So many great books came out in February! I read a lot more than this, but haven’t gotten around to review them all. With such a short month, plus me traveling to the Fifty Shades premiere, I only got to review 12 books and audiobooks. But I loved almost all of them!
Audiobook Review – Paper Princess by Erin Watt
Narrated by Angela Goethals
“I feel the need to warn you that, we Royals are pretty fucked up. We’re good in bed, but out of it? We’re like a stage four hurricane.”
If you like YA/NA books (they are in high school, but there is sex and New Adult themes) filled with tons of angst and drama, you will probably love The Paper Princess. Everyone was just too sad, broken, mean and dramatic for me. I felt like it took every New Adult theme and added them together for one big story. The story was a touch addictive, but I found myself rolling my eyes a bit too. Perhaps late forties isn’t the demographic for this, but there are plenty of other books with characters this age that I absolutely love.
I should tell you, most of my fellow bloggers LOVED Paper Princess, so I am definitely in the minority here. If it stood alone, I would rate it higher probably, but I am sure not willing to invest in 2 more audiobooks to complete a trilogy that I wasn’t in love with from the start. PS: This is NOT about royalty, Royal is their last name.

Audiobook Duet Review – Real Good Man and Real Good Love by Meghan March
Narrated by Elena Wolfe and Sebastian York
“…you’re so fucking far out of my league, I should be back in my truck heading for the highway.”
My mouth drops open. “I’m out of your league? Have you not seen yourself? Do they not have mirrors in Kentucky?”
Real Good Man and Real Good Love are great examples of the reason I love reading. Narrated by my two favorite narrators, it made it even better. Banner is one of my favorite female characters ever because she is tough, never sneaky (in a bad way), and never played games. There was a ton of banter and humor, and even more dirty talking and dirty doing! Logan was a real man who fixes things and ran his business and I thought it was hot as hell. Something held me back from loving it as much as Dirty Girl and Dirty Love, but all in all, I loved this duet. I’m thinking Boone may be the next series? I hope so, but I hope it’s just one book, not split in two, the one major complaint I had about this.

Book Review – Things My Husband Says by Barbara Blue
Him: You know, semen has the same medicinal qualities as Pamprin and Midol. It’s on their label as a key ingredient. Google it. I mean gargle it. Now look what you did. You woke up the beast.
This was a cute and funny visit into a real-life long-term marriage. It’s raunchy and gross at times (jellyfish? lol!) but that just makes it funnier. I think a lot of it shows why this marriage works so well, they have a ton of sex and a lot of laughs—the top two things you need for longevity in my eyes. Sometimes if the little story didn’t make me laugh, the emoji at the end would. It did get a little repetitive, and I wouldn’t have minded some longer scenes to break up the quick read, but all in all, a great little fast, funny read. I could see it being a coffee table book for adults that people can just thumb through and read a quick scene. I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I didn’t read it all at once and took my time, reading a few scenes between books or when I pee ? but I just couldn’t stop!

Book Review – Long Drive by Jessica Florence
“Say my name one more time, and I’ll crush your perfect fucking body against the wall behind us, and dry fuck you until everyone on the strip knows my name.”
“God won’t want any part of the things I would do to you Livia.”
The Long Drive by Jessica Florence was a unique read because I have never read a book that took place in a truck with a trucker! It’s was nice to read a slow-burn book where no outside influences wreak havoc with the relationship. I enjoyed watching both characters grow and how their relationship naturally blossomed. I enjoyed both characters a lot, the sex was hot, and it was a quick and easy read. Was it an epic read? No. But I enjoyed it thoroughly and it hit the spot for a unique, quick, fun and sexy read with very little angst.

Audiobook Review – Egomaniac by Vi Keeland
“I think your body likes me, and your head is fighting it. The two should fight it out like adults–naked in the bedroom with me.”
I honestly enjoyed every second of Egomaniac and listened to the whole thing with a goofy smile on my face. It had everything I love in a book and a unique way the couple was thrown together, but beyond that a lot of details were formulaic, and a few things over the top coincidental. But that’s honestly OK because it was truly a book I enjoyed every second of. I will remember the way they met, even though the details of the book are not particularly memorable. All in all, I wholeheartedly recommend Egomaniac by Vi Keeland for a sexy, fun, light and easy book that will keep you smiling the whole time.

Book Review – Finding Mr. Wrong by A.M. Madden and Joanne Schwehm
His perfect date: His favorite restaurant then back to his place to fuck.
“So, no flowers?”
“I don’t need to bring gifts, you’d have me. But if you’d like something, I could bring a blindfold and cuffs.”
“That sounds like it would be fun for you.”
“Trust me, you’d enjoy it.What the last girl would say about him: “That I have a big cock.”
Last gift given to a woman: “The best orgasm of her life.”
Favorite instrument: “Clitoris.”
I absolutely LOVED this unique, fun and sexy read from AM Madden and Joanne Schwehm. I am having trouble with the rating because it has all the qualities of a 5 star read to me, but I’m not sure it was epic enough to garner the rare rating that guarantees a book gets on my best of the year list. I mean I loved every second of reading it, but it is a fun, light, sexy read more than a huge stand out with major emotional impact. While it didn’t give me a book hangover, it is a book I will absolutely listen to again if it comes out on audio. I loved how the couple was put in the unusual situation that has no outside interruptions, forcing them to really know each other. The writing was compelling, and there was never a slow moment. The sex was hot and frequent but never sacrificed story. I am truly hoping that each of the friends get a book, because I would totally like to read more from this author duo!

Book Review – Dirty Dealers by Tia Louise
“Fate just threw me a lifeline, and there’s no way in hell I’ll lose it this time.”
“I’ll have you in my bed, and no matter what it takes, I won’t lose you again.”
Dirty Dealers is the third book in the Dirty Players series. It’s marketed as a standalone, and while the romance does stand alone, so many previous characters and situations come into play that I think it would be way better if you read the fist two in the series first. As it was, I was a little lost in the beginning, and it took me a bit to get into. But once I did, yowza, I couldn’t put it down! There was so much action, drama, intrigue and suspense, I stayed up all night reading. Between the secrets and lies, the love and the sex, double crossing and criminals, Dirty Players is a series that never stops! If you like romantic suspense that isn’t really dark (but it is gritty), I highly recommend this series.

Book Review – Mack Daddy by Penelope Ward
“We all have that one person. It’s not necessarily someone we end up with. But it’s that person who, for whatever reason, gets under your skin and stays there. You can move on, but parts of them are always with you. Sometimes, if things never had a chance to develop, if feelings are still unresolved, that person becomes an even more powerful force in your life, even in absentia.”
I enjoyed every second of Mack Daddy. It was well written, well paced for the most part (I would have liked more together time in the end), and had a great mixture of emotion, humor, sexiness and angst. OK, maybe a bit too much angst, as there were a few things put in that were almost random to the story just to give more angst. I loved the parts with his son, Jonah, and would have liked a little more of that. The combination of his and her POV as well as flashbacks to the past were done beautifully and I never had any issues with the transitions. While there is a bit of a love triangle, I think it was handled well, and I didn’t really have a problem with it as it wasn’t really sneaky on anyone’s part. If you’re looking for a fast paced, angsty, single-dad, sexy second chance romance, I totally recommend Mack Daddy and I look forward to reading more from Penelope Ward.

Book Review – Sex Says by Max Monroe
“Reed Luca–the fucker–had officially gotten inside of my head. He’d mindfucked me, and it wasn’t good ole missionary. This was dirty, ass play, doggy-style kind of mindfucking.”
I have only read the very first Max Monroe book (twice, once regular and once on audio) and I absolutely loved it, they just wrote them so fast I never had time to keep up and read them all, so I am so glad they finally wrote a new standalone I was able to grab. I absolutely LOVE their “little world of weird and eccentric” in Sex Says; it’s quirky, silly, sexy, fun and oh-so-smart. Part of me wishes there was a way to make a series from it, but this couple is one-of-a-kind and they should totally stand alone. If you are looking to laugh your ass off at two intelligent, immature adults who like to experience all that life offers, Sex Says is a great story for you. I was a bit wary in the beginning, but Sex Says stood out enough to me that I know it will end up on my Best of 2017 list.

Audiobook Review -The Hot One by Lauren Blakely
Narrated by Andi Arndt & Zachary Webber
“He taps his chest with both hands. “Let me introduce you to me. I’m the guy who wants you back. Badly.”
This series of loosely connected standalone is one of my favorite “series” ever. Lauren Blakey’s male POV characters are smart, funny and respect women, all while being the best dirty talkers ever. The Hot One is no different. It’s not my favorite of the series, I didn’t quite connect and get sucked in as much as usual, but I still loved every second of The Hot One. Lauren Blakely has the magic formula of combining lovable characters, romance, laughs, banter and sexy times into a smart and easy unputdownable romance. I can’t wait for the next.

Audiobook Review – Sommersgate House by Kristen Ashley
Narrated by Abby Craden
“When he was going to have his fill of her, he didn’t know and he was beginning to doubt he ever would. Every time he had her, he wanted more, needed more, she was like a fucking drug.”
Sommersgate House by Kristen Ashley is certainly a unique read. I love a book with kids, and the narrators portrayals of the kids was great, especially 4 year old Ruby. The entire story is a bit sad. I mean we have three orphans, Douglas and Julia just lost their siblings, the only people they were close to, they both had sad pasts, and the ghosts themselves were sad. Although this is a romance, and everything is happy in the end, it still had a formal, sad feel through much of the story. That being said, I still really and truly enjoyed it, I listened every chance I got, and plan on listening to the next two (because the last two aren’t on audible yet) in the next month or two.

1. The Sexy One: (A One Love Novel) by Lauren Blakely
A hot and sweet forbidden romance from #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Lauren Blakely…
Let me count the ways why falling into forbidden love is not my wisest move…
1. She works with me every single day.
Did I mention she’s gorgeous, sweet, kind and smart?
2. She works in my home.
Playing with my five-year-old daughter. Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means…
3. She’s the nanny.
And that makes her completely off-limits…But it doesn’t stop me from wanting her. All of her.
*****
The other nannies in this city don’t call him The Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention, the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around.
I can’t risk my job for a chance at something more…can I? But I don’t know how to resist him much longer either…
With all the heat, heart and humor readers have come to expect, this newest Lauren Blakely standalone will make you laugh, swoon and feel like you’re falling in love!

2. Being Brooke (Barley Cross Book 1) by Emma Hart
From New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart, comes a brand new standalone novel. BEING BROOKE is a laugh-out-loud, witty, and sometimes highly inappropriate romantic comedy about being in love with your best friend. And how much that freaking sucks.
My name is Brooke Barker…
And I’m a freaking disaster.
No, seriously. I’m a college drop-out working a dead-end job, my best friend Carly’s dog gets more action than I do, and I have more bad dates in my diary than there are movie remakes.
Not to mention I’m completely and utterly in love with Cain Elliott.
The problem? He’s in a relationship. With a girl who’s so plastic she makes Barbie cry herself to sleep with jealousy.
The second problem? He’s my best friend.
My shut-up-and-put-on-Harry-Potter, yes-this-is-your-shirt, help-I-have-no-power, crap-I’m-out-of-tampons, kinda best friend.
And that’s all he can be, right?
Right.

3. Mack Daddy by Penelope Ward
Single Dad. Second Chances. Meet Mack in the newest STANDALONE novel from New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward.
They called him Mack Daddy. No, seriously, his name was Mack. Short for Mackenzie. Thus, the nickname. Perfect, right?
So was he: perfect. The perfect physical male specimen.
At the private school where I taught, Mack Morrison was the only man around in a sea of women.
Everyone wanted a piece of the hot, single father of the sweet little boy.
I became a woman I didn’t recognize, someone riddled with jealousy, because they didn’t know that–to me–he was much more.
They didn’t know about our past.
He’d chosen my school for his son on purpose, because Mack and I, we had unfinished business.
As my friend, Lorelai, so eloquently put it: “Unfinished business between two people who are clearly attracted to each other is like an eternal case of blue balls.” And I was suffering in pain from my case.
I was still intensely attracted to Mack. I tried to resist him, immersing myself further into a relationship with someone else just to protect my heart.
Not to mention, getting involved with a parent was strictly against school rules. But seeing Mack day in and day out was breaking me down.
And soon I might be breaking all the rules.
Author’s note – Told in alternating points of view, Mack Daddy is a full-length standalone novel.

4. Single Dad Next Door: A Fake Marriage Romance by Penelope Bloom
My grandfather left me his business with one insane condition:
I need a wife and two kids. Too bad I’m a divorced single dad.
Cue my ex-wife’s best friend moving in next door.
And then mix in a few bad decisions.
What do you get? A complicated, sexy mess.
SANDRA
The list of reasons I should stay away from my neighbor is about as long as his… wrench. He’s a dirty mechanic, he’s a single dad, and he can’t seem to keep his shirt on for more than five minutes.
Did I mention his ex wife is my best friend? Yeah. Reid Riggins is absolutely, one hundred percent, the last person in the world I should get involved with. Even if he is heart-stoppingly gorgeous with strong, powerful hands that could rip my clothes off with ease.
Not that I’ve imagined that, of course.
The point is I don’t want anything to do with him. He can stay in his stupid garage with his stupidly cute son and hit things with wrenches all day. He can keep on wearing those blue jeans that fit him just right for all I care.
Except I may have told a white lie to my eccentric, rich parents. I may have told them I’m engaged to a wealthy businessman, and now they want to meet my fake fiance. Unfortunately, Reid might be the only guy who’s willing to play along.
No problem. It’s just for a few days. Just to get them off my back. What could go wrong?
**This is a full-length, standalone fake marriage romance. No cheating or cliffhangers, and as always, Happily Ever After guaranteed.

Then his heart, beating in another man’s chest, found its way back to me, and I found myself faced with an impossible choice: hold on to the pain and beauty of the past and the memory of the man I loved, or reach for a bold new future, knowing each heartbeat will be a reminder of all I’ve lost.

11. Finding Mr. Wrong by A.M. Madden & Joanne Schwehm
Here’s a tip: never trust a jackass in preppy clothing.
The phrase “trust me” should have been my first clue to hightail it out the door, but hindsight is always 20/20.
So there I was, on a stage with two other men, being asked ridiculous questions by a woman I couldn’t see, but whose voice made my pants tighten―and not around my ankles.
Before I knew what was happening, I’d signed up for six weeks in paradise, isolated on an island for forty-two days with a complete stranger. And when I finally laid eyes on the sexy brunette who belonged to that voice, a part of me thought this wouldn’t be so bad.
I’ve always been a levelheaded guy. I am a successful, smart, and shrewd business man. But that was when I was listening to the head above my shoulders. Once the blood traveled south, I always ran into trouble.
She called me Mr. Wrong, and that was fine with me.
Lesson learned: lust always trumps logic.

14. Paying Daddy’s Debt by Alexa Riley
When Ash Carpenter imagines a schoolgirl, the image doesn’t match her. She wears long skirts that are sort of frumpy. Her bulky sweaters hide her shape, and her hair is always in a messy bun. Her tennis shoes are clunky and worn, and there are runs in her thick tights. Her dark-framed glasses hide some of her face…but not all of it. Because he’s caught sight of those ice-blue eyes, and they’ve pierced him to his core.
She walks by his office every day, and finally he’s had enough. Ash decides he’s tired of waiting and it’s time to collect what he’s owed. She’ll come with him, because there’s no other choice. She’ll pay her daddy’s debt any way Ash sees fit.
Warning: Oh, honey, this is about to get filthy. If your delicate sensibilities can’t handle the dirty, then step aside for those of us who can. It’s quick, but it’s just the right length, if you know what I mean. *slow wink, elbow nudge, goofy snort*

Vaughn West, Hollywood heartthrob, has been at the top of his game for years. He thinks he’s untouchable—until a betrayal brings him spiraling down. Now, everyone pities him, and if there’s one thing Vaughn hates, it’s pity.
After a few months of working his way through every available actress, pop star, model, and waitress in California, Vaughn needs to get his life back on track and focus on what he does best—making hit movies.
Charlotte Michaels is in love. Just not with one person.
Louis Vuitton…
Christian Dior…
Valentino…
Gucci…
And the list goes on.
Sadly, Charly’s limited bank account doesn’t allow her those luxuries, and the closest she gets are lucky finds in charity shops and working closely with some of those names in her job as a wardrobe assistant.
Now, Charly has landed the mother of all jobs—working on the new Vaughn West movie. Excited doesn’t even cut it.
Only things don’t go as planned, and it turns out that Vaughn is actually a jerk. A hot jerk, but a jerk nonetheless.
So, why do their clothes keep falling off whenever they’re around each other? And why can’t Charly keep her mind in the closet and off Vaughn?
Getting mixed up with a smart-mouthed, fashion-obsessed wardrobe assistant is the last thing Vaughn needs.
Getting mixed up with an arrogant, self-centered, obnoxious, jumped-up actor who has a lack of respect for fashion is the last thing Charly needs.
Things are about to get hot, dirty, and messy in Hollywood. Very messy. Especially if Charly’s closely guarded secret falls out of her closet.
LOVED!!! My review will be up soon.

18. Like a Memory by Abbi Glines
One memory.
One special summer.
The one thing Bliss had lost herself in when the fear and sickness were too much, moments never to be damaged by the harsh reality that followed… until now.
Bliss York didn’t live a normal teenage life. She didn’t go to Friday night football games, walk the halls with her friends every day, go to her prom or even walk to receive her diploma. It had all been taken from her the fall that she was fifteen years old and she was given the diagnosis no one ever wants to hear.
She had leukemia.
Seven years after spending a summer with a girl who he knew would always be his first love and the one who got away, Nate Finlay returns to Sea Breeze to help his fiancé open her new boutique clothing store. When the new employee walks in Nate is taken back seven years to the girl he thought he’d love forever. The one who never answered his calls or returned his text. The one who shut him out completely with not even a goodbye and broke his heart.
They’ve each become someone different. No longer the young teens with stars in their eyes. But does that matter when your heart still says that’s the one.

19. Lumber Jacked by Chance Carter
This Lumberjack’s Wood is Long, Hard, and way too Hot to Handle!
Grady Cole is as rugged as he is sexy. He lives in a remote cabin in the woods with his baby daughter. The last thing he expects is a beautiful, innocent girl, lost and alone, to fall into his life.
But that’s exactly what happens.
Out hunting, he finds a girl unconscious in the snow.
Autumn Lane is nineteen and out on her own for the first time. She’s homesick, vulnerable, and completely alone. When Grady brings her back to his cabin she feels things she never knew she could. She’s attracted to the strong man who has offered her warmth and safety. She wants to feel the touch of his coarse hands on her smooth skin. She wants him to be her first.
Grady craves Autumn like the mountain wolves crave their prey. He knows it’s wrong. She’s nineteen and he’s thirty. She came to him for protection. She trusts him. But he can’t help it. He’s been cold and lonely too long and needs her to keep him warm at night. He wants to devour her, to possess her, to make her cry out his name and beg him to keep going.
Is she the one who can heal his wounds, bring his heart back to life, and give his baby the love and care she so desperately needs?
Lumber Jacked is a hot and steamy romance about a man who craves a woman’s soft touch, and a woman who yearns for the strength and grit of the man on the mountain. It is intended for adults and contains a very satisfying, happy ending!
