The comfort series by Annabel Joseph was not a quite a traditional romantic BDSM series. The three books are very different, and all are very well written. This entire series is a bit darker than my tastes run, but I still couldn’t put the books sown.
1-In the first book, Comfort Object, Nell is a professional submissive to a movie star. This was tough to review. The writing was excellent, and the author takes you on a roller coaster where you can’t put down the book. One negative on the writing was that being first person from both characters (back and forth), I often got confused as to who was speaking.
Jeremy was a dick, plain & simple. In other BDSM books I have read, the Dom is so focused on his sub, and comforting her after, etc. but this guy was just an all around ass. Though his inner dialogue saved him a bit, he deserved to be left for good after the fireplace scene. I hated him, plain and simple.
Yet I loved the writing and story enough to read Kyles book. 3.5 stars, 4.5 H

2- The second book, Caressa’s Knees was way better than the first.
Beautifully written, intelligent story of a sheltered, orphaned, out of control cello prodigy finding love and self control. Yes it was a sequel, but SO different from the first. Kyle was worthy of love, it was Caressa who was difficult, but very often that is how these prodigies are, especially ones with no parents to ground them.
This one was definitely not as heavy on the kink, at all. So those of you wanting more, this may not be the place. It was light on the BDSM compared to the first, and would be very OK for a beginner getting into this genre, whereas the first one was not at all.
I really enjoyed this book, while steamy it was a great story of some of the struggles of this musical genius. 4.5 stars, 4 H

3-Odalisque is the third in the series. The writing is a 4.5 but the story is very similar to the first in the series. Basically, a super-hot Pretty Woman story. I liked it a lot, couldn’t put it down, but there was nothing really unique or unpredictable. I knew the story from the first chapter.
I think if it were read a few months later instead of so quickly after the previous installments I would have really loved it more. Heat was 5, And I upped it to a 4 overall.
If you are looking for another BDSM series, this is a good one. Just know, however, that the first one is the worst, but it gets better. You don’t have to read the first one, but the characters do show up, so it would be a cleaner easier read with it.

4-Command Performance is still on my TBR list.
