I read a Vi Keeland book that I just loved last year, but it’s been over a year, so when an opportunity to listen to Jilted early came up, I jumped at the opportunity. I’m so glad I did, it’s everything I hoped for.
Sloane has been obsessed with weddings since she was a little girl—so much so that she turned that love into a career, now working for Bride Magazine covering all things wedding-related. But after being left at the altar herself? Let’s just say weddings have lost their sparkle. And so have men. At least for a while.
“We all bring baggage to a relationship. The important thing is what you do with it. You can carry it with you forever, or you can unpack it.”
In the middle of covering a true Bridezilla disaster, Sloane gets roped into stepping in as a bridesmaid, walking down the aisle with the hot-as-hell groomsman, Wilder. What starts as a hellish day takes a turn for the better—especially after a coat closet encounter with Wilder that neither of them can forget. But the surprise comes later when Sloane finds out that Wilder is her boss’s son, and she’s been assigned to cover a series of weddings… that he’ll also be attending.
Jilted by Vi Keeland is pure feel-good romance—slow burn, swoony, and full of heart. I loved how the couple actually got to know each other before taking things further, and I was pulled in from the start. It was such an easy, fun listen that had me laughing out loud more than a few times.
Likes:
- I loved Sloane—smart, relatable, and funny
- Diabetes rep and the way Wilder looked out for her
- Loved her dad, and the Parkinson’s rep was well done
- It was just an all-around feel-good romance
- Her podcast and wedding “rules” were a great touch
- Great banter
- Slooooow burn
- Perfect amount of spice
Dislikes:
- I absolutely loved it while I was reading, but now that I’m writing this review a week later, I’m realizing it wasn’t super memorable
- A few little timeline issues stood out—like a 10-year-old flashback where she’s supposedly watching Reels?
The Narration:
Andi Arndt was fabulous as always. I usually enjoy Aiden Snow, but his accent felt very inconsistent here, and I wish there had been a little more character variation in his delivery. I still loved the audio and think it added to my enjoyment.
The Down & Dirty:
Jilted by Vi Keeland is the perfect between-dark-books palate cleanser. Though it’s a slow burn in terms of spice, the pacing never dragged. The story had just the right amount of steam without letting it take over. I know it’s overused, but “humor, heat, and heart” really does describe this one best. I loved the characters, the banter, and the way it all came together. When it ended, I honestly wanted to give my Kindle a hug. There were definitely hints that a related book could be coming—and I’ll totally be there for it.
Rating: 4.5 Stars, 3 Heat, 4 Narration
