Fate of a Royal by Meagan Brandy and Amo Jones
Narrated by: Teddy Hamilton, Aubrey Vincent
Part 1 of 2, New Adult Fantasy
I was going to a signing where Amo Jones and Meagan Brandy were going to be signing and I like the occasional Romantasy, so Fate of a Royal by Amo Jones and Meagan Brandy seemed like a good way to knock two birds out with one stone.
The beginning was intriguing, there is the gifted (magic) and the giftless and they usually go to different colleges. Knight Deveraux is one of four brothers in the Stygian Royal Family. London is “giftless” but Knight can’t stay away from her.
Or at least that’s what I think it was about. I’m not sure I ever 100% followed what was happening in this book. I should have DNFd but I’ve wanted to read both of those authors for so long that I made myself continue.
I shouldn’t have. Fate of a Royal seemed so written to market especially the young booktok market. Hockey, Dark Romance and Romantasy are the hottest book themes right now, and Fate of a Royal had all three, but to me, it had nothing else. I wanted to love it, but I was left just feeling a little lost with no desire to continue to the next in the series. I’d happily try these author’s individual books, but I won’t continue this series.
The Narration by Teddy Hamilton and Aubrey Vincent helped save the book for me, but not quite enough.
Sorry for the shortest review ever, but I just don’t have much more to say. If you’ve loved either of these authors other books, which should I try? Or are they all too young for me?
Sidenote: When adding the links to this review, I noticed it’s rated SUPER high on Amazon with a 4.3 average and over 6,100 ratings, so you may want to try this one yourself. If you do, let me know your thoughts!
Rating: 2 Stars, 3 Heat, 4.5 Narration
