The Storm (The Storm 3.5) by Samantha Towle
Adult Contemporary Novella. Does Not Stand Alone.
The Storm Series by Samantha Towle is one of my hands-down favorite series. Jake and Tru are such an amazing couple and I love the whole band. I found out she had a novella coming out just the day before release and I can’t tell you how excited I was! I figured it was just going to be a sweet Jake and Tru Christmas bonus since it was releasing two days before the holiday. But I was wrong, so wrong. This novella went deep, it was not a holiday novel, and thank goodness it didn’t mess with my Jake and Tru just to sell another book.
But it was touch and go there for a while. I was scared!
“Tru, JJ, Billy, and Belle— they are everything to me. Everything. My life is perfect. Fucking perfect. I have the woman of my dreams and the best kids a man could ask for. And now this? It’s going to rip all of that apart.”
Though it is not necessary to read this book, you can happily leave where the books ended before, I think The Storm really added to the series. It brought back everything we love about it. This was not just a Jake and Tru epilogue, but a whole new dimension to both the past and future. I laughed, I sobbed, I smiled and I swooned. What more could I want?
Likes:
- The novella really added to the series.
- Revisiting the whole gang.
- Lots of depth for a novella.
- Brought all the emotions.
- Didn’t mess with a great couple.
Dislikes:
- Needed an epilogue after the bonus chapter. A glimpse into the future to take away the tears.
- Could have used another round of editing.
The Down & Dirty:
The Storm added to the Storm Series and was not just a fluffy filler novella. It brought the whole story full circle and made me laugh, cry and swoon. It was a wonderful visit with one of my favorite book couples and I love seeing how strong they are. I just wish it didn’t end so abruptly with the bonus chapter and we got to see a little happy glimpse into the future.
“God, my kids are total cockblockers. But this is our life— stolen moments with each other and permanent interruptions from the kids. Honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
