Praise (Salacious Players’ Club) by Sara Cate
Narrated by Jack Calihan and Vivienne LaRue
First in a series of standalone sex club romances. Age Gap/Taboo Romance.
It’s been a while since I picked up a sex club romance, but with another book convention coming up—one that Sara Cate would be attending—I figured it was time to finally check out her books. I grabbed the audiobook of Praise, the first in the Salacious Players Club series.
I have to laugh at how everyone acts like this is some groundbreaking concept because back in 2012, books like this were all I was reading when I started my blog. That said, Praise was solid—I see the hype. If you love an age-gap romance with a praise kink, this is definitely for you. Personally, I felt a little old for this one since it’s written for a younger woman into older guys (and let’s be real, when you’re my age, “older guys” means they’ve got one foot in the grave). Too bad Emerson wasn’t into a reverse age gap because… Emerson = Rawr. I mean, I’m not that much older than him!
“You made me very proud today. And you are more than enough. You are perfect.”
Charlie’s boyfriend Bo cheated, so she dumped him and moved out. Unfortunately, Bo’s dad, Emerson, was holding onto their security deposit, so Charlie had to go to his house to pick up the check. The only problem? Emerson had no idea she was coming.
See, Emerson and his friends started a sex club, but for now, he works from home. So when Charlie showed up in his office, he mistook her for a sub and immediately had her drop to her knees. Charlie didn’t know what was going on, but she did know that she liked it—especially when he praised her. A few days later, Emerson offered her a job as his assistant, in the hopes that she could help him reconnect with Bo, with whom he’s estranged.
Well… we all know where that was going. Charlie quickly discovered she loved being submissive, and their chemistry was undeniable—even before she set foot in The Salacious Players Club. The question wasn’t if they would get together, but how they could possibly make it work. Because sleeping with your ex’s dad? Not a great look. And with a nearly 20-year age gap, would it only drive an even bigger wedge between Emerson and his son?
“Because you are mine, Charlotte. And I don’t appreciate when anyone talks badly about something that is mine. Do you think I have bad taste?”
At first, I thought this felt a little immature and had a “been there, done that” vibe, but honestly? I totally got into it. Unfortunately, I was on a plane while listening, so I couldn’t fully enjoy it (if you know what I mean 🤪).
