Full Package by Lauren Blakely
Narrated by Sebastian York
Adult Contemporary Sexy RomCom
I confess. I have become a Lauren Blakely junky. I have loved every book I have read, but her sexy romantic comedies that are male point of view take the cake. It was hard not to make my Best of 2016 list mostly Lauren Blakely, because I devoured and loved every release last year. Big Rock was my first book of 2016, and it was my gold standard for the year. Now Full Package started 2017 with another bang! There is something magical about her books. The characters are so normal and likable, the men respect women and they don’t really start as assholes, the women are cool and you want to hang with them. There is romance, and super hot sex, but just the right amount to never overtake the story. And let me tell you, Lauren’s writing and Sebastian York? Excuse me while I go change my panties!
Chase is an emergency room Doctor who recently returned from Doctors without Borders, so he needs to find a new apartment in New York City. Not an easy feat. One of his closest friends, Josie, is also his best buddy Wyatt’s (from Well Hung) little sister. They have a great friendship. He loves to tell her all the stories about the things people come into the ER for, and she likes to use him to taste test new treats for her bakery. She can’t find a new roommate that’s not a freak. As they complain to each other about their housing woes, they realize the best solution. He can move into her extra room. They already know they like each other, so what could go wrong?
The problem is Chase has wanted her forever. She is the star of his fantasies. But he loves their friendship more than anything and will never put it in jeopardy by pursuing anything with her. But things get “hard” when they have to share a bathroom, and she wears a teeny little towel.
“My God. This woman. This amazing woman.”
Josie is dating online, not very successfully. So Chase offers to help her out choosing the guys.
“I want what every woman wants.”
“What’s that?”
She cocks her head. Gazes right into my eyes. Licks her lips. “The full package. I want the full package.”
But he can’t really stand the idea of her dating, even as he denies feeling more than friendship. He just thinks he’s protecting a friend.
“My fists clench. My chest pinches. My jaw tightens. But then, I’m just being territorial, I tell myself. I’m a lion protecting my pride.”
Living together causes conversations to get a little more intimate than they used to get between them.
“I’ve been known to watch porn from time to time.”
“Just from time to time?” I ask.
She shrugs naughtily, a little I’ve-got-a-secret look in her eyes.
“It’s okay. Tell the doctor. Masturbation is normal. Don’t be ashamed.”
Oh God, I’m hearing that in my head in Sebastian York’s voice and getting all swoony! I love the friendship and banter these two had.
“Can we call it your Pleasure Den of Personal Delights?”
“Only if I can call the shower your Whack Zone.”
When they move to friends-with-benefits, things start to get a little confusing for them. They both deny there is anything more. It’s just them having fun, scratching an itch, getting each other out of their systems, then they can go back to being friends, right? Right? Hahahaha.
“Her kiss is cupcake and frosting, sex and love. It’s everything that turns me on, and everything I need to be happy.
Her.”
Does this sound like they can go back to friendship?
“She’s cocaine to me, and God, I want more.”
OMG, let me tell you, the sex is so freaking hot! And with Sebastian York doing the dirty talking, it’s molten. Between you and me, I may have worn headphones during nookie that may have been playing one of the sexy scenes from Full Package, and it may have been some REALLY GOOD nookie.
“This is the second-best thing I’ve ever tasted.”
“What’s first?”
I curl my hand around her head. “You.”
My favorite thing about Full Package is that the characters are real. Chase has lots of insecurities (not in bed though!) and they are both so scared of ruining a great friendship that they constantly try to talk themselves out of what they are feeling. But the thing is, everyone knew they were meant to be together except them. I just loved how their relationship will always have the strong foundation of good friendship first.
“Josie, you could eat tuna fish and I’d still be turned on.”
She brings a hand to her chest and bats her eyes. “I think that’s the sexiest thing you’ve ever said to me.”
Likes:
- How it completely stands alone, yet ties in with all the others and gives us glimpses at earlier characters.
- I listened to the entire thing with a goofy grin on my face (except that one time I had my O face).
- The characters seemed real. Normal.
- Very little angst and drama, just a fun, sexy, happy read.
- I laughed out loud several times.
- So freaking hot!
- These books are my favorite Sebastian York narrations. He does the cocky male POV romcoms better than anything else.
- I love how her male characters always respect women and treat them like equals.
- The banter!
- How the friendship they had was the base for everything else.
- That we got a little bit of Josie’s POV through her recipes. It was just enough.
- I love that he is always reading on his phone or listening to audiobooks.
Dislikes:
- The only thing that would have made Full Package even more perfect would have been if there was a female narrator that read her recipes.

While they each easily stand alone, I like reading in order since each couple turns up in the next books. Also, I am putting The Sexy One and The Hot One in there where it belongs chronologically because they are all part of the same group of friends in New York City, but The Sexy One & The Hot One are dual POV while the rest are male POV.
The next book is available for pre-order only on iBooks.
