Trophy Husband Audiobook by Lauren Blakely, Narrated by Samara Naeymi
Part of a standalone series
Sweet sexy and steamy! Trophy Husband by Lauren Blakely was sitting in my audible library for some time, and now that I have to listen to more books, I figured it was time to start it. I’m so glad I did! At just under six hours, this was a pretty short audible book, and it really hit the spot.
McKenna Bell is a fashion blogger/webshow host living in New York City. I loved her, she reminded me of so many of my friends. Down to earth, a little retro, spunky, and just…relatable. McKenna’s fiancé left her the day before their wedding for a younger gymnast and married her quickly. She was still happy…until she ran into the couple, and saw this younger, prettier girl living the life she was supposed to lead.
So McKenna decided she wanted a trophy husband. If the guys can do it, why can’t she? There would be only a few rules:
1-He must be younger.
2-He needs to be HOT.
3-He has to have the perfect body, no fat anywhere.
4-He can’t have a good career, he needs to be a “kept” man after all.
Is that so much to ask for? Love, and a talented mouth?”
With the help of her friends (who I also enjoyed), McKenna introduces the contest on her video blog. It really took off when it was picked up by Chris, who runs a super popular gamer/geek video blog show.
Ahhhh, Chris. Tall, dark, handsome, sexy, funny, a total geek, and very successful. Unfortunately, he is not trophy husband material. He has hot and no body fat down pat, but he is older than McKenna, and has a super successful career.
But as they discuss cross-promotions, things heat up, and the trophy husband contest rules are bent a bit. McKenna still dates other candidates, and the dates were fun to hear about, especially “Steely Dan Duran”. But nobody measured up to Chris.
The real reason I agreed to do your contest wasn’t to promote my show. I couldn’t care less. I did it because I wanted to be in the running. I want to be the only one in the running. I want you.”
But freaking McKenna can’t let go of her stupid contest!
