I loved Perfection (A Neighbor From Hell 2) by RL Mathewson!!! I read it back in February and at first, I thought it was too similar to the first in the series, Playing for Keeps…until I continued reading. I couldn’t stop. I did have to break it up with 5-6 hours of sleep, but got right back to it. I found myself smiling the entire time I read it. I was able to relate to Zoe, and I love the Bradford food obsession!
Trevor is another food obsessed Bradford (the cousin of Jason from the first book). He has an idea of the perfect woman and will accept no less than a woman who fits all his criteria for a girlfriend. Zoe who has a bit of a weight issue, just had the worst day of her life. Attacked by her boss’s wife, unfairly fired from her crappy job, her car window is broken and the straw that breaks the camel’s back is her “neighbor from hell” Trevor, stealing her delivery pizza.
They develop a ‘friends with benefits’ situation, as Zoe doesn’t fit into Trevor’s perfect mold, and she doesn’t feel she is good enough for him, especially after overhearing how frumpy and overweight she is. But they gradually moved from being fuck-buddies to more without either of them realizing it. Their relationship was sexy, sweet and laugh-out-loud funny at times.
“I like her,” Brad said, chuckling.
“For a Red Sox tee shirt wearing woman I guess she’s okay,” Jason grumbled.
“Does no one care that she just manhandled me?” Trevor demanded, facing the men who should be properly outraged on his behalf.
Jason snorted. “As long as she brings me food she can bitch slap you and call you spanky.”
Trevor narrowed his eyes on the men who dared laugh at his pain.
- Another smiley, sexy, laugh-out-loud book.
- The Bradford food obsession and the scene at the buffet.
- The recognition of a dangerous diet.
- It started out a little too similar to Playing for Keeps, the first in the series.
Rating: 5 stars for story, 3.75 for Heat
This was another funny, sexy favorite of mine, and I highly recommend it as a nice, light, fun, fluffy beach read.
