have loved every word Emma had written prior, so I trusted her, and fell in love. This is another favorite series, and this last installment was just as great (even better in some ways) than the others. While it can stand alone ok, I would say you really need to read from the beginning of the series to fully appreciate the whole thing. Royally Endowed was the perfect mix of slow burn love, opposites attract, unrequited love, forbidden romance, romantic comedy, bodyguard romance and romantic suspense all in one, and I felt every emotion, including good and bad tears, laughter and lots of swoons.

Book Review – Commitment by K.M. Golland
“Most women prioritise it below chores. Why is that? It just doesn’t make sense. A chore is something you don’t want to do but do because you have to. Most women treat sex like a chore, and that’s a huge problem. Sex should not be a chore. Sex is pleasurable.”
Commitment is a must read for married couples, both men and women alike. I loved reading about a long-time married couple trying to find the spark they once had. Major temptation, lots of laughs, introspection, sexy times and great advice from friends show that marriage isn’t always smooth sailing. It takes work on both parts and the failure of a marriage can also happen from just being complacent. Commitment stood alone just fine, and I don’t think it’s necessary to read previous books in the series, but I really love KM Golland’s sometimes raunchy, sometimes immature humor, and will now be looking out for more new releases from her, I hope we have another with a more mature couple! Commitment was so unique in that it is a married romance, and it’s a top pick for this blog, already on my upcoming Best of 2017 list.

1. I Do(n’t) by Leddy Harper
I fell in love with Holden York when I was six years old.
Most of my youth came with spiral notebooks filled with doodles, wedding plans, and “Janelle York” looped in bubbly handwriting.
However, one night in Vegas changed everything.
I woke up to more than just a fantasy of my brother’s best friend.
Five years later, I’m standing on his doorstep confronting him about the secret he kept from me.
If you think this is the story of how we rode off into the sunset together…
You’re so wrong.
But if you think this is the story of how Holden blackmailed me into living with him…
You couldn’t be more right.
2. The Time in Between (The Magdalene Series Book 3) by Kristen Ashley
After a painful loss, Cady Moreland is coming to Magdalene to start the next chapter of her life. A chapter that began eighteen years ago but had a heartbreaking ending. The time in between was full of family and friendship, but Cady could never get the man she fell in love with all those years ago out of her heart.
Coert Yeager has learned to live without the girl who entered his life right when she shouldn’t and exited delivering a crippling blow he never would have suspected. The time in between was full of failing to find what he was missing…and life-altering betrayal.
But when that girl shows up in Magdalene and buys the town’s beloved lighthouse, even if Coert wants to avoid her, he can’t. A fire in town sparks a different kind of flame that won’t be ignored.
As Cady and Coert question the actions of the two young adults they once were thrown into earth-shattering circumstances, can they learn from what came in between and find each other again?
3. Hotshot (The Bennett Brothers Book 1) by Ahren Sanders

I was wrong—outrageously, deliriously, and beautifully wrong.

Loyal, devoted, and the most loving man on this Earth.
Together, we create an explosion of fiery passion, devotion, and chemistry I never knew was possible.

4. Drunk Dial by Penelope Ward
THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new, sexy standalone novel.
It seemed like a good idea at the time. Look up Landon Roderick, that boy from childhood whom I’d never been able to forget–even though he so easily forgot about me–and call him.
Then again, anything sounds like a good idea when you’ve had a little too much wine before bed, right? It was supposed to be just a quick, meaningless, prank call. Instead, I went off on him–unloading thirteen years of pent-up emotions.
I didn’t think he’d call me back.
I certainly could never have anticipated the weeks of sexually tense phone conversations that followed as I got to know the man he’d become.
Turned out, Landon had never really forgotten me, either. That special connection we had was still there. I opened up to him, but there were also things about me he didn’t know. And he had his own secrets.
Over the countless hours we talked on the phone, I wondered what would happen if we actually saw each other. One night, I did something impulsive again. Only this time, I went to the airport and booked a ticket to California. We were about to find out if one phone call could bring two lost souls together or if my drunk dial really was all just a big mistake.
A complete STANDALONE.
I just finished listening to the audiobook and LOVED it. Review to come.
My life. My way. Until she arrives and shakes my reality to the core.
As a former MC member and the best damn bike mechanic in the state, I’ve turned my back on everything my rich family expects of me. I don’t need their money or their expectations. Screw them all. I’m doing just fine on my own.
Until the day my life changes, and I become a full-time single father to a little girl I hardly know. Her arrival creates a tailspin I don’t know how to correct.
Then I receive an offer I can’t refuse from the billionaire family I detest. I don’t like selling out by being a sex symbol for the family company, but it comes with enough money to give my little girl everything she needs.
And, then there’s my corporate babysitter/boss… wow. Ass, tits, and legs for days.
Maybe I can do this father thing. This corporate thing. This lover thing.
If being this close to my family doesn’t destroy me first.

8. (tie) After Our Kiss by Nora Flite
I was thirteen when I was kidnapped.
Fourteen when he helped me escape.
Twenty-three before I ever saw him again.
His face is all over the news: he’s a wanted man, now. Maybe my memory played tricks on me… but he looks so different. The boy who saved me years ago had a shy smile and dark, soulful eyes full of secrets.
This man has a hard jaw and a harder mouth. Lips that could never whisper sweet promises.
I knew him as a hero—my savior. I refuse to believe he could become a villain.
Not him.
Then he abducts me, proving me wrong.
He tells me he’s going to take me apart and put me back together again. Make me what he needs me to be: a plaything for a monster.
It’s the fate I escaped when I was fourteen. And that’s when I finally understand.
He was never my hero.
He’s the man who’s going to break me.
Author’s Note: This is a Dark Romance. Approach with that in mind. This full-length novel has a happily ever after, but the trip there might make some uneasy… and I do care about your feelings. I honestly do. So if dark is new to you, read some reviews first to gauge your comfort level.
