Insider (Exodus End #1) by Olivia Cunning
Olivia Cunning is my favorite erotic author. She’s the one who got me hooked. She writes the perfect blend of romance, humor, and hot kinky sex. The Sinners on Tour Series is still my favorite erotic series, and has been since 2011, so I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on Insider, the first in the spin-off series about the band Exodus End.
This isn’t Dare’s book, it’s Logan’s, the bass player. But it did get me more excited for Dare’s book. In fact, I’m more excited for all the books in the series now that I’ve been introduced to them. There is a huge tie-in with Sinners via Reagan and Trey, Dare’s brother. Visiting with the Sinner was actually my favorite part of the book, because I love me some Sinners!
Toni, the heroine, is a 25 year old virgin. Sigh……not just a virgin, but a ridiculously naive virgin. She is sent on her first major assignment to write an interactive book on Exodus End and tour with them for a month. She has been a caretaker to her special needs sister most of her life while her mom built a publishing empire, so at least there is a reason for her naivety.
Logan is the funny, daredevil, crazy free spirit of the band. And when the nerdy Toni meets him for the first time, she sleeps with him within an hour so the whole band can hear. Wow, helluva way to lose your virginity!
Sweet, shy and female, a combination Logan could never resist. Especially the female part. Her fantastic tits were just a bonus.”
Toni was as confusing as hell! I just didn’t get her. She was completely shy and innocent one minute, then she says and does things that completely surprise you. Things a innocent virgin wouldn’t really do.
If you keep staring at it like that, I’m going to come all over your face.”
Did penises really do that? Could he ejaculate just because a woman stared at his cock? Or would he need a little more stimulation? She took a steadying breath, leaned forward, and kissed the swollen head.
And this one really confused me:
Whoa! Had she just had an orgasm? She wasn’t sure, but she felt delightful.”
Yet within a few pages it says she mentions that she brought herself to climax many times in the past.
So for the first 20% of the book, I was just a bit annoyed. A 25 year old virgin gave it up within an hour to a rock star. It just seemed a little too…NA. And typical.
As the fairly lengthy book continued, Toni writing in her diary made me crazy as well. In fact, my note at the time says “Is she 12?”
“Goodnight, Journal. I’m glad you’re here to listen to my silly problems.
Logan was a bit immature too, but I still really enjoyed him.
Oh Logan. He’s so… alive. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who appreciates life the way he does. Balls out and full throttle.”
The sex was hot as hell, but because of her innocence it wasn’t as kinky as her usual writings.
You’re sensitive,” he murmured to her belly button. “I can’t wait to latch on to your clit. I’m going to suck it until you come so hard you scream.”
Toni’s knees clamped shut again. he was going to do what to her whozit?”
The biggest win of Insider is Olivia’s writing. I love her style, and her mix of a full story filled with great sex and humor. I will grab up the rest of this series right when they come out as well. I still enjoyed Logan and Toni together, and I still enjoyed the book, but this wasn’t my favorite. Hopefully the rest will be!
- Seeing glimpses of Sinners.
- Logan was sexy as fuck and fun.
- The actual storyline was good, except for the fact that she was SUCH a virgin.
- Meeting all the guys from Exodus End.
- Filled with humor.
- Still sexy as hell!
- Toni was way, way too immature and naive.
- Toni talking to her diary.
- While the sex was written great (as Olivia always does), it was missing the usual kink.
- It was a very quick start (too quick) and a very quick end (too quick) yet the middle tended to drag at times in this longer than usual book.
Rating: 3.5 Stars, 4.5 Heat
