Yours Truly (Part of Your World, Book 2) by Abby Jimenez
Standalone in a related series. Emotional Romantic Comedy.
“We’re all a little broken, Briana. We are a mosaic…There are parts of us that are colorful and dark and jagged and beautiful. And I love every piece of you. Even the ones you wish didn’t exist.”
After falling in love with Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez, I had to go back and read the first two books in this series of related standalones. I already loved Part of Your World, the first book, where we first meet Dr. Briana Ortiz—and now I love her even more after finishing Yours Truly.
The Story
Briana is finalizing her divorce from her cheating ex and has lost all trust in men. She’s strong, sharp-witted, and hands down the funniest character in this book—especially when it comes to her epic revenge on her ex. That moment had me falling for her instantly.
But Briana’s also dealing with some heavy stuff, like caring for her younger brother, who desperately needs a kidney transplant.
Enter Jacob Maddox, the new doctor at Briana’s hospital. Jacob doesn’t exactly make a good first impression. After losing seven patients on his first night, he earns the nickname “Dr. Death.” Add in his severe social anxiety, which often comes off as aloof or rude, and the fact that he’s supposedly being considered for the promotion Briana’s worked toward for three years, and things get tense—fast.
Then Jacob starts writing her letters.
Their pen-pal relationship was one of my favorite parts of the book. Epistolary elements always get me, and the way they got to know each other through letters felt intimate and deeply personal. Jacob was such a sweet, thoughtful cinnamon-roll hero, and I loved how Briana instinctively knew how to handle his anxiety, making adjustments without ever making him feel like a burden.
“Jacob made me feel safe. He was like a living lullaby. A softly spoken word. The smell of coffee and toast in the morning or a cozy fleece blanket. The rain pattering on the roof on a day where you don’t have to go anywhere or do anything.”
The Romance
I adored how Briana and Jacob just got each other. Their connection felt organic and heartfelt, but the second half of the book slowed down a bit for me. The healthy relationship they built early on hit a frustrating snag with miscommunication that dragged on longer than I wanted. Thankfully, the ending completely turned things around, leaving me with happy tears and a big, goofy smile.
“Love shows up. That’s how you know when it’s real.”

The Down & Dirty
Abby Jimenez has officially cemented her spot on my auto-buy list. Yours Truly is such a fantastic romance, packed with humor, heart, and so many amazing quotes I lost count. I didn’t want it to end!
I just wish the audiobook had a different narrator—I can’t bring myself to listen to Zachary Weber after some of his recent online behavior. Otherwise, I’d 100% be re-reading this via audio. Still, however you choose to read it, Yours Truly and the entire Part of Your World series should absolutely be on your TBR. This one gets my highest recommendation!
