Since I work for Sawyer Bennett, I don’t formally rate her books, but I still like to share my thoughts when I read them, and I absolutely loved Code Name: Harbor. (NOTE: Code name: Harbor is available in Audiobook on her website and at most audiobook retailers, but is not available on Audible, and her new books will not be there going forward.)
Josie McAdams is an intelligence specialist with Jameson Force Seattle who finds herself in serious trouble when a mission on the docks goes wrong. The last person she expects to save her life is Finn Marlowe, a smuggler who makes his living on the wrong side of the law. But when Josie needs his help taking down a human-trafficking ring, they end up working together, despite the fact that trusting each other goes against pretty much everything they know.
This one grabbed me from the very first chapter and never let go. I found myself listening at times I don’t normally listen because I just wanted to know what happened next. The suspense kept things moving, but I was totally invested in Josie and Finn and I loved them together. Finn may be a criminal, but when it really matters, there’s a good guy underneath all that moral gray. And I just loved Josie. She’s smart, capable and really good at what she does, but she still felt very real to me.
Code Name: Harbor was basically candy for this romantic suspense lover. It was a quick, sexy, exciting listen that completely hit the spot. This was one of those books where every time I had a few free minutes, I wanted to put my earbuds back in. I listened in one day.
Erin Mallon and Sean Masters were perfect casting for this audiobook. They each portrayed their characters so well and I think the edge-of-your seat excitement was portrayed perfectly by both of them.
Code Name: Harbor is the second book in the Jameson Force Seattle series, but I think it stands alone really well. I always prefer reading a series in order, but you could easily start with Josie and Finn and not feel like you were missing anything.
Whether I work for her or not, Code Name: Harbor by Sawyer Bennett is a 2026 favorite.
I am withholding a rating because I don’t know how unbiased I am. In this case, I would still put this on my best of 2026 list though if that gives you any indication. It’s about a 3 Heat rating, and the narration, since it’s not duet would be a 4.5.
