Secret Haven by Catherine Cowles
Narrated by Connor Crais and Stella Hunter
The 6th and final book in the Sparrow Falls Series. The romance stands alone, but it’s so much better if you read the series in order. Romantic Suspense.
Thank you to Catherine Cowles and her team for an early copy of Secret Haven for review. My reviews are always 100% honest. Affiliate links included.
“You were my safe haven, the place I returned to again and again, even if I could only hold you in the secret places of my soul.”
I could keep this review short and sweet and say, “OMG, Secret Haven by Catherine Cowles is the perfect end to an amazing series!” But if you’ve read my reviews before, you know my long-winded ass can’t stop there. I am so sad the Sparrow Falls Series is over! What will I do without Lolli to make me laugh? She’s one of my favorite side characters in all the books I’ve ever read.
“Even if I’d only ever have pieces of her. Those tiny shards were better than anything else.”
We’ve known Kyler and Fallon since the very beginning of the Sparrow Falls series. Fallon is the biological daughter of Nora, the mother of the entire Colson family. Kye and Fallon fell in love in high school—he was from the “other side of the tracks,” and Fallon used to sneak away from school to bring him lunch and tutor him. Until Kye was removed from his home and placed with the Colsons. He knew that if anyone found out about their connection, he could lose his place there, so for the next fifteen years, they pretended they didn’t already know each other and they were raised as siblings. But neither of them ever saw the other as a sibling.
“It’s not because I don’t want to. I’ve been dreaming of you since I was sixteen. You’ve been my one spark of light in the hellish dark. The only good thing in my life. But I won’t risk losing you or the family you gave me. Because I’m sure of one thing: I’ll fuck this up. And I’m not ruining the only good in my life because of it.”
They’ve both been pining for years, and it’s getting harder and harder to hide their feelings. Fallon is now a social worker, and Kye owns a tattoo parlor and MMA gym. He’s successful, but still broken from his awful upbringing. When Fallon brings him shocking news, they have to unite and marry to prove Kye is a safe, well-adjusted man.
Until someone starts threatening that peace.
Though this story can stand alone, the way it brings the entire Sparrow Falls series full circle is brilliant. Catherine has been planting little seeds in each book, and they all bloom beautifully here. The way Kye has been living his life for her and holding it back for so many years is heartbreaking, but it’s so much more special when they both admit their true feelings.
Of course, there’s the question of how the rest of the Colsons and the town will react, since everyone sees them as siblings. Catherine handled it all perfectly in this slow-burn romance. I loved Kyler and Fallon so much.
“What. Did. You. Call. My Wife?”

The Narration:
Connor Crais and Stella Hunter were perfect for this dual narration audiobook. Not once did I wish it was duet, because they each voiced the other’s dialogue so well. They truly brought the story to life, and I can’t imagine reading it instead of listening.
The Down & Dirty:
Secret Haven might be my favorite book in the Sparrow Falls Series—and that’s saying a lot. It had all my favorite tropes, a mystery I couldn’t solve, an “it’s always been you” vibe, the perfect balance of heart and humor, and it gripped me from start to finish. Catherine Cowles couldn’t have written a better, more emotional, and more satisfying ending to this incredible series. Secret Haven is the perfect blend of heartbreak, hope, and healing—the ending every fan of Sparrow Falls has been waiting for.
