Hotshot by Ahren Sanders
Contemporary Romance. Stands alone.
I’m not sure what I was expecting when I grabbed my first Ahren Sanders book but it wasn’t the drama and angst I got! I thought it would be a sexy light friends to lovers story, but I got a TON of drama. What an addicting read!
When Crenshaw first meets Lisbeth aka “Bizzy”, she was 14 and best friends with Shaw’s little brother. Despite her going through one of the most horrible things anyone can, her spunk and fire just lit up a room.
“I’m blunt and spicy. It makes for more fun.”
Shaw never realized it, but for the last 10 years, Bizzy, who became super close with all three brothers, had a huge crush on him from the minute they met.
“I can’t remember a time when he wasn’t everything I ever wanted.”
It took a while (10 years!), but Shaw’s feelings for his brother’s best friend began to change.
“I’ve always loved her in some way, but those feelings exploded into a new raw need the second her lips touched mine. Suddenly, I was seeing the sweet, little Bizzy as more.”
There was no doubt they were meant to be, and after what Bizzy went through in her life, she deserves only the best.
“I may have been blind to so many things, but I’ve never been blind to who you are. This is not getting to know you, because I already do, and I love everything about you. It’s time to build new memories, together.”
But then Shaw’s past comes back to haunt them both in a big way.
“I break out in a cold sweat, imagining the look on Bizzy’s face and the devastation in her eyes.”
I must say, the villain in this book was one of the most hateful characters ever. And then Shaw just kept making the wrong decisions, allowing himself to be manipulated. I wanted to kick him in the teeth a few times for hurting Bizzy who deserved nothing but perfect love.
Likes:
- Kept me completely riveted, unable to put it down.
- Fell in love with Bizzy.
- A hateful villain.
- Good sex scenes.
- Lots of emotion.
- Very different than expected.
- So much passion and chemistry—such a great connection between the couple.
Dislikes:
- The drama may have gone a little too long and been a little too much. I wanted to kill him.
Warning:
If you have “safety” issues, you may want to delve deeper into some reviews that tell you a little more. While there is no cheating, there is drama that crosses a line that some people just won’t read.
The Narration:
This was my first time with the male narrator, and the second with the female. They were both incredible and would love to read more from each. They enhanced the story for me.
The Down & Dirty:
Rating: 4.25 Stars, 4 Heat, 5 Narration
