First off, props to the guy on the cover! Holy hell, what a bod! Very important: to get the best experience with this book, read the first: Masters at Arms. Nobody’s Angel by Kallypso Masters builds on the story started in the first book about Marc and Angelina, but also brings in a new character, Luke. In the last book, Angelina went to the Masters at Arms fetish club with her boyfriend. She loves to read BDSM books and wanted to try it out. (I love that! I know how she feels). Her boyfriend was really just looking for an excuse to beat her and ignored her safe word. Marc was the Dungeon Monitor her comforted her after, but since it was a costume night, she never saw his face.
This book begins a month later. Angelina is totally freaked about anything to do with BDSM, and thinks she imagined the perfect Dom that took care of her after. She lives a few hours away from the club in Aspen. She goes to her friend’s bar for her first night out since her ex abused her. When she sees the ex come in as well, she takes cover with two big, hot, sexy guys in town for a search and rescue (SAR) mission. One of the guys is Marc. He remembers her, and had tried to find her, but doesn’t want to scare her off by letting her know he is a Dom. Both Marc and Luke vie for Angelina’s attention, and after her ex threatens her, they take her home and stay with her. They both spend the evening pleasuring her (OMG, can I be her???). It’s hard not to give away too much of the story here, but this wasn’t really a menage book. There was one hot scene, but no intercourse.
Marc wants to help Angelina get over her new fear of BDSM because he knows she is submissive. Although his brain keeps saying “mine”, he feels Luke will be better for her, even though he isn’t a true Dom. So as he goes about proving to Angelina that she is, in fact, submissive, he holds back for his friend.
I give this book a 5 stars all around. 5 for story, 5 for heat. I actually was the least interested in Marc’s story from the first book, Adam and Damian intrigued me more. But it turned out that I loved Marc. There was a lot about Adam in this story as well, and I can’t wait to read the next one Nobody’s Hero which I will download right now, knocking down everything else in my TBR pile.
Things I liked:
-Hot, alpha men
-More stories about the rest of the guys
-Great Dom/sub training scenes
-Totally HOT
-Made me jump my husband (or actually beg him to jump me)
-Got emotional and made me cry a bit, but not too much
-Had some good suspense
-Kallypso Masters really gives some amazing information on a true Dom/sub power exchange, and how important it is to totally trust your Dom to truly submit.
Things I didn’t love:
-Dishonesty. Ugh, this made me crazy! They talk about how important honesty is, but everyone is lying to Angelina!
-There were a number of misspellings, wrong word usage, and run-on sentences.
-There was just a little too much internal dialogue and fighting their own true feelings.
Rating: 5 Stars, 5 Hot & Hornies
These items were not enough, to me, to detract from the 5 star rating. The ending made it impossible not to go download Nobody’s Hero immediately.
