Turbulence by Whitney G.
Narrated by Joe Arden and Erin Mallon
Standalone Erotic Romance with separate FREE epilogue.
If you like super-cocky, dirty-talking alpha-holes, Turbulence by Whitney G. is the perfect book for you. I grabbed this book on audible because it’s one of the few that still has $1.99 audible upgrade, and I’m so glad I did, this was completely up my alley. There is also a FREE, separate epilogue, which is a must read, and perfectly finishes the book.
Jake is one of the cockiest most full-of-himself guys I’ve read about. I think you have to be, to an extent, to be a pilot, taking thousands of lives in your hands daily. Not only is he a pilot, he is the best pilot, making more than everyone else, plus he has the best record, especially for his age. But he knows it, and is unapologetic with his cocky attitude. He reminds me a bit of my husband (who was a pilot) and my son. Super smart, and not afraid to let you know it.
You know… if it weren’t for a certain mark of honor on your profile, I would have had you fired weeks ago, when you allegedly told an entire group of passengers to ‘Get the fuck off my plane’ when you thought they were taking too long to disembark.”
“That wasn’t allegedly. The clip is on YouTube.”
Gillian comes from a family of perfect assholes, but she is determined to make it on her own in New York City. She is working two jobs, one as a housekeeper, and one as a flight attendant. One of the apartments she takes care of seems to have owners who are never there, so Gillian has begun to use the apartment as her secret place, stashing some of her things there and even sleeping and showering there occasionally. So when she met a gorgeous guy and wanted to try her first one-night-stand, she brought him back to “her place”.
“This was his apartment. I’d just brought him here for a one-night stand and given him a tour of his own fucking apartment…”
To make matters worse, they realize they work for the same airline. An airline in the middle of a takeover, and one BIG rule is no fraternization, Not that Jake cares about rules, he just cares about fucking. Jake is a broken man behind all his bravado. And there is NO WAY he is having a relationship.
“If I agree to this,” he said, his jaw clenched. “There will be no late night emotional talks, no mention of the words ‘more’ ‘us’ or ‘relationship’, and I won’t be taking you out on any dates.” (…)
“You don’t get to ask me questions about anything more than if I can go harder, longer, and deeper and I won’t ask you anything outside of ways I can better please your pussy.” (…)We’ll share our bodies, not out lives… That’s all I can ever give you. That’s all I ever will give to you.”
——
Until this ends, my cock is the only cock you’re allowed to have, your mouth belongs to me, and if you’re ever wet and in need of pleasure, you’ll wait until I’m available to give it to you.”
They were HOT together! Their relationship was mostly sexual, meeting up anywhere they could, sneaking around and taking risks wherever their flight paths may cross.
Biting my neck, he whispered harshly into my ear. “If you scream like that again, someone is going to find us.” His fingers dug into my skin, a slight punishment. “And I’m not stopping, Gillian. Audience or not.”
But you know how that goes.
“She was getting under my skin, slipping into my marrow, and that was a problem.”
But can Jake ever do more than just sex?
Likes:
- Super cocky and very intelligent hero.
- Lots of funny.
- Banter! My favorite!
- The twist.
- Sexy dirty talker.
- The business side of the airline merger may have been a lot for some, but I rather enjoyed that part.
- HOT!
- Tie-ins to the book world
Dislikes:
- Gillian was a bit weak, especially at the beginning.
- Lost its way a bit about ⅔ through and there were too many storylines for a bit.
- Ended abruptly, but the separate epilogue was great.
Narration:
I enjoyed the narration, and it was so nice to have some different voices from the ones I hear so much. I loved Joe Arden, the male narrator, but I have to say, Erin Mallon always sounds like she is on the verge of tears to me, so while I like her, she isn’t my favorite. Still, I highly recommend the audible version.
The Down & Dirty:
Rating: 4 Stars, 4.5 Heat, 4 Narration
