These little Audible Originals from Cara Bastone have ended up on my year-end favorites lists a few times. They’re such a fun and unique audiobook experience, and I highly recommend listening with headphones in both ears rather than through speakers. The audio uses Dolby Atmos, so sounds come at you from different directions, making the whole experience much more immersive.
All the Time in the World by Cara Bastone was written specifically for audio, and it’s obvious. The story is told entirely through dialogue and sound, and with headphones you can pick up on so many little details happening around the characters. I don’t usually like graphic audio because, for the most part, those are traditionally written books adapted into graphic audiobooks. This is different. All the Time in the World was created to be experienced this way, and it was such a fun ride.
It stands alone just fine, but it’s the third in a series of light sci-fi romances. I really enjoyed Maybe This Time, the first in the series, but somehow missed the second. The books are interconnected, closed-door, time-slip romances.
In this world, mysterious wormholes appeared on Earth, and people who fell into them were transported through time. A scientist eventually figured out how to close them, except for a few remaining wormholes on a remote island.
Celeste and Everett both discover the island and venture there at the exact same time. They don’t know each other, but they quickly realize they’ll have to work together to make it across the island in four days, when they’re scheduled to be picked up.
There’s adventure and romance, along with some great conversation and banter (plus a cute dog!). The way the story is written and performed almost makes you feel like you’re watching a reality show, getting this up-close glimpse of everything happening in real time.
Cara Bastone’s Love Lines audiobooks will probably always be my favorites, but I still loved All the Time in the World so much. The dialogue and banter were top-notch, the action kept me invested, and the sound effects added so much personality and atmosphere to the story.
If you’re an audiobook listener, I highly recommend giving this one a try. It’s different, entertaining, and designed to take advantage of everything audio can do. The all-star full cast is fantastic, the plot kept me hooked, and the sound effects enhance the story rather than drowning it out.
Definitely grab your headphones for this one.

Cara Bastone’s audio-first stories are such a treat, and the full-cast narration with sound effects sounds like exactly the right way to experience a story told entirely through dialogue. I love the sound of a light sci-fi time-slip romance that’s closed door with plenty of banter, and Emily Bader and Lewis Pullman seem like such strong casting. Adding this one to my audiobook queue — thank you for the review!
