Once Upon a Wild Fling by Lauren Blakely
Narrated by Andi Arndt and Sebastian York
3rd Standalone in a Series of 3 – Stay tuned for bonus at the end.
It’s amazing how Lauren Blakely can take a popular trope, even one she has written before, and make it totally special and unique. I think Lauren may have saved the best Hart brother for last because I totally swooned over the youngest brother, Miles, and his son Ben in the third Heartbreakers Series book, Once Upon a Wild Fling.
“It’s not that I think my buddy’s sister is a babe
It’s that I think she’s a total babe.”
Miles is back in New York with his adorable 6 year old son. He is joining his brothers in reuniting the Heartbreakers and getting settled back in the city. His buddy’s sister, Roxy, is off-limits, no matter how much he wants her. Roxy left her high powered, Harvard educated career to open a pet pampering business. She is smart, super independent, and tired of the dating world. She also has a little secret. When Miles is invited to play at his High School reunion, he asks Roxy to come along as “security” from screaming fans and women.
“Hey, Roxy,” I say, then do my damnedest to strike the dirty thoughts from my mind as we chat and William tells her all about my reunion promise.
Even though I’m thinking about her legs most of the time.
For the record, it’s really fucking hard not to think about something when you know you’re not supposed to—that pretty much guarantees it’s the only thing in your head.
But once the food arrives, the chicken sandwich is so insanely tasty it distracts me from imagining how my friend’s sister would look naked.
God bless chicken sandwiches.
The banter between Roxy and Miles has always been flirty and sexy.
“Let’s see. Sexy rocker and hot single dad? Bring it on.”
I lift an eyebrow. “You think I’m hot and sexy?”
“Most of the female population does.”
When the reunion comes, it’s obvious these two have more feelings than friendship.
I want to dance with him so badly I could fling myself at him. One Wild Fling and I’d be in his arms, kissing his face, his cheek, his neck.
Miles 6-year-old son Ben almost stole the show.
“Daddy, will I be a chicken magnet like you when I grow up? I mean, you are handsome like me.”
But then Miles says something so sexy or romantic that he steals it right back.
“You have never been hotter. And that’s saying something because you’ve been a complete and absolute goddess since the night I met you.”
And it’s how he reacted to Roxy’s situation that really made me swoon. I also loved how little Ben just laid it out so simply.
“It’s pretty simple Daddy. You love me, I love you, I love Roxy, Roxy loves me, Roxy loves you, and you love Roxy. So there. Be best friends forever. ”
The audiobook also includes “Little Big Rock” at the end, and OMG, it’s narrated by Sebastian and Andi PLUS Joe Arden and Erin Mallon! Listening to all 4 voices has TOTALLY spoiled me, now I want a whole book like that! It was way too short! But now I need to go back and listen to Big Rock again.
Likes:
- Smart, sexy, funny, sweet, romantic…everything I love about a Lauren Blakely book.
- The flirtatious friendship.
- Ben, Miles’s son was totally adorable.
- Miles was a great dad.
- I love Roxy’s independence.
- No unnecessary drama.
- Such a smart romance.
- All three brothers and their families together was perfect.
- How it stood alone perfectly but was made even better because you read the first 2.
- The little cameos.
Dislikes:
- Once again, nothing.
The Narration:
You would think I would get tired of Sebastian York and Andi Arndt, but somehow Lauren Blakely writes her characters different enough that I never felt confused as to which brother I had. I think that Lauren writes her characters with the narrator in mind and they always just work so beautifully together. I especially love how she uses duet style for texting. But the addition of Little Big Rock at the end with FOUR awesome narrators made this book totally put every other audiobook to shame and spoiled me forever!
The Down & Dirty:
Rating: 5 Stars, 4.5 Heat, Narration 5++++
