If you have read through a lot of this blog, you know my love for Kristen Ashley’s books. Luckily she is a very prolific indie writer. She has a ton of books out, and she keeps cranking out better and better books. Lucky us, she publishes them as soon as they’re done!
Here is the basic premise of the books I have read: The guys start as “alpha-holes” total domineering, cursing badasses who have had a rough history with women. The women are amazing, cool, girls you want to hang with who also have a crappy history. Many characters I have read about are mid-upper 30s, many have kids, and these are second chance at love type books.
Then the big, strong, domineering, tough, handy, hot, sexy, protective guys get sweet. They Ā ALL realize what they have when they have it. They notice all the little things that we wish our guys would notice……like how their “woman” takes her coffee. (I’ve been married over 20 years and my husband wouldn’t even know how to make my coffee let alone how I take it, even though he is great in other ways.) They tend to ‘force’ the women into a relationship that they clearly want but are too scared to take, with their domineering attitude. They latch on, and don’t let go until they possess every piece of said woman. In short…..they are swoony!!
Kristen Ashley’s books have tons of love, hot sex, wonderful families & friends, suspense, action, tears and more. They are all super long and juicy, end well and have an amazing epilogue. But BEWARE: they are highly addictive. When I read a Kristen Ashley books everything else takes a back seat, including my kids and sleeping.
Every book of hers I read becomes my new favorite. So much so that I was never able to recommend a “first” book to start with. I started with Sweet Dreams, which happened to be book 2 in the Colorado Mountain series. Then continued that series, and moved on to The ‘Burg Series and the Dream Man Series. But I never went back to read that first book in the Colorado Mountain series, The Gamble.
When I did, I wished I read it sooner. But her first series, Rock Chic, the one that started it all, is the one I read most recently, and now I know. That’s where you start, no question about it. The characters from The Rock Chick Series cross over into all of the other stories in some way, and they are awesome.
