“Grace, I still have the taste of you on my tongue and the feel of your body in my arms, you’re not easy to get off my mind. As a matter of fact, I haven’t thought about anything else since I first laid my eyes on you.”
Saving Grace (Mad World 2) by Christine Zolendz is the continuation of Fall From Grace (see my review here) which ended on a cliffhanger. This is a very interesting series, in that the first book reads like a contemporary romance until about halfway in, when some paranormal kicks in. The second book continues right where the first left off. But it was a stronger book overall for me, especially because the humor from the first book was really kicked up a notch for the second.
And Shane……..mmmmm, Shane. He is totally my Book Boyfriend for the week. Tattoos, muscles, gorgeous lead singer/guitarist…..yummy. I don’t want to give away too much of the plot here, because I don’t want to spoil anything if you haven’t read the first book. But let’s say this, this book was a fucking tease too! But we do finally get satisfaction at the end.
The funny lines in this book kept me highlighting like crazy. Grace’s inner voice was hysterical. Here are just a few of her inner thoughts, her quotes are just as funny (as are Lea and Alex’s):
Holy Crappocalypse! I was turning into one of THOSE GIRLS! I wanted to punch myself in the face to knock some sense into myself.
That man was going to make me self cum-bust right in front of him one day
I could have had an orgasm from the mind fuck he was giving me right there
Holy Dripping Wet Panties! That man should come with a warning label.
I could lick that boy from head to toe like a big old lollipop.
I was speechless anyway. I couldnât even think right. Well⊠mentally he was about eight inches deep in me and I was screaming his name raking my nails down his back.
I just wanted to wrap my legs around his face.
Holy Crap! My knees, there are butterflies in my knees!
Did I say fuckasstard? What is a fuckasstard?
And my absolute favorite:
“No plans,” I whispered. Test drive your mattress? Let me pretend to be a Skittle and you can taste my rainbow? Fifty Shades me? Please! Oh, holy horror, I’m freaking losing it.
Not only that, Shane is fucking sexy as hell, and the things he says are almost as hot as him doing them.
“I’ll tell you damn well what I want to do right now, Grace, I want to smother those beautiful nipples of yours in fucking honey and lick and suck them until you beg me to take you.”
I gasped at his words…Uh, yessss please!
“Then I want to slowly pull those lacy boy shorts you wear to the side and taste you so damn bad, I want to bury myself inside you so deep I make you forget what your fucking name is……I want to lose my mind in you.”
But as much as I enjoyed every second of reading this book, I.DON’T.GET.IT. The whole angel storyline was cool, but I don’t get it. I am left with most of the same questions from the first book. Was he Shane? Or her angel? Both? The whole time? Why didn’t he say? I am hoping the next book in the series, from Shane’s POV will answer some of my questions.
Likes:
- I laughed a whole helluva lot!
- Mmmmmmm…….Shane.
- The hottest shot of Tequila I’ve ever read.
- Happy ending, no cliffhanger.
- So many funny lines and thoughts I couldn’t even highlight them all.
- Great “Happy-Epilogue-After”.
Dislikes:
- Unless my copy was the issue, I had a tone of formatting issues (spaces in words).
- I still don’t really get it!
- A few too many errors.
- They spent too much time apart, not enough together–Shane was an ass with other women and Grace was jumping to conclusions.
Rating: 4.5 Stars, 4 for Heat
Despite not really getting exactly what happened on the angel front, I have to say, I still read this series through in one sitting, and really loved it. I have to take 1/2 star off for not totally getting it. As far as heat goes, even though they don’t consummate till the end, the build up was pretty freaking hot. I definitely am looking forward to reading Shane’s POV!
“I promise you, I will pick up every little broken piece of you, every single fucking piece, Grace, and for the rest of my fucking life, I will put you back together…I’ll make you whole again.”

Ya know, I really liked this series also. It has been a while since I’ve read it, but I remember not really getting it either. But because the rest was so good, I didn’t care. And HOLY! the chemistry between Grace and Shane!!
