Sharing Pleasures by Victoria Dunn Review (with thoughts on sharing)

Sharing Pleasures by Victoria Dunn was a good, quick, hot little read! It was also, to me, very easy to relate to. Their ages and marriage (mid-upper 40s, happily married) are very similar to mine. I usually read romance, so it was actually nice and different to see a couple that is so happily married already enjoying themselves sexually even after many years.

Alex and Diane are empty nesters now that their son has gone to college. Diane has lost weight and works out and looks amazing, and he looks pretty good himself. They have a very active & creative sex life together, and like to go to a bar that has live music and a regular crowd. They have gone there for years, and Diane is friendly and flirtatious to everyone.

Alex would love for her too take it further, and secretly wants to watch her being pleasured by another man. He introduces her to the idea by purchasing a life-like dildo, in a pretty hot scene!

The rest of the book was a lead-up to one HOT encounter. I really would have liked to have read more! This was such a normal, relatable couple–I will definitely read the next book in this series.

My personal commentary: This is one fantasy that my husband has shared with me. The idea of doing it is really hot, more so for me because my husband wants it so badly. I have NO desire to be with another man without my husband, but with him is another story. I have been with another woman (many many years ago) with my husband, and that was by far one of the hottest experiences in my life. Not because I was with a woman, but because my husband loved watching and telling us what to do. My being with another man, however, has been something my husband has talked about for years, but only since I had kids. Now, I am overweight, and uncomfortable in my skin. Right now, the idea of anyone wanting me seems impossible, but I also really want to do this for him. I am trying to lose weight so I can give it to him, but I’m sure most of you know, it’s easier said than done (especially when you sit on your ass all day and read!).

I’m not quite sure how the mechanics would work, either. I know my husband. If he even accidentally brushed against another guy during the act, he would freak out. He is also a jealous guy, which makes it a surprise that this is a fantasy he is serious about. I know I certainly don’t want to see him with another woman. Plus, where would we find the guy? How do we know it’s safe? Maybe I can even hire someone for his birthday…..

Any thoughts on sharing and monogamy? Can a couple swing a little and still be happy together? I think if it is a rare occasion, yes. But if you need that to have a good healthy sex life, then it may be a problem.

Table For Three was HOT HOT HOT
