Picture This by Devney Perry

I picked up Picture This by Devney Perry for a quick listen while waiting for another release, but I didn’t realize it was part of the Haven River Ranch series. I read the first book, Crossroads, and though I loved Devney’s writing, I struggled to love the characters. Luckily, Picture This stands alone just fine, as it’s meant to.

Delylah has been crazy about her best friend’s brother, Noah, for as long as she can remember. So when Emily gets married at Haven River Ranch, Delylah is secretly excited to see her brother, even though she knows Noah is totally off limits.

Emily! UGH! I HATED HER! She was marrying a rich guy, and all his rich finance bro friends were there for the weekend. She wanted Delylah with one of these guys so badly that she orchestrated a glamping trip in the woods that would force Delylah to be alone with him, with absolutely no consent from Delylah. WTF? In the woods with a strange man? Doesn’t she know we pick the bear every time?

Of course, Noah swoops in to save the day.

“I’m not sure what’s going to happen,” he said. “I just know that I can’t be in the same room as you anymore and pretend like you’re not the only woman I can see.”

While I loved Delylah and Noah, my hatred of Emily and her fiancé’s friends ticked me off so much that I can only give Picture This 3.5 stars, even though I loved the romance itself. The whole book takes place over one weekend, but I still felt like we got a pretty complete story in only an hour and 45 minutes.

Samantha Brentmoor and Teddy Hamilton are my favorite pairing, and the dual (not duet) narration was amazing as always.
