Drive Me Wild by Carly Robyn is the second standalone in the Drive Me series, following Drive Me Crazy (review). For fans of sports romance—especially the thrill of F1—this one delivers! I mean, just Google the current F1 grid: 20 handsome men in race suits? Yes, please! But beyond the eye candy, the high-speed world of F1 is the only sport I follow. I could definitely see Carly Robyn’s growth as a writer here. The story flowed effortlessly, with fewer analogies and more attention to the action on the track, which I really appreciated.

Josie and Theo, two close colleagues at McAllister Racing, have a solid working relationship and a comfortable friendship. Josie’s embracing her independence after a recent breakup, while Theo—a notorious playboy—might be looking for something more serious than either of them expected. Their chemistry is undeniable, and it was fun watching things evolve between them, from playful banter to deeper feelings.

“You’re my biggest adventure and my safe space all rolled into one gorgeous girl with a fantastic rack.”
“That was very sweet until you brought my tits into it.”
“Chip and Dale deserve recognition,” Theo argues with a pout.

Theo’s backstory and connection to the racing world really stood out, and the contract negotiation scenes were one of my favorite parts of Drive Me Wild. There were a few predictable moments, but they didn’t really take away from my overall enjoyment.

Likes:

How they sent messages in playlists.
The bromance between teammates.
Seeing lots of Blake (Theo’s teammate) and Ella from the first book.
Theo was puppy dog fun.
Fun banter.
The racing scenes were well done and the F1 info was accurate.
I loved the story of his contract.
The trusting friendship the couple had.
He fell first.
Lots of good and not corny spice.

Dislikes:

I don’t remember if maybe it happened in the first book, but Theo and Josie were besties. We never saw that part, and it made me feel like I missed an important part of their story.
Their first time was skipped over and we were only told about it after. My annotation is “WTF??? I need detail!”
The controversy with the team owner was resolved too quickly and just popped out of nowhere.

The Down & Dirty:

Drive Me Wild by Carly Robyn stands strong on its own, but reading Drive Me Crazy first would add to the experience. Carly’s writing has taken a big step forward since her debut, and Theo and Josie’s story is easy to get into. F1 fans will enjoy the racing details, but you don’t have to be an expert to appreciate this friends-to-lovers romance with plenty of spice. Drive Me Wild is a steamy, friends-to-lovers romance where you can’t help but love the boyish hero and independent strong heroine. I’m already looking forward to Drive Me Home, the next in the series!
