**** RE-READ UPDATE!!! I loved it even more the second time!!!! I raised it to a 5 Star rating!!!*****
I would have to rate Knight by Kristen Ashley a 4.5* for story and a 4 for Heat. There was a lot I LOVED about this book. I must say though, there was a good amount I didn’t, but I still highly recommend it. My overall thought in reading this is that was rushed out to ride the Fifty Shades of Grey wave.
Nothing wrong with that.
If there weren’t so many errors.
But I still loved it.
Knight.
Oh God.
Oh God!
I have read about 7 of Kristen Ashley’s books before this, and I LOVE her books. They are always long and meaty. Have tough, hot, protective alpha males, and have great epilogues. In these ways this book did not disappoint. All of her books I have read were pretty hot, but this one tipped the scales into a bit more of erotica. That’s FINE with me!!!!
Except the “Daddy” thing.
Though Anya and Knight almost pull it off, it still squeeks me out.
Anya and Knight’s relationship is a controlling but loving relationship. He makes sure to let her know, OFTEN, how he feels about her:
“Wars fought over a face like this,” he murmured like he was talking to himself, my heart stopped beating and his thumbs moved lightly across my cheeks. “A man would work himself into the ground for it, go down to his knees to beg to keep it, endure torture to protect it, take a bullet for it,” his eyes came to mine, “poison his brother to possess a face like this.”
“Jesus, I’m gonna possess that beauty.”
“Honey, the candles are gonna burn out,” I prompted on a grin.
“Let ’em,” he replied. “Got nothin’ I want. Everything I want is standing right in front of me.”
Knight is ridiculously jealous and possessive. He doesn’t want her dancing in his club because he doesn’t want to see other guys watching her. Well for those who don’t like that, I get it, but he explains himself straight out, and lets her know that’s what he needs. In my eyes, he does so much shit for her, she should “hold on” like her friend tells her…(I would!)
Knight is a talker in bed. He tells her where to go and what to do. This is not hard-core BDSM at all. There is control in the bedroom and some light bondage and punishment. The sex scenes were mild graphicly, but still very HOT (until the Daddy word….that kind of cooled me down a little). This book is NOT erotica though. The first sex scene doesn’t even happen until 48% into the book.
Knight is considered an “anti-hero”. Whatever. He may not be 100% legal, but he treats his woman like GOLD. And he lets her know how he feels constantly.
If you have not read a Kristen Ashley book before, her dialogue is very ‘motorcycle tough’. The F word is used throughout, they use words like ‘jack up’ for misbehave and lots of ‘yeah”. In all of her books so far, all the heroines and heroes seem well versed in this street lingo, though I’ve never heard a lot of the expressions. While I keep reading that this is a departure from Kristen’s normal books, I don’t really see it. Yes, it has more detailed sex scenes, and the hero is not necessarily a good guy in the eyes of the law, and it is a bit shorter without a big dramatic scene, but it still has that KA feel I LOVE.
I also enjoyed Anya’s internal dialogue. Every time Knight said something that made Anya’s heart melt (or something else), we get her:
Okay, alright.
Okay.
Oh God.
Oh GOD!
While it was sometimes repetitive, I know that’s exactly what would be going through my mind as well.
To sum it up:
I loved Knight (the guy and the book). But the ‘Daddy” thing and the numerous errors (spelling, word choice and wrong pronoun use {I instead of he}) made it feel like this was really rushed. That being said…..Rush another one Kristen!!!! I can’t wait for the next.
If this is your first Kristen Ashley book, and you didn’t love it, try any of her others. Many of her biggest fans didn’t love this one, though I did.

I felt the same way about the “Daddy” thing…….kind of creeped me out and made this not my favorite. Still couldn’t put it down though. 🙂
