Dirty Charmer by Emma Chase
Narrated by Andi Arndt and Rupert Channing
Standalone Spin-off of the Royally Series
I’ve been a fan of Emma Chase since she released Tangled back in 2013 and she has never disappointed me. If you are looking for a fun, sexy, sweet, and funny romance, Emma delivers every single time. I love the Royally Series, and while Dirty Charmer isn’t about royalty, it does tie-in because it’s about Tommy Sullivan, bodyguard, who we met in the first Royally book. Do you have to read them first? No, I don’t think so, but it would make it better and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
When Tommy Sullivan awoke in the hospital to find a sexy but buttoned-up doctor tending to his wounds, he immediately flirted with the beautiful doctor.
“You know what they say about men with big brains, don’t you? We’re big everywhere.”
“Are you implying there’s a correlation between the size of your brain and the size of your genitals?”
His brow furrows. “Well, I wouldn’t have used those words—ever. But yeah, that’s what I’m saying.”
They share one fantastic kiss, but she is all about work, and he’s all about play.
“I’m leaving.”
“Funny. Typically the girls I kiss like to tell me when they’re coming.”
Fast forward a few years, and Abby is still working non-stop and has absolutely zero social life. Coming from an aristocratic and hugely successful family, she feels that being just a heart surgeon isn’t enough when the rest of her family is off changing the world. So she is single-minded in her career.
“Perhaps I wasn’t precisely happy, but I was satisfied. Then Tommy Sullivan came along and he changed all my plans.”
When her family is threatened, it’s Tommy they hire to guard Abby, and Tommy’s relentless flirting begins again. When Abby is basically told that her all-work/no play attitude is holding back her career, she decides to take Tommy up on whatever he has to offer.
“I believe God wants me to screw some joy into Abby Haddock’s life. Lucky for me, the Almighty’s desires coincide with my own. And I’m more than up to the task.”
But Abby can’t get sidetracked from her career.
I love a light, fluffy, and fun Emma Chase read. But I will say, this wasn’t unique. I almost felt like I read it before. But Emma’s delivery is what makes it fun.
“I’m already breaking all my rules. But there’s a frenzied, frantic desire pulling inside me. Twisting me up and twirling me around. I’m caught in it, captured by it, completely at its mercy. At his mercy.”
Likes:
- Emma Chase never fails in bringing me a book that makes me smile from start to finish.
- I loved that it stood alone requiring me to not remember anything, yet it still had visits from favorite characters.
- Tommy was so much fun! His cocky arrogance cracked me up.
- The dirty flirty banter. It’s Emma Chase gold.
- Lots of sexy times.
- Very little to no angst.
- Opposites attract.
Dislikes:
- Abby wasn’t the most lovable.
- I listened a couple of weeks ago and basically had to listen again to remember it. It just didn’t stand out as unique or different.
The Narration:
I loved both Andi Arndt and Rupert Channing in this. They both played their characters beautifully and I think they enhanced the read.
The Down & Dirty:
Rating: 4 Stars, 4 Heat, 4.5 Narration
