Feel Good Romance. Easily stands alone but is #2 in the series.

Lauren Blakely has been one of my favorite authors for over a decade, and I have more than 70 audiobook reviews of her books on this blog. Her books are feel-good romances that make me smile, laugh, and swoon. I always love her intelligent, likable characters, fun friend groups, and, of course, the adorable pets that seem to find their way into almost every story.
If you’re a dog lover, you’re going to adore I’ve Got a Crush on You by Lauren Blakely.
Chloe is a dog trainer who, after losing her day job because of her ex, is determined to grow her business. Hoping to make new connections, she heads to the city for an elaborate dog birthday party hosted by one of her celebrity clients. After an overexcited pup causes a little chaos, Chloe is rescued by the handsome stranger she’s been eyeing all night, and the two spend one unforgettable evening together.
“It’s like an ache in my soul, this longing.”
Back in Darling Springs, Chloe has spent weeks searching for the perfect space for her Pawsitive dog training business. When she learns the old doggie daycare is reopening under new management and has a small space available to lease, she jumps at the chance.
Until she discovers the new owner is Sawyer.
Yep…her one-night stand.
“How was your four p.m.?”
“Well, he had a very large tongue, and he licked all my clothes. So, I’d say it was…a little messy.”
“Lucky dog,” I say, before thinking it through.
Now he’s her landlord and coworker, and his all-business attitude is nothing like the charming guy she remembers. I absolutely loved the longing looks, the forbidden flirting, and watching sunny Chloe slowly break through Sawyer’s serious exterior.
“But trust me, sweetheart. Resisting you is the hardest thing I do all day.”
As much as I loved Chloe and Sawyer, I may have loved the dogs even more. Captain completely stole my heart, and every dog-centered scene was a treat. They add so much charm and humor to the story without ever taking away from the romance.
“You, me, and our dogs. That’s all I want.”
Likes:
- So much chemistry and banter.
- An easy, fun, feel-good romance.
- So many amazing dogs!
- I loved spending more time in Darling Springs.
- Book one ties in nicely, but you don’t have to read it first.
- The perfect amount of spice.
Dislikes:
- As much as I never want a Lauren Blakely book to end, I’ve Got a Crush on You felt a little long. I thought the entire karaoke section could have been cut without changing the story.
The Narration:
Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin were fantastic together. Lauren Blakely knows her narrators before she writes the book, so she writes with their voices in mind, and it always shows. Add duet narration, and choosing the audiobook over the ebook is an easy decision.
The Down & Dirty:
After more than ten years and over 70 books, Lauren Blakely’s sweet, sexy, smart romances are still some of my favorites. She’s the first author I recommend whenever someone asks for audiobook recommendations, and I’ve Got a Crush on You is another perfect example of why. Between the immensely likable characters, the wonderful duet narration, and all the lovable dogs, this audiobook is an easy recommendation. I had such a great time with this one, and I can’t wait for the next Darling Springs book, Take Me Home Tonight.
Rating: 4.25 Stars, 2.5 Heat, 5 Narration
