You: A NovelĀ by Caroline Kepnes
ā[A] beautifully crafted thriller that will give you chills.ā (People magazine)
From debut author Caroline Kepnes comes You, one of Suspense Magazineās Best Books of 2014, and a brilliant and terrifying novel for the social media age.
When a beautiful, aspiring writer strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe Goldberg works, he does what anyone would do: he Googles the name on her credit card.
There is only one Guinevere Beck in New York City. She has a public Facebook account and Tweets incessantly, telling Joe everything he needs to know: she is simply Beck to her friends, she went to Brown University, she lives on Bank Street, and sheāll be at a bar in Brooklyn tonightāthe perfect place for a āchanceā meeting.
As Joe invisibly and obsessively takes control of Beckās life, he orchestrates a series of events to ensure Beck finds herself in his waiting arms. Moving from stalker to boyfriend, Joe transforms himself into Beckās perfect man, all while quietly removing the obstacles that stand in their wayāeven if it means murder.
A terrifying exploration of how vulnerable we all are to stalking and manipulation, debut author Caroline Kepnes delivers a razor-sharp novel for our hyper-connected digital age. You is a compulsively readable page-turner thatās being compared to Gone Girl, American Psycho, and Stephen Kingās Misery.
Bury MeĀ by Tara Sivec
I hear screams in my head.
I see blood on my hands.
When I look in the mirror I see a stranger.
How is it that I can remember bits and pieces of my life, but nothing of any importance and nothing that makes any sense? Everything is twisted and nothing is right. Iām choking with every breath I take, suffocating on the unknown.
Two days ago, everything changed. Two days ago, the people I should trust the most became strangers in my convoluted head. The dreams I have canāt be real. The fleeting memories that whisper through my mind are scary and wrongā¦they have to be. If they arenāt, I have something much worse to fear than my fractured mind. I need to find out the truth, even if it destroys me.
I’ve been told my name is Ravenna Duskin. Iām eighteen years old and I live in a prisonā¦
The Air He BreathesĀ by Brittany Cherry
I was warned about Tristan Cole.
āStay away from him,ā people said.
āHeās cruel.ā
āHeās cold.ā
āHeās damaged.ā
Itās easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster.
But I couldnāt do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him because it also lived inside of me.
We were both empty.
We were both looking for something else. Something more.
We both wanted to put together the shattered pieces of our yesterdays.
Then perhaps we could finally remember how to breathe.
Letters Written in WhiteĀ by Kathryn Perez
I’m dead.
I’m cold and alone and I’m dead. There’s no air in my lungs. My chest is as cold and hollow as a cave on a snow-capped mountainside. My heart no longer beats there. Frigid winds whistle through my ribs and the sadness inside me weeps like my favorite tree.
Days ago, I met with death face to face. The mirror, our meeting place. My two darkened green eyes stared deeply into hers. I tilted my head to the side. She did too.
“It’s time,” I whispered.
“It’s time,” she whispered.
And with that I turned away from her, the woman in the mirror who knew all of my secrets and all of my pain. I walked away from her and yet we’d never been closer than we were at that moment. The inner struggle was over. No more arguing with the woman in the mirror. No more arguing with myself. The choice was made. She was the victor. Or was I?
That was the day Riah Winter died.
