Kiss Me by CC Wood has all of the things I look for in a novel. An alpha guy, a feisty, fun heroine I love, some good sexy times, some giggling moments and lots of “aaawwwws”. But it didn’t have one thing I wanted….MORE!!!
Though Kiss Me can be a stand-alone novella, I highly recommend you read A Kiss For Christmas first (this story is good any time of year-see my review here.) In A Kiss for Christmas, we meet Kevin and Blair. Ā Blair’s BFF is Kevin’s younger sister, Kaylie. During that book, I must say, Kaylie was a stand-out character, and a few of us begged CC for her story, and it totally lived up to expectations!
Jake Coulter dumped Kaylie six years earlier. But she never quite got over him. She kind of hates him for dumping her, but those old feelings are still there, simmering under the surface. But now, Kaylie is Maid of Honor and Jake is Best Man at her brother’s wedding, so she will be seeing Jake quite a lot.
Jake starts flirting with Kaylie…she doesn’t get it and it’s pissing her off. How dare he play with her heart? HE dumped HER, and now he is getting all flirty. She tries to pull it off like he doesn’t affect her, but his familiarity with all of her weaknesses, his gentlemanly behavior that so many guys lack, and his persistence start to wear her down. Kaylie is feisty. She’ll kick you in the shin and throw a little tantrum, and that’s one of the things Jake always loved about her.
“If you leave this room, I will chase you down and carry youĀ back up here over my shoulder if I have to.”
He responded by grabbing her wrists and pulling his body so that she now straddled his hips. Kaylie gasped as he put her hands on the headboard above him, forcing her to grip the top.
āDonāt let go,ā he stated.
Kaylie shivered. Usually if a man bossed her around, bedroom or not, she would kick him in the nuts. However, it appeared that a bossy Jake really did turn her onā¦ā
Telling a full story in about 60 pages is not easy to do. How much can you really do in 60 pages? But CC did a great job of getting the reader right into the story and not letting go till the happy ending. It was a short, sweet, happy fun book that is perfect to read when you want a little treat. Like it’s cover, it’s like a sweet candy, that is gone way too fast.
I am not going to list likes and dislikes for such a short title. I will say this, my only dislike is I wanted more!!! MORE!!! Yes I’m greedy like that. Part of me wants to take off half a star because of how short it is, but then I want to add it back because she gave a damn full story in such a small amount of pages. It’s just hard to compare this to her other novellas that run around 100 pages to this one. But I’m going to judge it for the shorter story it is and give it 5 stars because it made me happy.
Rating: 5 stars (for a short novella) 4.5 Heat
Go ahead. For less than a buck you’ll have an hour or two of happy, sexy entertainment, and it feels like you got a whole juicy story. I giggled, got horny, and even teared up. What the hell else can you expect from a novella? Nothing! This had it all.
