PS…You’re Mine by Alexa Riley
Short Erotic Romance
This is my first Alexa Riley book. I purchased Snow and Mistletoe over the holiday season because of great reviews, but I never got to it. For the first 2 weeks, PS…You’re Mine includes Snow and Mistletoe as well, and I can never read just half a book, so I just put up a review for that as well.
I picked PS…You’re Mine up solely because of the cover. I was so happy to see a curvy girl on the cover without a book being classified as BBW (Big Beautiful Women). I never really knew much about the author(s) except many of the books have great covers and high ratings.
Katie Lovely (cheesy name) is a 24 year old high school teacher who gave her class an assignment of becoming pen pals with Marines stationed overseas. Katie had forgotten a girl had transferred so she ended up with an extra Marine and took him on as a pen pal herself.
Sergeant Major Mark Gunner is serving his last tour. At 40, he’s never been in love, and has no family. When he gets a letter from Katie, he really loves it.
“She’s utterly adorable, and I can’t describe how it feels to have someone write me a letter.”
I was reading the sweet cheesy letters back and forth between the couple and really enjoyed it. They sent photos, and um….they enjoyed that in private (teehee). Mark is big and strong. And 40. Katie is a sweet virgin (at 24? Really?) but her friend points out the most important fact:
âIâm just saying he sounds like one of those guys who could pick you up and fuck you against a wall.â
And when she sends him cookies, he’s done for.
When they finally meet, the hot stuff really begins. I loved this:
She moves her hands to try to cover up her stomach, but I lean down, kissing her fingers and gently pushing them away as I kiss her tummy.
âYouâre beautiful everywhere, baby,â I say against her belly. Sheâs soft here, and I nuzzle her flesh, loving that she cushions me. Her body already accepts me and wants me there.
But then…Ugh! You know the sound of screeching tires? That’s what I heard in my head as I read the word CUMMING. I know, maybe it’s petty and picky, but as soon as the word cum was used as a verb the book was ruined for me. I can handle it as a noun, you know, describing the stuff, but come and coming is just so much classier. It honestly, to me, is what differentiates between erotic romance and porn.
Likes:
- Short, sweet, sexy.
- Made me smile.
- The cover.
- Curvy heroine.
- Loved the letters.
- A fun best friend.
- He made her feel small, I so get that.
Dislikes:
- The word Cum as a verb pretty much ruined the book for me. (After speaking with a group of friends, I’m not alone in this!)
- A 24 year old virgin (I know it’s possible because I have a very shy, pretty friend like this, but it’s still kind of silly to me)
- Beyond the one quote above, there was very little about her being curvy.
- Seriously? The title kind of ruined it.
The Down and Dirty:
Rating: 3 Stars (4 if come was used instead of cum), 4 Heat
