Let’s Get Textual by Teagan Hunter
Narrated by Emma Wilder
Romantic Comedy. First in a series of related standalones.
I listened to Let’s Get Textual by Teagan Hunter a few weeks ago and absolutely fell in love. Because I was so backed up with reviews for holiday books, I never got around to reviewing it. I knew when I listened that it would be a top favorite for 2018, so I decided to listen again before I reviewed. Let me tell you, I loved it just as much the second time around, and I am so glad I waited to do my Best of 2018 list (coming soon).
One of my favorite things in a book is texting/e-mails/messaging. Great dialog and banter round out my top 3 favorites. Let’s Get Textual had it all in spades, PLUS A BABY GOAT!!! I always fill my reviews with quotes to give you a feel for the book, but as I go through the e-book to pull quotes, I am having such a hard time choosing! There was just so much awesome banter, I absolutely loved their witty repartee.
Me: I fell asleep thinking of you.
Zach: Please tell me we’re about to sext.
Me: The moment I woke up, I ran my hand down my chest between my bountiful breasts. I slowly dragged it across my flat stomach, goose bumps rising along my skin at the touch. It wasn’t until I was right at the opening of my white cotton panties that I decided I wasn’t going to touch myself because WE ARE NOT SEXTING, YOU PERVERT.
Zach: I hate you so much right now.
Zach: I HAD A SOLID BONER GOING.
I will say, that as I went through the e-book I feel like the audiobook really elevated the story. Reading all the texts may get tedious for some that aren’t huge fans of that, but the audio was PHENOMENAL. Personally, I would love this book either way. Filled with adorable and snarky banter, I laughed out loud several times.
Me: Did you jerk off after our date last night?
Zach: Holy shit. That is THE LAST thing I thought you would ask me. You have balls, woman.
Me: That’s not you answering the question.
Zach: Will you hold my answer against me?
Me: No.
Zach: Promise?
Me: Of course.
Zach: Then… yes, I did.
Me: HAHAHAHA
Me: Dick-toucher.
They are just so PLAYFUL! Plus, did I tell you about the BABY GOAT?
“He touched my ass cheek, Delia. Your hand was on my dick and he touched my fucking ass cheek.”
I shake with laughter, tears running down my cheeks as I watch Zach stand there and glare at an innocent baby goat.
Let’s Get Textual was so fresh and modern. Let’s face it, so many relationships nowadays are conducted via messaging, and you were able to feel the chemistry via text. It was even better when they got together.
“This is the most forward thing I have ever said, but I would kiss you so hard if you’d let me.”
Likes:
- Literally everything!
- Zack was completely confident in an adorable way.
- Delia was snarky and fun.
- I loved Delia’s best friend and even her ex.
- A fantastic meet-cute that has been done before, but still hit the mark.
- Very fresh and modern.
- Witty banter both via text and in person.
- I laughed out loud so much!
Dislikes:
- Nothing.
The Narration:
This was some of the best narration I have ever heard. Emma Wilder made Zach sexy as hell and never once had me wondering who was who. This must have been so hard to narrate because it was almost all dialog back and forth, but she nailed it. I think in this case that the audiobook made the story even better.
The Down & Dirty:
Rating: 5 Stars, 4 Heat, 5+ Narration
