Lauren Blakely has always been one of my favorite audiobook authors. If I pick up one of her audiobooks, I know to expect a light, sexy, fun, inclusive romance.

When I picked this up in Audible Plus I didn’t realize it was Monroe’s story from the How To Date Series, and if I hadn’t recently read The Almost Romantic I wouldn’t have noticed, The Accidental Dating Experiment stands alone just fine.

Monroe is Juliet’s brother’s best friend. He and Juliet spent one week together years ago but it didn’t work out. Now they are work colleagues, hosting a podcast about relationships. When they are gifted a house from a listener, they realize there may be some unresolved feelings between them, especially when she asks him for dating advice and coaching.

The Accidental Dating Experiment was a cute, fun listen, but for me, it didn’t quite live up to many of Lauren Blakely’s other books. There was just nothing very memorable about it, though I still enjoyed listening to every word.

“Sawyer is staying the night. Can you be quiet as I f*#k you?”
“I can try.”
I shake my head as I shift my body next to hers. “You have to, Juliet.”
She smiles. “Then you’ll have to make me be quiet.”

Likes:

Great banter.
The house was funny.
Loved both characters.
Visits and mentions of previous characters.

Dislikes:

He’s a therapist and relationship coach but has to pretend?
It felt a little cheesy and more formulaic than other LB books.
It wasn’t memorable for me.

Andi Arndt and Jacob Morgan were amazing as always, and I think they made the book even better.

The Down & Dirty:

The Accidental Dating Experiment by Lauren Blakely was the perfect light and sexy listen for a quick palate cleanser between heavier and deeper books. It may not be the most memorable book, but I had a great time while I listened.
