Colleen Hoover wrote the first NA book I have ever read, Slammed, and it still remains one of my favorite ever after almost 3 years. It actually forced me to change something in my life and started some new traditions. Since then, I am blown away by every one of Colleen’s books. She is absolute genius. Her books range from YA/NA which I usually don’t like to read, (but hers were too amazing to even think like that) to NA/Adult.
I don’t throw around the word genius easily. But I do when referring to Colleen’s books. Seriously they magic, every one of them, and if you have not read her, here is a guide to all CoHo books.
Falling in love can feel like poetry. Or it can feel like a slam to the heart.
Colleen Hoover’s romantic, emotion-packed debut novel unforgettably captures all the magic and confusion of first love, as two young people forge an unlikely bond before discovering that fate has other plans for them.
Following the unexpected death of her father, eighteen-year-old Layken becomes the rock for both her mother and younger brother. She appears resilient and tenacious, but inside, she’s losing hope. Then she meets her new neighbor Will, a handsome twenty-one-year-old whose mere presence leaves her flustered and whose passion for poetry slams thrills her.
Not long after a heart-stopping first date during which each recognizes something profound and familiar in the other, they are slammed to the core when a shocking discovery brings their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together and the forces that tear them apart. Only through the poetry they share are they able to speak the truth that is in their hearts and imagine a future where love is cause for celebration, not regret.
“I got schooled this year
A boy that I’m seriously, deeply, madly, incredibly, and undeniably in love with.
And he taught me the most important thing ofall…
To put the emphasis
On life .”
This review was one of my very first almost 3 years ago, and it’s embarrassing, but you can check it out here.
Sometimes two people have to fall apart to realize just how much they belong together.
Colleen Hoover entranced readers everywhere with her bestselling novel Slammed, the book that introduced Layken and Will, a young couple whose love overcame devastating hardships to emerge stronger and more resilient than before. Now, as Layken and Will’s emotion-packed story continues, a stunning and unforeseen revelation about Will’s past leaves them questioning everything that they thought they knew about each other. With the foundation of their relationship at risk, they must decide whether they are willing to fight for a future together, or to retreat back into solitude and heartache.
How far does Will have to go to prove to Layken his love for her will last forever? It will require something truly extraordinary to keep this couple together, and the decisions they make and the answers they find will change not only their lives, but the lives of everyone around them.
“My heart pounds against my chest. Not because I’m nervous. Not even because I want her worse that I’ve ever wanted her before. It’s pounding against my chest because I realize I’ve never been so sure about the rest of my life than I am in this moment. This girl is the rest of my life.”

There are two sides to every love story. Now hear Will’s.
Colleen Hoover’s New York Times bestselling Slammed series has brought countless readers to their knees with a whirlwind of love, passion, and heartache. Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.
In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from his point of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.
“I can’t remember feeling this way since…well, ever. It’s new. It’s scary. It’s exciting. It’s nerve-wracking. It’s calming. It’s every single emotion I’ve ever felt balled up into an intense urge to grab hold of her and never let go.”

“I’m convinced that people come across others in life whose souls are completely compatible with their own. Some refer to them as soul mates. Some refer to it as true love. Some people believe their souls are compatible with more than one person, and I’m beginning to understand how true that might be.”
Purchase Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover
Colleen Hoover, the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe Someday, brilliantly brings to life the story of the wonderfully hilarious and charismatic Warren in a new novella, Maybe Not.
When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change.
Or maybe not.
Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory.
Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love?
“She’s so confusing. She’s so frustrating. She’s so damn unpredictable. She’s nothing I’ve ever wanted in a girl. And absolutely everything I need.”

Who is your favorite character you have written?
I had so much fun writing Daniel from Losing Hope and Finding Cinderella. I was able to put a lot of my sense of humor into his character and it was so much fun. Especially when it came to all his nicknames he has for everyone.
Your favorite book (written by you):
This is like asking which child is my favorite. It changes every day. Depending on my mood, I might hate them all one day (my books, not my children) or I might love them for how they’ve changed my life. But I can honestly say I’ll never be 100% happy with a book I write. If I could edit it until eternity, I would.
A sex word you hate to read and would never write:
Oh, I have many. Moist, throbbing, length, quiver.
What kind of music do you love/loathe. Who is your favorite band? What song are you embarrassed to admit you sing to every time?
I don’t like most country. I hate techno. And as much crap as I like to give Nickelback, I actually don’t loathe them like people think I do. And embarrassingly enough, I know every word to ROCKSTAR. But my all time favorite band will always be The Avett Brothers. The Airborne Toxic Event (Tate from Ugly Love was named after their acronym) is my second fave.
Your favorite non-book related activity:
I’m addicted to The Real Housewives. All of them.
Colleen Hoover’s love for writing began in 1985 when she was five years old. Her first story was titled “Mystery Bob” and was a huge hit with her mother, who was really good at faking interest.
Colleen continued to write short stories for friends and family until December of 2011, when she decided to write a long story she titled, “Slammed.” She self-published SLAMMED to Amazon in January, 2012 and it hit the NYT’s bestsellers list in May, 2012. She has since signed with Atria Books, a division of Simon & Schuster, and now has six NYT’s bestsellers. Colleen prefers to be called a writer, as the term “author” still terrifies her and makes this feel like a job with expectations. She doesn’t work well under pressure and hopes writing will always remain fun and exciting.
