Audiobook Review – Playing With Her Heart by Lauren Blakely
“He nods, then presses his lips lightly to my forehead. “You are my sin.” He brushes them gently against my earlobe. “And my heaven.” Then the barest of kisses on my lips. “And everything in between.”
I love Lauren Blakely’s writing style. Just a perfect amount of heat, dirty talking, romance and alpha-ness. But in Playing With Her Heart I never fell in love with the characters. I think it may be because I really did not like the narrators. I recommend the book, but I think this should be read, not listened to. I must mention that I saw other reviewers loved the male narrator and he narrates so many other great books, but to me he sounded like an old man.
Book Review – That Man Trilogy by Nelle L’Amour
“Dentist shmentis. Bubala, with your looks, you could do a lot better. Get yourself a nice rich man with a big shmekel like that Christian Grey— or my grandson.”
The That Man Series by Nelle L’Amour started out really great to me. Fast moving, sexy and funny, I couldn’t get enough. Bringing in our world of book signings and erotic romances made it so much more fun because it’s like recognizing your friends in books. But the third book in the series really dragged for me and lost a lot of humor of the first 2. The first two would be 4.25 stars. The last would be 3.25 stars. As a series, I will stick with 3.75. I did buy Gloria’s Secret which is about another couple in the book, so I look forward to reading more by Miss L’Amour.
Book Review – Bindings by Kate Roth
“You’ve disappointed me, Sloane” Leo whispered.
“I’m sorry,” I murmured. The sound of something slicing through the air rang out quickly and then I simultaneously heard and felt a thick crack as his black leather clad palm spanked my ass.
Bindings was a fresh take on the BDSM novel. It’s beginning BDSM, but still totally hot. It goes through the psychology of BDSM and why some want it. The attraction between the hero and heroine was totally palpable and Leo was the perfect blend of sweet, sexy and dominant. I do wish I waited to read it until the next is out because I really think there is just too much I will need to remember before I read the next, and I rarely have time for re-reads. But if you have good retention I highly recommend Bindings. It’s a fresh new take on BDSM and I for one look forward to more.
Book Review – Trailer Park Virgin by Alexa Riley
“I want to sneak into her room and taste that young pussy that I know still has a cherry. It’s in there and it needs to be taken.”
Just know that it is pretty much as dirty and taboo as you will read, but it was weirdly hot as hell. If you are looking for romance, character development or a sweet love story, move along. This was just one giant, taboo, dirty smut fest! And I’m a little embarrassed to say I kind of loved it. (So did Mr. Ana when I jumped his bones).
Book Review – The Golden Dynasty by Kristen Ashley
“If you’re given the opportunity to look deep enough, you can see a person’s spirit in their eyes but usually, they are guarded, kept safe. Not you, my tigress, the night of your claiming, even in the moonlight, I could see your spirit shining from your eyes. You hold your spirit close to the surface for all to behold and it is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.”
I waited so long to read this series. I knew I’d get to it one day but wasn’t overly enthused. Fantasy or historical are not my thing. But I can’t stop thinking about it! Everything I LOVE about Kristen Ashley’s writing was here with the addition of magic and fantasy and a whole new world. Lahn was the ultimate in swoony alphas, and Circe was sweet, quirky, feisty and smart. I loved how they came together with a huge cultural and language barrier and built a relationship based on compromise and love. It’s 2 weeks later and I still have a book hangover and I can’t stop trying to re-work my schedule to fit the next in the series. I can’t wait to go back to Fantasyland!
The Golden Dynasty will go on my all-time favorites list.
Audiobook Review – Incite by Heather C. Leigh
“Having Ellie near me is like the sweetest pleasure wrapped around the worst torture I can think of. Every thought I have consists of me touching her, kissing her, and God help me, having her naked beneath me.”
Incite was an epic story spanning about a dozen years. It was filled with angst, so it’s perfect for all of you angst lovers. There was never a doubt the the two were each their best when they were together. Ellie was a strong character. Adam, despite acting alpha, was’t the strong one, she was, but I don’t necessarily agree with her decisions. There were some frustrating timeline issues jumping from past to present, but nothing too bad. For me though, the thing that made this audiobook so good was the narrators. I often find the narrators ruin a book for me, but in this case, I think they made me love it.
Book Review – Exposed by Jasinda Wilder
“The fact that part of me liked what was done to me. That part of me craves those moments of helpless weakness, those moments of belonging, of being owned, dominated, subjugated. I hate that part of me, and cannot speak it into truth.”
While I had some trouble getting into Madame X because of the 2nd person writing style and lack of contractions, I figured it would be easier with the second book. After all, Book 1 turned out to be one of my favorites of 2015. But this time it just plain got on my nerves and made me feel detached. her writing is, as always, incredible, I’m just not a fan of her talking to “you” throughout the book. Isabel’s ping ponging back and forth between the two men made me not really care as much what happened to her…until the end, when HOLY CRAP, what an ending! Exposed, to me, felt like the second book in a trilogy. Not a lot happened, but there was a lot of character growth, and a shit ton of sex. I still want to read Exiled in August to see what happens, because SO MUCH needs to be wrapped up!
Book Review – P*rn Star by Laurelin Paige and Sierra Simone
“I’m fucking miserable with the need to touch you and taste you. I’m obsessed with it. I’m obsessed with you.” I meet her eyes. “You have to tell me if that makes you uncomfortable. Because the way I think about you, the way I crave you, it’s not just like two performers. It’s not just like two friends.”
Porn Star was an enjoyable, well-written book. It just wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. I went in expecting a romcom from the cover and blurb, and it was more of an angst-filled political statement. There was a lot about the adult film industry, and the hero was a bit too able to separate his professional life from his personal life. I never quite fell in love with the characters, but they were both very likable. They just both seemed too innocent and immature for the industry they were in.
Book Review – Love, Chloe by Alessandra Torre
“Miss Madison?” His voice was gruff and sexual, the drawl you wanted to hear right before he bit your earlobe, the rasp that, should he moan your name, would combust your panties.”
I didn’t find out until the end that Love, Chloe actually began as a weekly blog serial for Cosmopolitan. You would never know, the flow was great. I would classify this book as a chick-lit romance, because it is more about Chloe finding her true self than the romance. The romantic story was my favorite part, and it didn’t begin until about halfway, but once it did, that’s when I went from enjoying the book to loving it, yet that part moved just a bit too quickly for me. I wanted more! I enjoyed the trendy instagram posts and absolutely loved the epilogue. All in all, a fun, unique, light read!
Audiobook Review – Underneath It All by Kate Canterbary
“I saw myself bending her over the desk, hiking up her dress, and taking her right now. And I saw her liking it. I spent a full minute on that thought before groaning inwardly. I was a dick. An unprofessional, single-minded dick and I didn’t like small, curvy girls who left their mojo all over me.”
The male/female narration for the Underneath it All audiobook was amazing and only enhanced the book. I totally fell for the sexy, dirty-talking architect, but felt like Lauren wasn’t fleshed out enough and fought him way too much. The sex was just the right amount (a lot) and dirty and growly. Underneath It All had all my favorites, Heart, Heat, Humor & HEA, and I look forward to listening to the next in the series.
Book Review – Drop Dead Sexy by Katie Ashley
“You can claim someone as legally dead at seven years, so my vagina was just a few months shy of being legally dead.”
Katie Ashley’s first true romantic comedy was a hit for me. I read it in one sitting and absolutely loved it. It was sexy, silly, funny and crazy and I really had an awesome day reading it. It was the first time I read a full-length book in one day in a really long time, I was just having so much fun I couldn’t stop! I loved both characters, and the over-the-top situations they found themselves in. I knew having a woman as a mortician/coroner would be funny, but I didn’t expect it to be so much fun! While I don’t usually like to compare books, in this case, I can’t help it, it had a similar feel to the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich (which I loved) but sexier and funnier. I hope Katie writes more like this!
Audiobook Review – Breaking Him by RK Lilley (Audiobook re-read)
There is only one heart in this universe that calls to mine, and it does call. Constantly, relentlessly, it sings out to me in a captivating, resonating voice.
Day after day, year after year, it calls to me.
But I won’t listen to it. It belongs to a liar.”
RK Lilley has done it again. She combined mystery, passion, sex, love, hatred, drama and angst together in an unputdownable story that has you craving more. Despite the damage this couple does to each other, you can’t help but root for them and hope this last quote comes true.
“All we are is proof that love can survive anything.”
Breaking Her by RK Lilley review and $50 Giveaway
“I did not know how far all of his betrayals ran, how deep or shallow his lies, but I was starting to realize that in one respect, at least, it didn’t matter.
Some part of my pathetic heart was going soft for him again.”
I thought it would be hard to end the Love is War duet as strongly as it began in Breaking Him. I mean, it would be really hard to top that! But RK Lilley completely blew me away. She had me guessing right up until the end. Scarlett and Dante were one of the most meant-to-be-together couples I have read, and I wanted to root for them despite the fact that they continued to hurt each other. RK Lilley’s writing has improved tremendously and you can really feel her skill in Breaking Her. Her use of foreshadowing made the book unputdownable and it is amazing how she made all these twists in her head and didn’t miss one hole in closure.
The Love is War duet may be RK Lilley’s best work to date. It combines the best parts of all of her other books in a new, fresh tale. Because, Dante.
Book Review- Felony Ever After 13 Authors. 1 Story.
“You’re a total criminal, aren’t you?”
“Have I stolen your heart yet?”
“What?”
“Don’t answer. I won’t take it until you give it freely.”
I absolutely loved Felony Ever After. I think it is one of my favorites so far this year. From the concept of 13 authors writing it together like a domino game, to the banter, to the mystery, to the romance, to the tweets & hashtags, to the sexy times, it was everything I love. Sure, it got a little silly at times, but with Helena Hunting and Debra Anastasia, I knew what I was in for and loved every second of it. If I were an author, I’d love to be part of writing this, because as a reader it seemed like they had a great time with it. I so hope they do it again!

2. Stripped Raw by Prescott Lane
Kenzie
I’m a yes girl. Get your mind out of the gutter; I’m not talking about sex. I’m talking about saying yes to whatever comes my way in life. So when I had the chance to move to Europe after college, I said, yes. When I had the chance to open my own lingerie line, I said, yes. And when my stepsister got diagnosed with cancer and needed me to come home and help her raise her daughter, I said, yes. That’s me, Kenzie — the yes girl! In every area of my life but one —Love. Always the first to leave a relationship. Will I be able to say yes to love — to Kane — to being happy? Or will I simply come undone and be stripped raw?
Kane
Don’t let Kenzie fool you! She’s a master at hiding behind a laugh and a smile. Being an attorney, I prefer the facts. This story isn’t as light and happy as my yes girl would have you believe. No laugh can sugarcoat what we are facing: I’ve lost everything. I know what it’s like to be left raw. But sometimes that’s the only way to find love. To strip yourself down, let the other person see all your sh*t, and hope they love you anyway.

3. Breaking Her by RK Lilley
The epic conclusion to Scarlett and Dante’s story.
Breaking Her
The Love is War Duet: Book Two
DESTRUCTION. BETRAYAL. RUINATION.
TRUE LOVE.
SCARLETT
He had done it again. Ravaged me. Burned me. Broken me.
Given me air, only to leave me gasping, writhing.
But then something changed. Something that terrified and excited me both.
Something that utterly destroyed me.
Something that made me whole again.
DANTE
Our love was cursed from the start. She didn’t know it, but I did.
All she knew was that I’d lied to her, betrayed her. Done unforgivable things. Unavoidable things. Yes, I had broken promises as surely as I had broken her heart. But, just as every war has casualties, and every lie has consequences–every bastard has his reasons.

4. The Air He Breathes by Brittainy Cherry
I was warned about Tristan Cole.
“Stay away from him,” people said.
“He’s cruel.”
“He’s cold.”
“He’s damaged.”
It’s easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster.
But I couldn’t do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him because it also lived inside of me.
We were both empty.
We were both looking for something else. Something more.
We both wanted to put together the shattered pieces of our yesterdays.
Then perhaps we could finally remember how to breathe.

If anyone had asked ten years ago, I never would have imagined I’d be a thirty-five-year-old widow today.
I could tell you I married Hartman Wick out of love, but it’s complicated. We were friends. He was dying. And he needed me. He also made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. Of course, I agreed with the very best of intentions. But we all know what the road to hell is paved with.
All I ever dreamed of was owning my own gallery. A place where my best friend and I could introduce the masses to inspiring and new artists. Hartman promised me the deed to the gallery, wealth, and security for the rest of my life.
Instead, I find myself in a war with his estranged son Kieran—my stepson and one of the most prolific painters, known for his erotic shock art. He’s been plotting revenge against his father for years, and now that Daddy’s dead, he’s seized the opportunity.
Between the constant battles, heated exchanges, and threats of blackmail, I find myself inexplicitly drawn to this twenty-four-year old. He’s beautiful, seductive, arrogant, and evil. Not only is he a gifted artist, but he’s certainly inherited some of his father’s more unsavory traits. He truly is a Wick.
But then he takes things too far and pushes me to my breaking point. I’ve had enough. In retaliation, I make a plan.
And I almost feel sorry for him—almost. I’m sure, even as a child, he was never read a single fairy tale. Poor bastard.
He has no idea how truly wicked a stepmother can be.

His name is Royal, but he’s no prince charming. He’s not even a prince – though you could say I loved him once upon a time.
He was my older brother’s best friend.
Growing up, he sat at our dinner table every Sunday, teased me mercilessly, and pretended I annoyed him.
When I was old enough, he took me on my first date.
Royal taught me how to drive. Escorted me to my junior prom. Gave me my first kiss…amongst other things. He was my first taste of toe-curling, all-consuming, can’t-sleep love.
We had our whole lives ahead of us. There was never anyone else for me but him.
And then he disappeared. No letter. No explanation. Not even a goodbye.
My sisters and brother never forgave him, and my parents forbade me from speaking his name in our house ever again. For all intents and purposes, we were to pretend Royal Lockhart never existed.

15. Night Shifts Black by Alyson Santos
This novel is a work of fiction and intended for mature readers. Events and persons depicted are of a fictional nature and use language, make choices, and face situations inappropriate for younger readers. Please note this book also addresses the issues of depression and suicide in a compassionate, realistic manner.
His name is Luke. But nobody knows that. He was an iconic musician before he gave up music. But nobody knows that either. They also don’t know he’s twenty-seven, that he used to have an infectious laugh, and that he’s way too young to be widowed. They certainly don’t know the rest of his tragic story. All they know is that he comes into their café at the same time every morning and stares at the same chair at the same table. They know he’s strange. They know he interrupts their breakfast with a cold blast of air as he hovers in the doorway, mustering the courage to confront a piece of furniture.
No one asks why. No one cares. He’s fine with that. He’s done with life. This isn’t even his story anymore. It’s actually Callie’s, the young writer who sat in his chair one day.

Finding love in the most unlikely of places, the passion is undeniable, but Clay and Melody know their haunted pasts and unpredictable futures leave the odds stacked against them.

20. Love, Chloe: a standalone novel by Alessandra Torre
From New York Times Bestseller Alessandra Torre…
You know girls like me. You hate girls like me. The privileged blonde who skips her Ivy League classes when she’s had too many martinis. The one draped on the asshole’s arm because he drives a Bugati and screws like a champ.
I was that girl. I loved being that girl.
Then, my door was broken in. Literally.
And in that moment? Everything changed.
WARNING: This sexy standalone has jaw-dropping moments, crazy sexual chemistry, and will make your cheeks hurt from smiling. Read at your own risk.
