Hidden Seams by Alessandra Torre

Contemporary Romance, Erotic Romance, Standalone
I honestly didn’t even read the blurb when I grabbed this audiobook of Hidden Seams by Alessandra Torre. I was looking for something different than the light and fluffy I was reading and Alessandra usually does that for me. Hidden Seams was still a little lighter and funnier than many of her books, but it had one thing I can always count on from this author. A completely unique storyline.
Avery McKenna is 31. She launders money, helps immigrant women, and is a runaway from the system, still looking for her birth father. All she has is an old photo.
Fashion mogul Vince Horace is dead. His boyfriend of 10 years, Marco Lent, is about to inherit millions and the business.
In this world, the designers are the gods and lives are choreographed, backs stabbed, promises and threats made, all to try to climb onto one of those almighty thrones. I’m the worst of the bunch, and know the sacrifices more than anyone. The last ten years of my life has been orchestrated, a web of deceit and lies, all for one of those thrones.
With the death of Vince, his photos are all over the news, and the photo looks eerily like the one of Avery’s dad. But Vince was gay, right? Avery needs to know, so she heads to New York to find out if he could have been her dad, and Marco literally runs into her.
Of course, the last thing he wants is an heir to Vince’s will popping up. He just spent 10 years living a lie. She just can’t waltz in and take it. She should be the enemy. But he can’t keep his eyes and hands off her.
“There is no way, according to everything I’ve read about Marco Lent, that he is anything other than 100% gay.
And there is no way, according to everything I’ve felt in this car, that he isn’t planning on ripping off my clothes with his teeth once we arrive at his home.”
The forbidden romance was completely unique and had a ton of twists and turns I could never have predicted, but I never felt a strong connection between the two. It felt like he just fucked the first hot girl he could, and as for her, he is just physically perfect.
There are no words for a man like him, no explanation for how perfectly he is created, the lines of his body, the cut of his jaw, the thick line of his lashes, the rough pout of his lips.
But make no mistake, the physical attraction is there!
Fuck, I love her kiss. It’s wild and untamed, unapologetic as it captures my tongue, samples what I have, and gives it all back. Have I ever been kissed like this? Have I ever met a mouth so addictive?
Likes:
- Completely unique plot.
- Totally unpredictable.
- Dual POV
- Very sexy!
- There were funny parts and lots of banter I loved.
- Avery was strong and tough and went after what she wanted.
Dislikes:
- Marco seemed to be more about sex than anything.
- I wish we had more from the fashion world.
- I didn’t see their love form, I just didn’t feel the connection.
- It ramped up too slow and petered out a little at the end.
The Narration:
I love a good duet! I didn’t even notice it was duet narration until midway which is perfect, sometimes duet can be jarring. The couple does not meet for a long time so we hear them both on their own first. I hadn’t heard either narrator before and I hope to hear more from them both. I think the narration helped make it even better.
The Down & Dirty:
Rating 4 Stars, 4.5 Heat, 5 Narration
