JULY 2016 REVIEW RECAP
Book Review – The Firework Exploded by Tara Sivec
“Did we just have a moment, Fuck knuckle?” I ask with a laugh.
“Pretty sure we did, Dick Cheese. Can we stop now? All of these feelings and shit are starting to give me hives.”
With rom-coms being the new thing in books, there have been a lot of really great comedies lately. But nobody makes me laugh like Tara Sivec. She is over-the-top without being stupid. You totally want to meet all of her characters, and Scheva is my new fave! She is the Jenny of the Holidays (but not really stupid, just drunk lol). Filled with real people, real love, and total craziness, I kind of want to join The Holidays on their next adventure in real life. But maybe not, knowing this group, they’s probably light my hair on fire doing bong hits.

Tara’s Tidbits: Reaper by A. Zavarelli
“It’s not soft. It’s not sweet. It’s something wild and three long years in the making. A kiss that purges the memory of all other kisses before him.”
Reaper should be read after Crow which is book 1 in the Boston Underworld series. I know it says that it is a standalone but I feel like you do your sell a disservice if you don’t get the full story of all the characters involved. Watching these two characters try to come together put a smile on my face and for the first time in a long time had me not putting my kindle down because I wanted to know what was going to happen.

Book Review – Everywhere and Every Way by Jennifer Probst
“You think you’re the wild bad boy of the town, Caleb Pierce? Think you’re gonna shock my poor little southern heart by standing there, half naked, with an erection? Think I won’t take your dare, Charming? Think again.”
I love the concept of three brothers who build their relationships with each other, their business and women. As an HGTV lover, the interior design stuff was really enjoyable. I eventually liked all the characters a lot, but it took the entire first 50% of the book to get there, and I never fell in love the way I wanted to. I get that a series was being set up, but I felt the pacing was a little off. Even so, it was a hot book, and I think I may have enjoyed this one more with Sebastian York narrating, so I may grab the second book in the series, which was set up here, on audio when it releases next year.

Audiobook Review – Some Sort of Happy by Melanie Harlow
“From the moment I saw you again, I knew you could undo me. I knew I should stay away from you, but I couldn’t. I can’t. The only thing I can do is make you mine.”
I love that Melanie Harlow tackled a severe mental illness and made him the hero of the book. I had some trouble with both of the characters initially, but as I listened, I really ended up loving them. I had a small issue with the fact that the super-hot and dirty sex scenes didn’t go with the hero’s OCD personality, but I can suspend belief for the sake of a hot scene. All in all, I will continue this series if there are deals for the audiobook upgrade. Filled with heart, humor and heat, I really enjoy Melanie Harlow’s style of light-hearted stories with real characters that have me smiling throughout.

Book Review – Cream of the Crop by Alice Clayton
“I love watching your great big ass.”
“Hold up,” I said, placing one hand on his chest and slowing his roll. “Are you saying great big ass? Or great comma big ass?
He looked at me quizzically. “Great comma big ass?”
This was going to be harder than I thought. “Okay, I’m confused. So you’re not saying I have a great big…ass, you’re saying that I have a great…big ass. Meaning–”
“Your ass is big. And it’s great.” He dipped down to bring his face to within inches of mine. “How is that confusing?”
Natalie was totally another favorite character created by Alice Clayton. I just love her real, flawed heroines. Natalie was a plus-sized dynamo who totally owned her curves and her sexuality. She was the total New Yorker who never left the island, so seeing her in her designer shoes on a farm is hysterical. I read the entire book with a full-on smile on my face, and I totally rooted for her to get scooped up by the big, brooding, sexy dairy farmer. As sexy as Oscar was, I wish he were a little more aggressive in pursuing Natalie, but that is hardly a complaint. Cream of the Crop will be a book that stays in my mind. It was truly unique and completely lovable, and filled with all of my favorite things, humor, heat and heart. Worth every penny.

Audiobook Series Review – The Dirty Billionaire Series by Meghan March
“Do you want to know what I do to naughty girls?”
She nods.
“Anything I want.”
Though I didn’t love The Dirty Billionaire Series quite as much as Dirty Girl and Dirty Love, it came pretty close. Meghan writes amazing sex scenes, and her guys are the perfect mix of dirty talking, dominant romantics who will do what it takes to earn the love of a good woman. Though it’s a dominant billionaire trilogy like so many others, Meghan March really made the Dirty Billionaire trilogy into something unique and special, and I am so glad I didn’t let ‘billionaire’ and ‘trilogy’ keep me away. Meghan March has earned me as a fan for life, and I plan on catching up on all of her books.

Book Review – Tiger Shark by LP Lovell
“I will break you.” Maybe that statement should scare me, but it doesn’t.
I shove against him and he smirks. “Never.” I spit.
The fingers around my windpipe tighten in warning. He leans in until his lips are at my ear. “You will submit to me, kitten.”
Tiger Shark by LP Lovell was a great break from the young virgins who see a rock star and have electricity run up their arms when they accidentally touch. It was a book about two very strong, successful alphas making a forbidden, kinky relationship work in a cutthroat business world. It was a unique read that I read quickly and had trouble putting down. If you like a strong, smart alpha heroine, and an even more alpha hero battling for supremacy, check out Tiger Shark. I think you’ll enjoy the change of pace.

Audiobook Review – Dirty Sexy Saint by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde
“I don’t want to be a good girl anymore. I want to be very bad with you, Saint Clay.”
“I’m not a saint, Cupcake. Especially when it comes to fucking.”
“That’s good, because I don’t really want a saint…I want a sinner.”
If she wanted a sinner, well, sinning was what he did best.
There was so much to love about Dirty Sexy Saint. I loved the characters, the sex was hot, Clay was awesome. It had a great mix of heat, humor, heart and banter that I enjoyed. But the 3rd person dual POV made me feel detached from the story. It may not have been as bad if I read it vs. listening, but it just never fully grabbed me into the story. That, plus the narrator trying to sound like a man (badly) when Clay is speaking, and some of the sexual terms like “weeping flesh”, brought down what could have been an amazing read from authors that I really have enjoyed in the past. In this case, I would recommend reading over listening.

Book Review – The Final Chase by Jessica Florence
“I think we should explore this…I’m an animal, remember? I like the chase and I will catch my prey.” He walked us back so I was against the wall with his arms caging me in. Why was this so hot?”
The Final Chase was a sexy, funny, sweet, crazy book with an alpha male and female. The banter and push and pull between the characters was a ton of fun, and I love a forceful alpha male. The animals played a very big role in the story, and I found myself attached to them. Since there was so much crossover from the first book, The Final KO, I think I would have enjoyed The Final Chase even more had I read that first. All in all, this is a fun read with a kooky heroine and seriously sexy alpha who loves animals.

Audiobook Review – Forever My Girl by Heidi McLaughlin
“I thought for sure we’d spend forever together. I thought our love was one of a kind. I would almost be okay if he had met someone else and fallen in love, but he didn’t. He just left.”
Liam didn’t have a good enough reason for leaving the love of his life behind and pursuing his career in music. I still don’t get why he didn’t tell her the truth, and that tainted my feelings toward him a bit. I did like that the story took a while to evolve, and that Liam was a very patient man. The story is well written, but I had a really tough time with the female narrator. She didn’t even pause to breathe between present and past making it very tough to follow, plus she is sooo slow and sad sounding that the book left me in a sort of melancholy mood. I usually try to rate the story and narration separately, but since the narrator affected my mood so much, it is very hard to separate.

Audiobook Review – My Unexpected Forever by Heidi McLaughlin
“I know you’ve lost your husband. I know every day is a battle for you because you miss him. I’m not trying to take his place with you or the twins. I just want to fit into your life.”
I am so glad that I downloaded both Forever My Girl and My Unexpected Forever together. Had I not, I may not have listened to this one, as I really am not a fan of the female narrator. I love books with single dads, and I must say, Harrison’s and Quinn’s father-son relationship may be one of the favorites I have read. There is nothing I love more than when a man wins over the kids of his love, and seeing how all of the band families blended together was really special.

2. Sugar Daddies by Jade West
A sugar daddy website doesn’t seem a sound basis for an A1 life plan, but I’m a small town girl with big dreams, and there’s this one advert, this one crazy advert I can’t stop thinking about…
Two hot guys seeking their Little Miss Right.
Someone who can entertain them, amuse them, fit in with their corporate schedule.
And sex. They want sex.
Lots of sex.
Bonus, right? One major dose of epic win.
Of course, guys like Carl and Rick have their conditions. One being that they come together, or not at all.
Hell, I can live with that.
And there are no skeletons in their designer closet, none that I can find.
Just two hot sugar daddies, with particular tastes, nothing to worry about.
Until Carl and Rick spill the big one, the one that sends the girls running. A whole string of them before me, running to the hills without so much as a backward glance.
Maybe I should run, too. Thanks but no thanks, see you around, guys, nice knowing you.
But I’m already in way too deep for that.
Warning – as with every other Jade West book, reader discretion is highly advised. This novel contains vivid depictions of MMF / MM relationships, and Jade’s characters, as always, have very filthy mouths. Mature readers only, please.

3. HARD: MC Romance (Filthy F*ckers MC Romance Book 1) by Scott Hildreth
Peyton Price – Given an assignment to write an article on an outlaw motorcycle club, what award-winning journalist would say no? Not me. I had a weakness for bad-boys, tattoos, and men on motorcycles.
But Nick Navarro wasn’t a typical biker. He wasn’t even a typical outlaw.
Nick Navarro – As president of the Filthy F*ckers MC, when I was offered an opportunity to be interviewed by a local journalist, I didn’t accept for the notoriety or the publicity. I agreed to get a shot at the 27 year-old p*ssy between the journalist’s legs.
She had plans to get in and get out, and do so quick.
But once I lay claim to something, it’s mine.
Until I decide otherwise.
4. Better Off Without Him by Dee Ernst
Mona Berman has it all—a twenty-year marriage, a successful career as a romance novelist, and three teenage daughters. But when her husband, Brian, leaves her for someone younger, thinner, blonde, and French, she has to step back and take a good, long look at her life.
First, her career. She can’t continue to write about “Happily Ever After,” so she changes the heroine of her new book from a hot young thing to a forty-something woman who manages to find happiness without a man. Her agent isn’t too happy—the heroine is how old? She doesn’t get the guy in the end? How is that even possible?
But Mona is tough, and she’s got Anthony, her personal assistant, and a few good friends to cheer her on and keep the stiff martinis flowing. And Ben. Ben is her plumber, but not your average plumber. He’s smart enough to know that Brian was never good enough for her, and sexy enough to be cast as the romantic lead in quite a few of her books. The sound of his voice alone can send her imagination into full romantic overdrive.
Then she meets Mitch, who might be just the guy for her. And there’s still Ben, who’s managed to come to her rescue more than once. But—there’s a book to publish, a soon-to-be-ex-husband to deal with, and what has Aunt Lily done this time?
Can Mona work this all out? Can life imitate art, and can Mona write her own happy ending?

6. Bossman by Vi Keeland
THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
From New York Times Bestseller, Vi Keeland, comes a sexy new standalone novel.
The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn’t exactly make a good impression.
I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.
He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice.
So I told him to mind his own damn business―his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business―and went back to my miserable date.
When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.
I couldn’t help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.
When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.
But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us―telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood.
My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.
When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I’d never see him again.
I mean, what were the chances I’d run into him again in a city with eight million people? Then again…
What were the chances a month later he’d wind up being my new sexy boss?

Braden has never met a woman like Nikki, and he can’t get enough of her smart mouth and big heart. But life isn’t always as direct and certain as the connection between Braden and Nikki. When family objections and career trajectories begin to crowd the plate, will Braden be able to keep his catch of a lifetime?

Did you know that during a pyrotechnic display, a single firework travels 481 feet per second and can take out a small village? Did you know it can also singe the ball hair off of any man standing within a mile radius of said-pyrotechnic display (and singed ball hair smells a lot like a sh*t-filled baby diaper that’s been lit on fire), and it can make a vintage wedding dress go up in flames like a barn full of dry hay?

And everything in my perfect world broke apart.

I can’t.
I won’t.

Elder Prest, a thief with a heart as black as his soul, arrives as a guest in our twisted home. He has business with my owner, but his interest lies in me. He pretends not to notice my bruises and hides his knowledge of what I am, but the way he watches me makes me feel more human than possession.

I’ve survived two years of torment because I no longer believe in hope, but Elder is the only man who promises me pleasure instead of pain.

12. Panty Dropper (A Sexy Standalone Contemporary Romance) by Paige North
They call him The Panty Dropper.
They say he can make any woman drop her panties in two seconds flat.
He’s six-foot-two of hard-bodied muscle, filthy rich, with an even filthier mouth and a nastier imagination.
He dates models and actresses, leaving them washed up and burnt out, unwilling to talk to the press about what it’s like to date him.
I thought he would NEVER go for a girl like me.
But to my surprise, I’m wrong. And everything they say about him is true.
The dirty mouth.
The nasty imagination.
The fingers that can get you off in thirty seconds.
The disappearing acts.
The fear of commitment.
Secrets so deep you could drown.
But I’ve got a secret, too. I’m not really just another girl. I’ve been hired by a magazine to get the real scoop on what it’s like to date the Panty Dropper.
Of course, it’s hard to remember that when I’m screaming his name, when his face is buried between my thighs, when he’s kissing me so hard and deep my head is spinning and my knees are weak.
The whole messed-up situation is the stuff of a Hollywood movie.
And like most Hollywood movies, I figured the ending would be predictable.
But as it turned out, our story had a twist I never saw coming.

Love Child caters to wealthy bachelors who’ve been unsuccessful in creating a family through traditional means. Despite Love Child being an unconventional route to take, the conception takes place exactly the way nature intended.
Nearing forty and still single, Abel has accepted he won’t meet the right woman to marry and have a family with, so Love Child is his last hope for becoming a father. He’s gone through the files of the potential donors and handpicked one perfect candidate to create his baby with.
The moment he comes face to face with Adeline Matthews, Abel knows she’s the one. But not just the one he’s hoping to make a baby with. She’s the one he’s hoping to create a family with.
18. Mercy F*ck by K.S. Adkins
You’ve seen the title of this book and now you’re curious, I get it.
I totally do.
Mercy F*uck isn’t a title that inspires smiles and you’d be right.
Let me start by saying his name was Axle Rhodes and everything about him, including his love for Metallica, made you want to offer yourself up as a sacrifice.
And believe me, I did.
My heart and v-card were his for the conquering, and because he had a pulse, twenty-four-seven erection and empty bed, he took it.
It was love, it was fate, it was our happily ever after.
Right?
Wrong.
It was bullshit.
For Axle it wasn’t any of those things.
I know this to be true because while planning our wedding while still naked in said bed, I had the misfortune of hearing him utter the two words that described what he really thought of me.
Now don’t go feeling sorry for me, okay? I learned a valuable lesson about the opposite sex that day and am all the better for it.
To Axle, I was a Mercy F*uck this is true. But, every man I would meet after him would become mine.
My name is Drew, by the way, and nine years and a lot of practice later, I like to think of myself as the ‘Mercy F*uck Master’.
Trust me, it was title I earned and was seriously proud of too.
Well at least I was, until the Mercy F*ucker came back.
19. Crave Me: The Good Ol’ Boys by M. Robinson
From USA Today Bestselling Author M. Robinson
They say in order to find yourself you have to go home.
What if home was what you were running from?
Where did that leave you?
Always on the other side of the fence.
Always looking in.
Always wishing you were someone you couldn’t be.
Until one day you meet her.
The one.
She was my high, but she was also…
My demise.

20. Cream of the Crop (The Hudson Valley Series Book 2) by Alice Clayton
New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton brings her trademark blend of funny and sexy to this second contemporary romance in the brand-new Hudson Valley series!
Manhattan’s It Girl, Natalie Grayson, has it all: she’s a hot exec at a leading advertising firm, known industry-wide for her challenging and edgy campaigns. She’s got a large circle of friends, a family that loves her dearly, and her dance card is always full with handsome eligible bachelors. What else could a modern gal-about-town wish for? The answer, of course, is…cheese.
Natalie’s favorite part of each week is spending Saturday morning at the Union Square Farmer’s Market, where she indulges her love of all things triple cream. Her favorite booth also indulges her love of all things handsome. Oscar Mendoza, owner of the Bailey Falls Creamery and purveyor of the finest artisanal cheeses the Hudson Valley has to offer, is tall, dark, mysterious, and a bit oblivious. Or so she thinks. But that doesn’t stop Natalie from fantasizing about the size of his, ahem, milk can.
Romance is churning, passion is burning, and something incredible is rising to the top. Could it be…love?
